Bacterial populations isolated from treated soil,artificially contaminated with lead(Pb)and cadmium(Cd)and undergoing a phytoremediation process were studied to determine their potential application in soil *** physicochemical parameters evaluated in the soil varied *** bacterial strains were selected from each polluted soil to test tolerance and growth in contaminated *** concentrations of heavy metals tested were 1,000 ppm for lead and 850 ppm for *** strains were morphologically identified through Gram *** strains showing the most significant growth in both contaminants were then selected to verify their tolerance to different concentrations of heavy *** results demonstrated that the selected bacteria have high tolerance to Pb,resisting inhibition up to 2,000 *** contrast,strains exposed to cadmium tended to slow their growth as the concentration increased.

In this paper, we analyze and compare nest composition and architecture as well as worker relatedness in three related species of slave-making ants： Rossomyrmex anatolicus, R. minuchae, and R. quandratinodum. Colony structure within nests is an important trait in ants, especially in the case of mixed societies, when host and parasite coexist in the same nest. Data for their respective free-living hosts, Proformica korbi, P.. longiseta and P. sp., are also provided. For our study, we integrated a meticulous excava- tion procedure with a genetic method. We conclude that the average number of parasites, as well as of slaves, is species-specific, whereas nest depth depends on the nest archi- tecture of the host. The genus Rossomyrmex seems to be monogynous and monandrous, whereas Proformica shows differences in the number of queens and mating frequency. R. quandratinodum shows different traits in nest composition （host/parasite ratio： P/R） and architecture. The difference in traits may account for some differences in parasitism： raid process or avoidance of parasitism.

The present study was conducted to investigate the ability of Saccharomyces cerevisiae RC016(Sc)-based feed additive to reduce liver toxicity,residual aflatoxin B1(AFB1)levels and influence intestinal structure in broiler chickens fed chronic aflatoxin B1-contaminated diets.A total of 100 one-day-old male commercial line(Ross)broiler chickens were divided into 4 treatments,with 5 pens per treatment and 5 broiler chickens per *** were randomly assigned to 4 treatments,which were namely treatment 1(T1),control diet(CD);T2,CD+Sc at 1 g/kg;T3,CD+AFB1 at 100μg/kg;T4,CD+Sc at 1 g/kg+AFB1 at100μg/*** liver histopathology of broiler chickens fed diets with AFB1 showed diffused microvacuolar fatty *** addition of Sc showed normal hepatocytes similar to the *** small intestine villi from AFB1 group showed atrophy,hyperplasia of goblet cells,prominent inflammatory infiltrate and *** contrast,the small intestine villi from birds that received the yeast plus AFB1 showed an absence of inflammatory infiltrate,and atrophy;moreover,a lower number of goblet cells compared to the groups with AFB1 was *** morphometric intestine studies showed that a significant decrease(P0.05),there was a tendency to improve these *** residual levels of AFB1 in livers were significantly reduced(P<0.05)in the presence of the *** present work demonstrated that the addition of Sc alone or in combination with AFB1 in the broiler chicken diets had a beneficial effect in counteracting the toxic effects of AFB1 in livers besides improving the histomorphometric parameters and modulating the toxic effect of AFB1 in the intestine.

AIM： To examine the in vivo phenotype associated with hepatic metastatic lymph node 64 （MLN64） overexpression.METHODS： Recombinant-adenovirus-mediated MLN64 gene transfer was used to overexpress MLN64 in the livers of C57BL/6 mice. We measured the effects of MLN64 overexpression on hepatic cholesterol content, bile flow, biliary lipid secretion and apoptosis markers. For in vitro studies cultured CHO cells with transient MLN64 overexpression were utilized and apoptosis by TUNEL assay was measured.RESULTS： Livers from ***64-infected mice exhibited early onset of liver damage and apoptosis. This response correlated with increases in liver cholesterol content and bilian/bile acid concentration, and impaired bile flow. We investigated whether liver MLN64 expression could be modulated in a murine model of hepatic injury. We found increased hepatic MLN64 mRNA and protein levels in mice with chenodeoxycholic acid-induced liver damage. In addition, cultured CliO cells with transient MLN64 overexpression showed increased apoptosis.CONCLUSION： In summary, hepatic MLN64 overexpression induced damage and apoptosis in murine livers and altered cholesterol metabolism. Further studies are required to elucidate the relevance of these findings under physiologic and disease conditions.

Currently, Living Wall Systems (LWSs) are assuming great importance in the built environment, due to environmental and aesthetic advantages, as well as the use of urban residual space and underutilized surfaces of buildings. However, the maintenance and the durability of the materials used have been a challenge for architects and professionals in the field. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the anti-corrosion performance of a steel framing profile, galvanized carbon steel (55% Al-Zn), a sustainable material with easy assembly, to apply LWS in the hot and humid tropical climate of Niterói (rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In order to create the conditions of the tests, “X” cut were made in Al-Zn coating, sanding, and application of epoxy and glass fiber-reinforced polyester. After the experiments that lasted four months, the 55% Al-Zn coating was analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The results of the tests were promising for the use of this galvanized steel for application as a support for green vertical facades. 55% Al-Zn coatings are recommended for marine atmospheres due to their good anti-corrosion performance.

It is well known that fossil fuels are one of the major pollutants that contribute to climate change and there is a need to develop alternatives to their *** option is the use of a renewable fuel such as biogas obtained from the breaking down of organic matter in the anaerobic digestion *** biogas is cleaned up to a certain quality,it can substitute the use of natural ***,this slow process requires optimization to increase the amount of *** are chemical,physical and biological treatments for organic matter to increase the amount and quality of *** the former research,a biological treatment was tested by adding a selection of microorganisms that showed hydrolytic activity to an anaerobic digester for its ***,a selection of microorganisms with the ability to grow in fresh sewage sludge as only nutrient was ***,the lipolytic,cellulolytic and PA(Proteolytic Activity)of microorganisms was tested using selective growth ***,10 samples with the greatest hydrolytic activity were used to evaluate their effects in the increasing of biogas production in the anaerobic *** results showed that 83%of the microorganisms with the ability to grow in sewage sludge were proteolytic,while the percentage of lipolytic and cellulolytic microorganisms was ***,it was found that proteolytic microorganisms are the ones that increase biogas yield in a maximum of 80%with a COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand)reduction of 58%.

The incorrect disposal of the waste generated in the municipalities contributes to water and soil contamination,resulting in a real concern in order to find an adequate disposal as well as obtain by-products that can be used to reduce CO2 *** digestion turns out to be the most efficient treatment,both in environmental and economic *** objective of this study is to evaluate the anaerobic co-digestion process in phases as an alternative for the treatment of municipal waste:sludge from water treatment plants and the biodegradable part of Municipal Solid Waste(MSW),for three HRTs(Hydraulic Retention Times).Testing results show up a max elimination of 70.68%in VS(Volatile Solids)and 74.01%in COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand).With these percentages of elimination on average,15.96 L/d of biogas was produced,for each kg of COD eliminated 0.56 m3 of biogas was produced and for each kg of SV 0.85 m3 and methane of 50.10%.

Sargassum is an indicator of progressive pollution in the seas because it causes lack of light and lack of *** arrives in the Mexican Caribbean between the months of April and September,causing a bad smell that it has after its decomposition,a heavy load of heavy metals,as well as being an inconvenience for the inhabitants because it causes losses for tourism in that *** are several ways to take advantage of these algae and one of them is to generate biomass to obtain a *** objective of this study was to determine the viability of sargassum(two varieties)as a substrate to obtain biogas in anaerobic co-digestion with sludge from a WWTP(Wastewater Treatment Plant).Two forms of drying were also applied to the two varieties of *** was obtained that sargassum is a good component to co-digest because it does not destabilize the process and good biogas production is achieved.
