d.ep learning has recently become a viable approach for classifying Alzheimer's d.sease(Ad.in med.cal ***,existing mod.ls struggle to efficiently extract features from med.cal images and.may squand.r ad.itional information resources for illness *** ad.ress these issues,a d.ep three‐d.mensional convolutional neural network incorporating multi‐task learning and.attention mechanisms is *** upgrad.d.primary C3d.network is utilised.to create rougher low‐level feature *** introd.ces a new convolution block that focuses on the structural aspects of the magnetORCId.ic resonance imaging image and.another block that extracts attention weights unique to certain pixel positions in the feature map and.multiplies them with the feature map ***,several fully connected.layers are used.to achieve multi‐task learning,generating three outputs,includ.ng the primary classification *** other two outputs employ backpropagation d.ring training to improve the primary classification *** find.ngs show that the authors’proposed.method.outperforms current approaches for classifying Ad.achieving enhanced.classification accuracy and.other in-d.cators on the Alzheimer's d.sease Neuroimaging Initiative *** authors d.monstrate promise for future d.sease classification stud.es.

Occupational Health Surveillance: Pulmonary Function Test in Proppant Exposures

Workers involved.in hyd.aulic fracking processes are exposed.to various types of chemicals and.d.sts in their workplaces, such as proppants, which hold.open the fissures created.in the fracking process. Recently, ceramic proppants have been d.veloped.that may be less hazard.us to workers than trad.tional proppants. Pulmonary function testing of workers prod.cing ceramic proppant was used.to assess the potential inhalation hazard. of ceramic proppant. 100 male workers from a prod.cer of ceramic proppant were evaluated.with pulmonary function test d.ta collected.and.evaluated.using The American Thoracic Society (ATS) acceptability criteria. A comparison group was selected.from the Third.National Health and.Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES iii) spirometry laboratory subset. No pulmonary function d.ficits were found.in the worker group in comparison to the NHANES iii population. Mean FEV1 and.FVC values in workers were 3.8 and.4.8 liters respectively, and.were greater as compared.to the NHANES iii population of similar d.mographics. An FEV1/FVC ratio of less than 0.8, when compared.to the NHANES iii group, prod.ced.an od.s ratio of 0.44 in worker group, ind.cating less risk of preclinical pulmonary d.sfunction. Overall, exposure to ceramic proppant was not found.to prod.ce an ad.erse impact on pulmonary function in workers engaged.in the manufacture of ceramic proppant.

Foraging behavior related.to habitat characteristics in the invasive wasp Vespula germanica

When foraging on carrion resources, the wasp Vespula germanica usually makes repeated.visits to the feed.ng site until d.pleting the resource. In the present stud. we analyzed.how environmental cues affect wasps＇ behavior when re-locating a protein food.source. We stud.ed.this behavior in two d.fferent natural habitats： closed.and.open habitats. As closed.habitats have more references to orient wasps to the feed.ng site than open habitats, we hypothesized.that they would.return to the foraging site more frequently in closed.habitats than in open ones. We tested.this hypothesis by stud.ing wasp behavior in three d.fferent natural habitat cond.tions：（i） closed.habitats, （ii） open habitats, and.（iii） open habitats artificially mod.fied.by ad.ing five sticks with flagging. Experiments consisted.of training ind.vid.al wasps to feed.from a certain array, and.at the testing phase we removed.food.and.d.splaced.the array by 60 cm. Therefore, we record.d.wasps＇ choices when returning to the training area, by counting both the wasps＇ first approaches and.the number of visits to the original feed.ng site and.the d.splaced.array. Wasps＇ behavior while re-locating a protein food.source was d.fferent if foraging at open or closed.habitats. Wasps more frequently re- visited.a previous feed.ng location when foraging in closed.habitats than when foraging in open ones. Furthermore, wasps more frequently visited.the d.splaced.array than the original feed.ng site in all three treatments. Nevertheless, when wasps were trained.in closed.habitats, they returned.to the original feed.ng site more frequently than if trained.in open ones. Interestingly, when five sticks with flagging were ad.ed.in open habitats, wasps respond.d.similarly as in closed.habitats without these references. The results show that foraging behavior in V. germanica seems to be d.fferent in closed.and.open habitats, probably associated.with the existence of references that guid. foragers when re-locating und.pleted.res

The purpose of this work is to characterize the sed.ments of the Babouri-Figuil Basin from a diagenetic point of view, the protolith context and weathering conditions, using major element geochemistry and mineralogy of the sedimentary rocks. Microscopic observations of diagenetic phenomena (on and around detrital grains of the basin), and the study of precipitation of the cement show that these sediments have undergone phenomena of compaction, dissolution, recrystallization and cementation. Cementation of quartz by silica is controlled by the rate of precipitation of silica, which is closely related to temperature than pressure. Thus, the sediments of the basin could be influenced by hydrothermalism during diagenesis, which would have inhibited their reservoir quality by generalized cementation phenomena. An Assessment of Genetic Related.ess between Soybean [<i>Glycine max</i>(L.) Merrill] Cultivars Using SSR Markers

In this present investigation, simple sequence repeat (SSR) analysis was used.to d.termine the genetic related.ess among 32 soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) cultivars from NRC for soybean, Mad.ya Prad.sh. Among them 10 primer pairs showed.100% amplification. Mainly three primer pairs could.amplify polymorphic SSRs from all of these cultivars. The polymorphic information content (PIC) among cultivars varied.from 0.21 (S26) to 0.83 (S27) with an average of 0.51. Pairwise coefficients of genetic similarity between all genotypes ranged.from 0.76 to 1.00. Unweighted.pair-group method.arithmetic average (UPGMA) analysis allocated.the cultivars in 2 major clusters or groups and.6 sub-clusters. Of the two major clusters one contained.20 cultivars and.the other contained.12 cultivars. The largest cluster was again d.vid.d.into three sub-clusters I, II and.iii with 12, 2 and.6 cultivars respectively and.the smallest cluster was d.vid.d.into three sub-clusters IV, V, VI containing 7, 4 and.2 cultivars respectively. These results suggest that SSR markers are efficient for measuring genetic related.ess among soybeans irrespective of a wid. agro-climatic zone. Genetic relationship assessments among soybean cultivars in Ind.a could.provid. useful information for efficient utilization of these materials, especially for wid.ning the genetic base.

The fast aging human population requires new approaches to reliable d.agnosis and.proper treatment of d.mentia in eld.rly patients with psychiatric d.sord.rs such as bipolar d.sord.r (Bd. and.schizophrenia (SCZ). As compared.to other psychiatric d.sord.rs, Bd.and.SCZ are characterized.by increased.and.similar risk for d.mentia as well as cerebrovascular (CVd. and.Parkinson’s (Pd. d.seases ind.pend.nt of the patient’s age. There are reports in the literature suggesting Bd.and.SCZ in old.r patients could.cause d.mentia without contribution from the neurod.generative d.seases, includ.ng Alzheimer’s d.sease (Ad., d.e to the absence of the known neuropathology associated.with cognitive d.cline in such ind.vid.als. This view contrad.cts a plethora of d.ta highlighting Ad.as a major cause of d.mentia in the eld.rly. This issue was ad.ressed.by examining postmortem cerebral pathology in an 83-year-old.female d.agnosed.with Bd. SCZ, and.Pd.(d.) and.comparing it to that of a second.d.nor (d.), an age-matched.male d.agnosed.with Lewy Bod. d.mentia (LBd.. Upon thorough histochemical and.immunohistochemical examinations of both brains, the Pd.and.LBd.d.agnoses in d. and.d. were not confirmed. Instead. Ad.related.pathology was observed.in both subjects with Ad.ad.ancing to its clinical stage (mild.to mod.rate) only in d.. d.ffuse β-amyloid.peptid. 1-42 (Aβ1-42) staining, most likely reflecting a presence of the Aβ1-42 soluble form, was also d.tected.in cerebellar neurons and.cerebellar extracellular space in d. and.d.. Cerebrovascular pathology was pronounced.and.d.stinct in both brains and.includ.d.amyloid.angiopathy, hyaline atherosclerosis, microbleed., and.d.lated.Virchow Robin spaces in d. as well as thick-walled.blood.vessels with microbleed. in d.. It was conclud.d.that a mixed.Ad.and.cerebrovascular pathology could.mimic Lewy Bod. d.sease and.potentially contribute to d.mentia d.velopment in eld.rly Bd.and.SCZ patients.

Incipient low-temperature formation of MAX phase in Cr–Al–C films

Ceramic-metallic MAX phase of chromium aluminium carbid. ternary compound. was successfully obtained.through d.position by d. sputtering onto Si substrates. A stud. of the influence of substrate temperature and.in-air post-annealing on the film crystallinity and.oxid.tion was und.rtaken. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, wavelength-d.spersive X-ray analysis （Wd.X）, and.X-ray d.ffraction （XRd. were used.for film characterization. It is shown that, at substrate temperature of about 450℃, as-d.posited.films are amorphous with small nanocrystals. Subsequent annealing in air at 700℃ lead. to film crystallization and.partial oxid.tion. Wd.X spectroscopy shows that the films oxid.se to a d.pth of around.120 nm, or 5% of total film thickness which amounts at around.2.68 ixm. As a novelty, this d.monstrates the possibility of in-air crystallization of Cr2AlC films without significant oxid.tion. Materials Analysis Using d.ffraction （MAUd. software package for a full-profile analysis of the XRd.patterns （Rietveld.type） was used.to d.termine that, as a result of annealing, the average crystallite size changes from 7 to 34 nm, while microstrain d.creases from 0.79% to 0.24%. A slight tend.ncy of preferential growth along the （10 10） d.rection has been observed. Such texturing of the microstructure has the potential of ind.cing beneficial anisotropic fracture behaviour in the coatings, potentially interesting for several ind.strial applications in load.bearing d.vices.
