The clinical outcomes of adolescents with avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder(ARFID)remain ***,no report has compared the characteristics of ARFID and restricting-type anorexia nervosa(R-AN)in elementary-school students on total parenteral nutrition(TPN).This study retrospectively reviewed inpatients diagnosed with ARFID or R-AN between 2005 and *** with ARFID(two boys and seven girls)and R-AN(13 girls)were hospitalized because of rapid physical deterioration,and nutrition therapy was continued without *** ARFID group exhibited significantly lower body weights at admission than the R-AN group and gained an average of 6.5 kg during hospitalization;furthermore,the monthly weight gain during hospitalization was significantly higher,and no relapse was *** physical improvement in ARFID resulted in good *** conclusion,TPN can be easily introduced to patients with ARFID,in whom aversive eating is a concern,and is a suitable treatment for ARFID.

将氰胺公司（Cyanamid）“Aero”型钒催化剂置于SO2稀释氧化的多层反应器进口的操作条件下,观测到催化剂活性有明显的衰退。由日本制作的另外一种工业催化剂在相同条件下,其活性的衰退却不大。某些活性的下降可归因于比表面的影响。但是,活性的下降程度仅约为表面积减少的影响之半。看来有活化催化剂的第二种过程发生。这可能是催化剂中的V5+还原成V4+,以及催化剂物相中焦硫酸钾的增加使催化剂熔点降低,因而提高了分子形式的流动性所致。这种活性的增加是显著的。如将催化剂在空气中升温,则催化剂活性实际上会增加。

In modern society, the population, wealth and social functions are increasingly concentrated in a few large cities. Such concentration brings about efficiency while at the same time it increases the vulnerability of the society. To address this issue, the Science Council of Japan（SCJ） published a proposal entitled ＂Shape Cities and Societies Safer against Severe Earthquakes＂. It makes a variety of suggestions for enhancing the seismic resilience of large cities, including：（1） comprehensive thinking based on the latest scientific knowledge and rich imagination;（2） selection of sites suitable for residence and social activities;（3） introducing the urban seismic coefficient;（4） promoting the enhancement of the seismic performance of buildings and civil structures;（5） easing the concentration of population and functions;（6） building communities that enable shelter and escape;（7） resilient technology of information and communication system and its effective utilization;（8） preparation and implementation of emergency response after earthquakes;（9） development and application of new structural seismic technology;（10） learning from domestic and foreign earthquake disasters and launching of international cooperation and knowledge sharing and（11） taking actions from a multidisciplinary perspective. The proposal is introduced in this paper.

Miniature inverted-repeat transposable elements （MITEs） are widespread in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic genomes, where their copy numbers can attain several thousands. Little is known, however, about the genetic factor（s） affecting their transpositions. Here, we show that disruption of a gene encoding ubiquitin-like protein markedly enhances the transposition activity of a MITE roPing in intact rice plants without any exogenous stresses. We found that the transposition activity of roPing is far higher in the lines harboring a non-functional allele at the Rurml （Rice ubiquitin-related modifier-I） locus than in the wild-type line. Although the alteration of cytosine methylation pattern triggers the activation of transposable elements under exogenous stress conditions, the methylation degrees in the whole genome, the roPing-body region, and the roPing-flanking regions of the non-functional Rurml line were unchanged. This study provides experimental evidence for one of the models of genome shock theory that genetic accidents within cells enhance the transposition activities of transposable elements.

AIM To investigate whether the liver resection volume in a newly developed nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) model influences surgical *** For establishment of a NASH model, mice were fed a high-fat diet for 4 wk, administered CCl_4 for the last 2 wk, and administered T0901317 for the last 5 d. We divided these mice into two groups: A 30% partial hepatectomy(PH) of NASH liver group and a 70% PH of NASH liver group. In addition, a 70% PH of normal liver group served as the control. Each group was evaluated for survival rate, regeneration, apoptosis, necrosis and DNA expression after *** In the 70% PH of NASH group, the survival rate was significantly decreased compared with that in the control and 30% PH of NASH groups(P < 0.01). 10 of 32 mice in the NASH 70% PH group died within 48 h after PH. Serum aspartate aminotransferase(AST) levels and total bilirubin(T-Bil) in the NASH 70% PH group were significantly higher than the levels in the other two groups(AST: P < 0.05, T-Bil: P < 0.01). In both PH of NASH groups, signaling proteins involved in regeneration were expressed at lower levels than those in the control group(P < 0.01). The 70% PH of NASH group also exhibited a lower number of Ki-67-positive cells and higher rates of apoptosis and necrosis than the NASH 30% PH group(P < 0.01). In addition, DNA microarray assays showed differences in gene expression associated with cell cycle arrest and *** The function of the residual liver is impaired in fatty liver compared to normal liver. A larger residual volume is required to maintain liver functions in mice with NASH.

AIM： To examine the effects of adiponectin on the functions of Kupffer cells, key modulators of lipopolysaccharide （LPS） -induced liver ***： D-galactosamine （GAIN） and LPS were injected intraperitoneally into adiponectin-/- mice and wild type mice. Kupffer cells, isolated from Sprague-Dawley rats, were preincubated with or without adiponectin, and then treated with ***： In knockout mice, GalN/LPS injection significantly lowered the survival rate, significantly raised the plasma levels of alanine transaminase and tumor necrosis factor-α （TNF-α） and significantly reduced IL-10 levels compared with wild type mice. TNF-α gene expression in the liver was which higher and those of IL-10 were lower in knockout mice than in wild type mice. In cultured adiponectin-pre-treated Kupffer cells, LPS significantly lowered TNF-α levels and raised IL-10 levels in the culture media and their respective gene expression levels, compared with Kupffer cells without ***： Adiponectin supresses TNF-α production and induces IL-10 production by Kupffer cells in response to LPS stimulation, and a lack of adiponectin enhances LPS-induced liver injury.

The spin-up time TA in the spin-up process and spin-down time TD in the spin-down process of rotational air flow in the cylindrical vortex chamber with three kinds of the artificial surface roughness were investigated. One of the most different characteristics between the smooth and rough surface conditions was the spin-down time TD. Also the transient response of the tangential velocity on the spin-up process was analyzed numerically and this result was compared with the experimental results. The above stated results are reported here in detail.

In order to estimate the cut-size Xc and the mechanically balanced particles in the axial flow cyclonewith the slit-separation method, the tangential velocity distributions were calculated by the finitedifference method. In comparison of the calculated results of the total collection efficiency with theexperimental results, the calculated results showed a little higher than the experimental results due tothe re-entrainment of the collected particles by turbulence. The effect of the slit for promoting thecollection efficiency was not recognized.

A cyclone dust collector is applied in many industries. Especially the axial flow cyclone is the mostsimple construction and it keeps high reliability for maintenance. On the other hand, the collectionefficiency of the cyclone depends not only on the inlet gas velocity but also on the feed particle concentration. The collection efficiency increases with increasing feed particle concentration. However untilnow the problem of how to estimate the collection efficiency depended on the feed particle concentrationis remained except the investigation by Muschelknautz & Brunner~[6]. Therefore in this paper one ofthe estimate method for the collection efficiency of the axial flow cyclones is proposed. The applicationto the geometrically similar type of cyclone of the body diameters D_1=30, 50, 69 and 99 mm showedin good agreement with the experimental results of the collection efficiencies which were described indetail in the paper by Ogawa & Sugiyama~[8].
