BACKGROUND Paracoccidioidomycosis(PCM)may involve the hepatic pedicle and peripan creatic lymph nodes,cause damage to the bile duct and manifest,exceptionally,in combination with extrahepatic cholestasis(EHC),making investigation and treatment challenging.AIM To investigate the management of patients with visceral PCM admitted with EHC.METHODS All patients diagnosed with PCM treated in a public,tertiary teaching hospital between 1982 and 2020 were retrospectively evaluated.Those also identified with EHC were allocated to two groups according to the treatment approach for the purpose of comparing clinical,laboratory,and imaging findings,resources used for etiological diagnosis,treatment results,and prognosis.Statistical analyses were performed using the linear mixed-effects model(random and fixed effects),which was adjusted using the PROC MIXED procedure of the SAS®9.0 software,and Fisher’s exact test.RESULTS Of 1645 patients diagnosed with PCM,40(2.4%)had EHC.Of these,20(50.0%)lived in the rural area and 29(72.5%)were men,with a mean age of 27.1 years(3-65 years).Jaundice as first symptom and weight loss of at least 10 kg were observed in 16 patients(40.0%),and a mass in the head of the pancreas was observed in 8(20.0%).The etiological diagnosis was made by tissue collection during surgery in 4 cases(10.0%)and by endoscopic methods in 3 cases(7.5%).Twenty-seven patients(67.5%)received drug treatment alone(Group 1),whereas 13(32.5%)underwent endoscopic and/or surgical procedures in combination with drug treatment(Group 2).EHC was significantly reduced in both groups(40.7% in Group 1,with a mean time of 3 months;and 38.4% in Group 2,with a mean time of 7.5 months),with no statistically significant difference between them.EHC recurrence rates,associated mainly with treatment nonadherence,were similar in both groups:37% in Group 1 and 15.4% in Group 2.The mortality rate was 18.5% in Group 1 and 23% in Group 2,with survival estimates of 71.3% and 72.5%,respectively,with no statistically significant difference.CONCLUSI

Background:Studies on animals have demonstrated that maternal iron deficiency anaemia(IDA)could result in decreased cochlear sensory hair cells and reduced amplitudes of distortion-product otoacoustic emissions(DPOAEs)of young guinea pigs.Thus,it is essential to study the functioning of cochlear hair cells using DPOAEs in human newborn babies with maternal IDA.The current study explores maternal IDA’s effect on DPOAEs in newborn babies.Method:A total of 110 newborn babies with gestational age≥34 weeks were considered and a‘betweensubjects’design was used.The participants were divided into 3 groups-“Normal”(61 babies without maternal IDA),“Mild”(28 babies with mild maternal IDA)and“Moderate”(21 babies with moderate maternal IDA).The cord blood was collected and the DPOAEs were recorded for each baby for a range of frequencies(1 k 8 kHz)and a range of intensities(7040 dB SPL in 10 dB steps).Results:The analysis of both DP-gram and DP input-output(I/O)function showed that there was no significant difference(p>0.05)across the normal,mild,and moderate groups in the overall presence of DPOAEs as well as the amplitude across frequencies or intensities(7040 dB SPL).Also,the overall correlation of RBC indices with DPOAE amplitude across frequencies as well as the slope of the I/O function showed no relationship.Conclusion:The current study concludes that there is no effect of late-term maternal IDA on the DPOAEs of newborn babies.

The sensitive data stored in the public cloud by privileged users,such as corporate companies and government agencies are highly vulnerable in the hands of cloud providers and hackers.The proposed Virtual Cloud Storage Archi-tecture is primarily concerned with data integrity and conﬁdentiality,as well as availability.To provide conﬁdentiality and availability,theﬁle to be stored in cloud storage should be encrypted using an auto-generated key and then encoded into distinct chunks.Hashing the encoded chunks ensured theﬁle integrity,and a newly proposed Circular Shift Chunk Allocation technique was used to determine the order of chunk storage.Theﬁle could be retrieved by performing the opera-tions in reverse.Using the regenerating code,the model could regenerate the missing and corrupted chunks from the cloud.The proposed architecture adds an extra layer of security while maintaining a reasonable response time and sto-rage capacity.Experimental results analysis show that the proposed model has been tested with storage space and response time for storage and retrieval.The VCSA model consumes 1.5x(150%)storage space.It was found that total storage required for the VCSA model is very low when compared with 2x Replication and completely satisﬁes the CIA model.The response time VCSA model was tested with different sizedﬁles starting from 2 to 16 MB.The response time for storing and retrieving a 2 MBﬁle is 4.96 and 3.77 s respectively,and for a 16 MBﬁle,the response times are 11.06 s for storage and 5.6 s for retrieval.

为了解决当前图卷积网络需要依赖大型数据集,从而导致时间和空间复杂度上升问题,提出了基于自我监督学习策略的层智能图卷积网络(RRLFS-L-GCN)。首先,通过在层智能图卷积网络(layer-wise graph convolutional network,L-GCN)中添加多任务机制以提高算法的泛化能力;然后,设计一种随机删除固定步长边(aandomly remove links with a fixed step,RRLFS)的自我监督学习策略,从而提出基于自我监督学习策略的层智能图卷积网络算法;最后,通过边预测验证RRLFS-L-GCN的性能。实验结果表明,该算法的识别率最高可达97.13%。对于Cora测试集,该算法所得识别准确率比未改进的层智能图卷积网络算法提高了6.73%。对于PubMed测试集,该算法所得识别准确率比未改进的层智能图卷积网络算法提高了8.13%。与图卷积网络相比,在Citeseer数据集上,识别准确率提高了18.43%。

This study investigated the embryonic development of Maldives clownfish Amphiprion nigripes under natural conditions (28 - 30℃) at a lagoon of Agatti Island, Lakshadweep, India. The newly deposited fish egg was capsule-shaped and orange-red, with a (0.73 ± 0.04) mm3 yolk containing 5 - 10 fat globules. The embryonic development of fertilized eggs was divided into 26 stages and the time elapsing for each stage was recorded. Results showed that the cleavage was rapid, with the first division observed 1 h 20 min after fertilization. Blastulation occurred 4 h later, followed by gastrulation 12 h after fertilization, with a yolk volume of (0.61 ± 0.06) mm3. The organogenesis process started 22 h after fertilization when the blastopores closed and notochord formation began. The embryonic stage was recorded 24 h later, with the appearance of forebrain, midbrain, hindbrain, melanophores on yolk-sac and 22 somites, and a decreased yolk volume of (0.54 ± 0.08) mm3. Other organs developed well 31 h after fertilization, whereas the heart started beating and blood circulation began 78 h later. Red pigmentation (erytrophores) appeared 96 h after fertilization, with a small yolk volume of (0.22 ± 0.02) mm3. Mouth developed well and eyes were noticeable 120 h later, with head, pectoral fin and tail frequently moving 144 h after fertilization. The embryo reached the pre-hatching stage 168 h later and started to hatch after 170 - 180 h incubation. This study first detailed the embryonic development and yolk absorption of A. nigripes under natural conditions.

CRISPR-Cas9 is a powerful tool for generating targeted mutations and genomic deletions.However,precise gene insertion or sequence replacement remains a major hurdle before application of CRISPR-Cas9 technology is fully realized in plant breeding.Here,we report high-frequency,selectable marker-free intra-genomic gene targeting(GT)in maize.Heat shock-inducible Cas9 was used for generating targeted double-strand breaks and simultaneous mobilization of the donor template from pre-integratad T-DNA.The construct was designed such that release of the donor template and subsequent DNA repair activated expression of the selectable marker gene within the donor locus.This approach generated up to 4.7%targeted insertion of the donor sequence into the target locus in TO plants,with up to 86%detected donor template release and 99%mutation rate being observed at the donor loci and the genomic target site,respectively.Unlike previous in planta or intra-genomic homologous recombination reports in which the original chimeric GT plants required extensive progeny screening in the next generation to identify non-chimeric GT individuals,our method provides non-chimeric heritable GT in one generation.

Breeding and mass scale larval rearing of clownfish Amphiprion percula is very limited in brackishwater. We designed an indoor program of A. percula culture in brackishwater with a salinity of 24±1, during which the impacts of feed type, water temperature, and light intensity, on the efficiency of its reproduction, were revealed. The fish were accommodated along with sea anemones in fibre glass tanks to determine the influence of brooder diet on breeding efficiency. Higher reproductive efficiency [number of eggs laid (276 22.3 eggs)] was observed when fish were fed live Acetes sp. rather than clam (204 16.4 eggs), trash fish (155 12 eggs) and formulated feed (110 10 eggs). The spawning rate was increased during September and October (water temperature, 28.74 0.55°C) on average of 2.4 spawning per month; and low spawning rate was in January (water temperature, 24.55 0.45°C) on average of 1 spawning per month. Among three light intensities (100, 500, and 900 lx) set to evaluate larval survival rate, larvae showed the highest survival rate (65.5%) at 900 lx. The breeding method specifically in brackishwater developed in the present study is a new approach, will help the people from the regions of estuary and backwater to enhance their livelihood and it will lead to reduce the exploitation from the wild habitat.

This study aims to optimize the input parameters such as mass fraction and particle size of SiC along with depth of cut,feed and cutting speed in the milling of Al5059/SiC/MoS2.The hybrid metal matrix composites are generally fabricated by reinforcing of different sizes(10,20,40 μm)of SiC with aluminium at a different levels(5%,10%& 15%)whereas the MoS2 addition is fixed as 2%.The effect of each control factor on response variables are analyzed through Taguchi S/N ratio method.Also,the most significant method for prediction of response parameters is satisfied by ANN model than the regression model.Analysis of variance(ANOVA)results envisage that mass fraction of SiC,feed rate is the most domineering factor on response variable.

Objective:To isolate antibacterial potential of sponge endosymbiotic bacteria from marine sponges at Lakshadweep archipelago.Also to identify the potent bacteria by 16s rDNA sequencing and determine the antibacterial activity against clinical pathogens by MIC.Methods: Sponge samples was collected from sub-tidal habitats at Kavaratti Island and identified.The endosymbiotic bacteria were isolated and selected potential bacteria which show antibacterial activity in preliminary screening against clinical pathogens Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus), Escherichia coli(E.coli),Salmonella typhi(S.typhi),Klebsiella pneumoniea(K.pneumoniea) and Streptococcus sp.by disc diffusion assay.The crude extracts of potential bacteria LB3 was tested against clinical pathogens by MIC.The LB3 strain was identified by 16s rDNA sequencing, 1111 bp was submitted in NCBI(HQ589912) and constructed phylogenetic tree.Results:Sponge sample was identified as Dysidea granulosa(D.granulosa) and potential bacteria LB3 identified as Enterobacter sp TTAG.Preliminary screening of sponge isolates against clinical pathogens,LB3 strain was selected as potential producer of secondary metabolites and crude extract was implies on MIC of LB3 have confirmed with lowest concentration of 5.0 mg/mL in broth medium influence of crude extract on growth inhibitory activity after 5 h of incubation period and completed the inhibitory activity at 15 h.Conclusions:The present study concluded that phylogenetic analysis of endosymbiotic bacteria Enterobacter sp from sponge D.granulosa of Lakshadweep islands showed significant antibacterial activity against clinical bacterial pathogens.
