Groundwater Flow Patterns and Hydrochemical Facies Distribution Using Geographical Information System (GIS) in Damaturu, Northeast Nigeria

The present study attempts to define the relationship between groundwater flow systems and the distribution of chemical facies with the aid of Geographical Information System (GIS). The study also identifies the different geochemical processes responsible for the chemical evolution of groundwater chemistry. Analytical results of 23 groundwater samples reveal mean values of cations as Na+ (84.2 mg/l), K+ (4.2 mg/l), Ca2+ (27 mg/l), Mg2+ (11.5 mg/l) and Fe2+ (0.6 mg/l). The anion mean values are HCO3– (4.5 mg/l), SO42– (3.7 mg/l), Cl– (22.5 mg/l) and NO3– (2.2 mg/l). Based on mean values, the cations are in order of abundance as Na+ > Ca2+> Mg2+ > K+ > Fe2+ while the anions reveal order of abundance as Cl– > HCO3– > SO42– > NO3– . The geographical information system (GIS) using Inverse Distance Weighted (IDW) delineate two groundwater zones into: Ca-Mg-SO4-Cl and Na-SO4-Cl water types. The Ca-Mg-SO4-Cl constitutes about 35% of the chemical facies and its evolutionary trend is due to simple hydrochemical mixing between Ca-Mg-HCO3 and Na-SO4-Cl facies and reverse cation exchange. The Na-SO4-Cl facies constitutes about 65% of the chemical facies and represents fossil groundwater. The Ca-Mg-SO4-Cl facies is dominant in the recharge areas while Na-SO4-Cl facies prevails in discharge areas. Rock-water interaction diagrams indicate precipitation induced chemical weathering along with dissolution of rock-forming minerals. The scattered plots among ions revealed geochemical processes as carbonate weathering, silicate weathering, cation exchange and sulphate reduction. HCA identified effects of rock-water interaction and anthropogenic effects as responsible for the modification of groundwater chemistry in the area.

Application of metal oxides-based nanofluids in PV/T systems: a review

Having the wide application of metal oxides in energy technologies, in recent years, many researchers tried to increase the performance of the PV/T system by using metal oxide-based nanofluids (NFs) as coolants or optical filters or both at the same time. This paper summarizes recent research activities on various metal oxides (Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2, Fe3O4, CuO, ZnO, MgO)-based NFs performance in the PV/T system regarding different significant parameters, e.g., thermal conductivity, volume fraction, mass flowrate, electrical, thermal and overall efficiency, etc. By conducting a comparative study among the metal oxide-based NFs, Al2O3/SiO2-water NFs are mostly used to achieve maximum performance. The Al2O3-water NF has a prominent heat transfer feature with a maximum electrical efficiency of 17%, and a maximum temperature reduction of PV module of up to 36.9°C can be achieved by using the Al2O3-water NF as a coolant. Additionally, studies suggest that the PV cell’s efficiency of up to 30% can be enhanced by using a solar tracking system. Besides, TiO2-water NFs have been proved to have the highest thermal efficiency of 86% in the PV/T system, but TiO2 nanoparticles could be hazardous for human health. As a spectral filter, SiO2-water NF at a size of 5 nm and a volume fraction of 2% seems to be very favorable for PV/T systems. Studies show that the combined use of NFs as coolants and spectral filters in the PV/T system could provide a higher overall efficiency at a cheaper rate. Finally, the opportunities and challenges of using NFs in PV/T systems are also discussed.

Cervical cancer is a prevalent and deadly cancer that affects women all over the *** affects about 0.5 million women anually and results in over 0.3 million *** of this cancer was previously done manually,which could result in false positives or *** researchers are still contemplating how to detect cervical cancer automatically and how to evaluate Pap smear ***,this paper has reviewed several detection methods from the previous researches that has been done *** paper reviews pre-processing,detection method framework for nucleus detection,and analysis performance of the method *** are four methods based on a reviewed technique from previous studies that have been running through the experimental procedure using Matlab,and the dataset used is established Herlev *** results show that the highest performance assessment metric values obtain from Method 1:Thresholding and Trace region boundaries in a binary image with the values of precision 1.0,sensitivity 98.77%,speciﬁcity 98.76%,accuracy 98.77%and PSNR 25.74%for a single type of ***,the average values of precision were 0.99,sensitivity 90.71%,speciﬁcity 96.55%,accuracy 92.91%and PSNR 16.22%.The experimental results are then compared to the existing methods from previous *** show that the improvement method is able to detect the nucleus of the cell with higher performance assessment *** the other hand,the majority of current approaches can be used with either a single or a large number of cervical cancer smear *** study might persuade other researchers to recognize the value of some of the existing detection techniques and offer a strong approach for developing and implementing new solutions.

Grid-connected reactive-load compensation and harmonic control are becoming a central topic as photovoltaic(PV)grid-connected systems *** research aims to produce a high-performance inverter with a fast dynamic response for accurate reference tracking and a low total har-monic distortion(THD)even under nonlinear load applications by improving its control *** proposed system is expected to operate in both stand-alone mode and grid-connected *** stand-alone mode,the proposed controller supplies power to critical loads,alternatively during grid-connected mode provide excess energy to the utility.A modified variable step incremental conductance(VS-InCond)algorithm is designed to extract maximum power from *** the proposed inverter controller is achieved by using a modified PQ theory with double-band hysteresis current controller(PQ-DBHCC)to produce a reference current based on a decomposition of a single-phase load *** nonlinear rectifier loads often create significant distortion in the output voltage of single-phase inverters,due to excessive current harmonics in the ***,the proposed method generates a close-loop reference current for the switching scheme,hence,minimizing the inverter voltage distortion caused by the excessive grid current *** simulation findings suggest the proposed control technique can effectively yield more than 97%of power conversion efficiency while suppressing the grid current THD by less than 2%and maintaining the unity power factor at the grid *** efficacy of the proposed controller is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink.

Unplanned pregnancy is a pregnancy that is either mistimed or unwanted at the time of conception. It is a core concept in understanding the fertility of populations and the unmet need for contraception. Unintended pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of morbidity for women, and with health behaviors during pregnancy with adverse effects. And the aim of this study is to establish the level of effect of the unplanned pregnancy in women college in Wadajir district. This study used a cross-sectional study design. And the aim of this study is to establish the level of effect of the unplanned pregnancy on women college in Wadajir district. This study was being used cross sectional study design. This research had undertaken Wadajir district in Banadir region Mogadishu-Somalia. The sample size was 60 participating in the data collection phase from 1-30 Jun 2020. This study used primary data. This was collected from respondents in the area of study. Data was collected using a pre-cod structured questionnaire for the survey. Data showed that: 39 (65%) of the respondents answered yes that lack of education caused most unplanned pregnancy, 40 (66%) said that low-income countries are the risk factor of unplanned pregnancy, 47 (78%) of the respondents answered family planning is most common preventive for unplanned pregnancy, and 0 (67%) said that school dropout is the most compilation of unplanned pregnancy. Based on the findings of this research, the knowledge of the majority of respondents about unplanned pregnancy among women college replied yes, and they also replied that the most cause of unplanned pregnancy among women college is lack of education.
