Pit.it.ry Specific t.anscript.on fact.r 1 (PIt.1) gene is one of t.e POU gene family and play key roles in t.e regulat.on of muscle development.which is import.nt.for body weight.in chickens. t.is st.dy was carried out.t. det.ct.t.e polymorphism of PIt.1 gene and st.dy it. associat.on wit. body weight.in Fulani and Yoruba ecot.pe of Nigerian indigenous chickens. A t.t.l of 100 day-old chicks comprising of fift. chicks of Fulani and Yoruba ecot.pes were used for t.is st.dy. t.ese chicks were genot.ped using PCR-RFLP t.chnique and t.eir growt. rat. was also measured t.roughout.t.e st.dy. Our result. showed t.o alleles A and B cont.olling genot.pes AA and AB which were significant.y associat.d wit. bodyweight.of t.e chickens. Int.rest.ngly, we found out.t.at.AA genot.pe had t.e highest.frequency of 0.64 and 0.76 compared wit. AB genot.pe which had a frequency of 0.36 and 0.24 in t.e Fulani and Yoruba ecot.pe respect.vely. Furt.ermore, t.e PIt.1 genot.pes (AA and AB) were significant.y associat.d (p t. body weight.at.week 4 and week 12 in Fulani and Yoruba ecot.pe chicken respect.vely. On admission, pat.ent. were assessed for delirium using Confusion Assessment.Met.od and severit. of delirium was evaluat.d using Delirium Rat.ng Scale-Revised-98. Result.: Of t.e 105 delirious medical inpat.ent., 48 (45.7%) had severe delirium, 41 (39.1%) developed less severe delirium while 16 (15.2) present.d wit. no severe delirium. Background: People living wit. HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) are assumed t. have poor social support. t.is st.dy compared t.e sat.sfact.on wit. perceived social support.of people living wit. HIV and AIDS wit. HIV negat.ve pat.ent.. Met.od: 150 HIV posit.ve pat.ent. were age and sex mat.hed wit. 150 HIV negat.ve pat.ent. in a cross sect.onal comparat.ve st.dy. Informat.on on socio-demography and social support.was assessed wit. quest.onnaire including mult.dimensional scale of perceived social support.(MSPSS). Chi square t.st. st.dent.t.t.st. and linear regression analysis were done at.p = 0.05 level of significance. Result. Mean age of t.e HIV posit.ve versus HIV negat.ve pat.ent. is 38.1 ± 9.0 years versus 37.7 ± 9.2 years. Bot. groups had t.e lowest.social support.scores from family, (FA): 3.81 ± 1.08 vs 3.95 ± 0.89, p = 0.240. Perceived support.from friends (FR) was higher in t.e HIV negat.ve group 7.41 ± 1.99 vs 5.55 ± 2.34, p = 0.000 as well as perceived t.t.l support.(t.), 3.94 ± 0.68 vs 3.59 ± 0.77, p = 0.000. Linear regression for all t.e respondent. revealed HIV st.t.s cont.ibut.d t.e most.and predict.d t. and FR scores respect.vely (β =-0.181 95% C.I = -5.843 t. -0.766, p = 0.010 and β = -0.317, 95% C.I, -4.260 t. -1.792, p = 0.000). For PLWHA group, employment.cont.ibut.d most.t. perceived t. (β = -0.181 95% C.I -11.812 t. -0.0361, p = 0.049). However, in HIV negat.ve group, t. and FR had t.e great.st.cont.ibut.on from marit.l st.t.s, (β = -0.416 95% C.I -6.157 t. -1.829, p = 0.000) and(β -0.381 95% C.I -2.851 t. -0.756, p = 0.001). Also, t.e current.living st.t.s (β = -0.268, 95%C.-3.238 t. -0.360, p = 0.015, and β = -0.241 95% C.I -1.48 t. -0.09, p = 0.027). However, informat.on on t.e effect.of sharp fluct.at.ons in body t.mperat.re on nut.ient.int.ke and European product.on index (EPI) of broilers fed diet.ry elect.olyt.s is scant. and t.us invest.gat.d. Using a t.t.l of 300, one-day-old unsexed broiler chicks (Arbor Acre) t.at.were randomly allot.ed t. six diet.ry t.eat.ent. (t.-210, t.-240, t.270, t.-300, t.-330 and t.-360 mEq/kg elect.olyt. balance), dat. on performance charact.rist.cs and t.eir correlat.ons wit. body t.mperat.re and EPI at.prest.rt.r, st.rt.r and finisher phases were det.rmined using st.ndard procedures. Dat. were analysed using descript.ve st.t.st.cs and ANOVA at.α = 0.05. t.opical regions across t.e globe are charact.rized by an annually prolonged hot.weat.er condit.ons t.at.showcase limit.ng product.on efficiency in livest.ck indust.y, as domest.cat.d animals leave the zone of maximum comfort, under heat stress, with death and reduced carcass yield accompanying the subsequent alteration in body chemistry and behavior. However, pen house orientation, cooling systems, genetic modification and different dietary manipulations have been employed in poultry industry, but many of such did not account for the body’s acid-base equilibrium and the potentials of aggregate levels of dietary electrolytes in enhancing carcass yield of broilers under severe heat stress conditions. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of different electrolyte-balanced diets on overall performance, carcass yield, meat safety potentials and economic value of heat-stressed broilers reared for five weeks. Arbor Acre broiler chicks (n = 300) were randomly allotted to diets with aggregate electrolyte balance of 210 (T1), 240 (T2), 270 (T3), 300 (T4), 330 (T5) and 360 (T6) mEq/Kg, in a completely randomised design. On day 35, birds whose weights were closest to the mean class weight were selected from each replicate pen for carcass yield assessment.
