Despite being within the intertropical.region of the pl.net,the Mexican territory stil. has gl.cier-covered *** recent decades,important advances have been made in studies on gl.ciol.gy and perigl.cial.environment in Mexico both for current and past ***,in spite of Cofre de Perote vol.ano(4200 m a.s.l.)being a strategical.y l.cated mountain,it has not yet been studied in regards to the gl.cial.and perigl.cial.processes;in fact,those dynamics have modified the mountain massifs in the *** compl.ment the series of studies on gl.cial.history in the high mountain environment of México,this study reconstructs the gl.cial.cover and the perigl.cial.environment of the vol.ano surface during the final.stage of the l.te Pl.istocene based on cl.matic retrospective and through the identification of geomorphol.gical.*** findings indicate the existence of a l.rge gl.cier(ice cap)that covered the northern,western,and southern sl.pes of the mountain;whil. in the eastern sector there were two smal. gl.ciers,one being of cirque type,and the other of val.ey *** current temperature conditions prevent the occurrence of permanent ice bodies;at the same time,it was found that the perigl.cial.bl.ckfiel.s of the sl.pes is a l.gacy of the cl.matic conditions that prevail.d at the end of l.te Pl.istocene.

The arsenic removal.efficiency of iron-modified activated carbons depends greatl. on the number of avail.bl. iron oxide surface sites, which are given by the surface area of the anchored particl.s. In this sense, aiming the generation of an adsorbent with superior arsenic adsorption capacity, we devel.ped a protocol.to anchor interconnected fibril. of iron oxyhydroxides, using Mn^(2+) as a morphol.gy regul.tor. The protocol.was based on a microwave-assisted hydrothermal.method, using bituminous based activated carbon and both Fe^(2+) and Mn^(2+) ions in the hydrol.sis sol.tion. The el.mental.anal.sis of modified carbons reveal.d that Mn does not anchor to the carbon. However, when Mn is incl.ded in the hydrol.sis sol.tion, the iron content in the activated carbon increased up to 3.5 wt%,without considerabl. decreasing the adsorbent surface area. Under specific hydrothermal.conditions, the Mn^(2+) promoted the formation of iron oxide nanoparticl.s shaped as interconnected fibril.. This material.showed a superior arsenic adsorption capacity in comparison to simil.r iron modified activated carbons(5 mg As/g carbon, at 2 mg As/l.,attributed to the increase in quantity and avail.bil.ty of active sites l.cated on the novel.interconnected fibril. of iron oxyhydroxides nanostructures.

This work reports the preparation of bul. and KIT-6-dil.ted W-Nb-O mixed oxide bronzes by a refl.x method. The infl.ence of the incorporation of Nb and a mesoporous sil.ca on the physicochemical.features of the catal.sts is studied. The addition of Nb favors the formation of singl.-phase oxide bronze structure, with improved l.wis acidity;whil. the incorporation of KIT-6 gives rise to wel.-dispersed mixed metal.oxide particl.s on the dil.ter. These dil.ted W-Nb-O catal.sts present enhanced surface areas and mesopore vol.mes. The material. have been tested in the val.rization of an aqueous model.mixture (acetol.propanal.ethanol.acetic acid/water weight ratio of 5/25/10/30/30), through C-C bond formation reactions. The increase in the l.wis nature of surface acid sites stands as the key point to maximize the total.organic yiel. during the reaction (C5-C10 products). The best catal.sts maintain their catal.tic behavior after five consecutive uses.
