Currently,ionizing radiation(IR)plays a key role in the agricultural and medical industry,while accidental exposure resulting from leakage of radioactive sources or radiological terrorism is a serious *** to IR has various detrimental effects on normal *** an increased risk of carcinogenesis is the best-known long-term consequence of IR,evidence has shown that other diseases,particularly diseases related to inflammation,are common disorders among irradiated *** disorders are among the various types of immune diseases that have been investigated among exposed *** diseases and diabetes are two autoimmune diseases potentially induced by ***,the precise mechanisms of IR-induced thyroid diseases and diabetes remain to be elucidated,and several studies have shown that chronic increased levels of inflammatory cytokines after exposure play a pivotal ***,cytokines,including interleukin-1(IL-1),tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α)and interferon gamma(IFN-α),play a key role in chronic oxidative damage following exposure to ***,these cytokines change the secretion of insulin and thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH).It is likely that the management of inflammation and oxidative damage is one of the best strategies for the amelioration of these diseases after a radiological or nuclear *** the present study,we reviewed the evidence of radiation-induced diabetes and thyroid diseases,as well as the potential roles of inflammatory *** addition,we proposed that the mitigation of inflammatory and oxidative damage markers after exposure to IR may reduce the incidence of these diseases among individuals exposed to radiation.

The number of mobile devices accessing wireless networks isskyrocketing due to the rapid advancement of sensors and wireless communicationtechnology. In the upcoming years, it is anticipated that mobile datatraffic would rise even more. The development of a new cellular networkparadigm is being driven by the Internet of Things, smart homes, and moresophisticated applications with greater data rates and latency *** are being used up quickly due to the steady growth of smartphonedevices andmultimedia apps. Computation offloading to either several distantclouds or close mobile devices has consistently improved the performance ofmobile devices. The computation latency can also be decreased by offloadingcomputing duties to edge servers with a specific level of computing ***-to-device (D2D) collaboration can assist in processing small-scaleactivities that are time-sensitive in order to further reduce task delays. The taskoffloading performance is drastically reduced due to the variation of differentperformance capabilities of edge nodes. Therefore, this paper addressed thisproblem and proposed a new method for D2D communication. In thismethod, the time delay is reduced by enabling the edge nodes to exchangedata samples. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has betterperformance than traditional algorithm.

Flue gas heat loss accounts for a significant component of theoverall heat loss for coal-fired boilers in power plants. The flue gas absorbsmore heat as the exhaust gas temperature rises, which reduces boiler efficiencyand raises coal consumption. Additionally, if the exhaust gas temperatureis too high, a lot of water must be used to cool the flue gas for the wetflue gas desulfurization system to function well, which has an impact onthe power plant’s ability to operate profitably. It is consequently vital totake steps to lower exhaust gas temperatures in order to increase boilerefficiency and decrease the amount of coal and water used. Desulfurizationperformance may be enhanced and water use can be decreased by reasonableflue gas characteristics at the entry. This study analyzed the unit’s energyconsumption, investment, and coal savings while proposing four couplingstrategies for regulating flue gas temperature and waste heat recovery. Agraded flue gas conditioning and waste heat recovery plan was presentedunder the condition of ensuring high desulfurization efficiency, along withthe notion of minimizing energy loss owing to energy inflow temperaturedifference. Numerical results show that the proposed methods improved thesystem performance and reduced the water consumption and regulated theboiler temperature.

Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is a breakthrough technologyin the transfer of medical data via a communication system. Wearable sensordevices collect patient data and transfer them through mobile internet, thatis, the IoMT. Recently, the shift in paradigm from manual data storage toelectronic health recording on fog, edge, and cloud computing has been *** advanced computing technologies have facilitated medical services withminimum cost and available conditions. However, the IoMT raises a highconcern on network security and patient data privacy in the health caresystem. The main issue is the transmission of health data with high security inthe fog computing model. In today’s market, the best solution is blockchaintechnology. This technology provides high-end security and authenticationin storing and transferring data. In this research, a blockchain-based fogcomputing model is proposed for the IoMT. The proposed technique embedsa block chain with the yet another consensus (YAC) protocol building securityinfrastructure into fog computing for storing and transferring IoMT data inthe network. YAC is a consensus protocol that authenticates the input datain the block chain. In this scenario, the patients and their family membersare allowed to access the data. The empirical outcome of the proposedtechnique indicates high reliability and security against dangerous *** major advantages of using the blockchain model are high transparency,good traceability, and high processing speed. The technique also exhibitshigh reliability and efficiency in accessing data with secure transmission. Theproposed technique achieves 95% reliability in transferring a large number offiles up to 10,000.

3D Ergonomic Board: Kids Teaching and Learning Proposition

The caprice for the study came from an indigenous designed instructional board for teaching learners in nursery/primary schools (2 - 10 years) and the task whose overall topic is the reminiscence, retention of visuals aid use in the pedagogy. The study is to appraise the opinion of toddlers/teachers about the helpfulness of 3D-visuals (ergonomic board);the clarity of the intended functions of the 3D-visuals in the toddler’s lessons instruction and support from the producers in using them;and why visuals (conventional visual aids) in schoolroom instruction are misjudged/misinterpreted;their view about the functions in specific (conventional visuals) for the instruction pedagogy;and other sources of visuals provided other than the lesson’s instruction. Four nursery/primary schools participated in the study. Seventy-two (72) toddler’s/teachers participated in the study. The study examined using quantitative and qualitative approach for statistical analysis (using pie-chart and histogram). The findings suggested that the aspects of visuals items selected for comment and description are to some extent circumscribed by toddler’s learners’ linguistic resources. Understandably, the point made by researchers referred that visuals often fail to support learning as effectively as they might because they are not regarded as a full-fledged information mode that requires the same careful processing as verbal text, is borne out by the findings. Recommendation, the accountability is above all on producers of kid’s instructional materials: authors, editors, designers and illustrators of the materials. The implication of this is that toddlers’ instructional materials should, as in the case of illustrated books include both an overt explanation of the overall philosophy toward visuals and overview of their use.

Aortic Valve in Black: A Case of Aortic Valve Ochronosis

Alkaptonuria is a rare inherited tyrosine metabolism disorder, resulting in homogentisic acid deposition in the connective tissues. The condition is commonly referred to as ochronosis and manifests as skin pigmentation, degenerative arthropathy, and black urine. Among the rare complications of this disease is the involvement of the cardiovascular system. We report a case of a 63-year-old woman with alkaptonuric ochronosis who had already undergone three joint replacements. She was referred to our center for aortic valve replacement after accidentally discovering severe aortic valve stenosis in the preoperative assessment prior to her fourth joint replacement. Intraoperative findings included ochronosis of a severely calcified black-pigmented aortic valve and black pigmentation of the aortic intima. Histopathological analysis and elevated homogentisic acid levels in the patient’s urine confirmed the diagnosis of alkaptonuria. However, alkaptonuria was not diagnosed until aortic valve replacement despite the previous symptoms and signs. This report aims to outline the history, etiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, and treatment of aortic valve ochronosis in addition to presenting the case.

Characterization and risk factors for unexplained female infertility in Sudan:A case-control study

BACKGROUND Female infertility with unknown causes(unexplained)remains one of the mysteries in the reproductive health field,where the diagnostic evidence is still weak and the proposed treatments still work with unknown ***,several studies have proposed some possible causes and risk factors for unexplained female *** To characterize and identify factors associated with unexplained infertility in Sudanese *** A matched(age and body mass index)case-control study was conducted from March 2021 to February *** study samples were 210 women with unexplained infertility(UI)and 190 fertile women of reproductive age who were attending the maternity hospitals and fertility clinics in Khartoum,*** risk factors of unexplained infertility were identified using a structured,pretested questionnaire containing information on socio-demographic variables,anthropometrics,clinical diagnosis of infertility,behavioral factors,physical activity assessment,diversity,and consumption of different food groups by the study *** The results showed a higher proportion of women diagnosed with UI were residents of rural areas than controls(21.4%vs 11.1%,P<0.05),and previous miscarriages and/or abortions were more common in fertile women compared with infertile women(13.16%vs 5.71%,P<0.05).Additionally,infertile women had a significantly(P<0.05)higher proportion of family history of infertility(explained and unexplained)compared with ***,after controlling for the effects of potentially confounding variables using multivariable logistic regression analysis,only marital status,family history of infertility,use of modern contraceptives,smoking,caffeine consumption,physical activity level,meals consumed,other vitamin-A-rich fruits and vegetables,and other vegetables were found to be significant(P<0.05)factors associated with unexplained infertility among Sudanese *** Married women with a family history of infertility

Organic Carbon (OC) and Organic Matter (OM) in Sediments Collected from Two Wetlands in Central Bida Basin, Nigeria

An improvised auger sediment sampler was used to collect sediments at shallow depths from two wetlands in the Northern Bida Basin for laboratory studies in order to ascertain the impact on the chemical quality of groundwater within these two studied locations. The dissolved organic carbon content of water is an important component of the geochemical cycling of elements capable of affecting groundwater quality. The sediments which serve as a conduit and pathways for the elements’ transport depending on the characteristics of the particle sizes are to be considered in the evaluation of contaminant mobility within the pathways. Representative cored sediment samples were collected and their particle size characterization and chemical analysis for Organic Matter (OM), Organic Carbon (OC) and Moisture Content (MC) were carried out. The hydrometer results show that the sediment particle sizes are in the order of sand > clay > silt in both locations with few exceptions. This represents the geology of the area (sandstone). The Mean values of 1.14% and 1.98% of OC and OM respectively were recorded in the sediment samples collected in parts of Ebgako. In contrast, 1.72% and 2.97% mean values were recorded in sediments collected in part of Bida for OC and OM respectively. The values of the OC and OM in the sediments from the two wetlands are low and may have been dissolved along the groundwater pathways to the aquifer. Other physicochemical parameters analysed in the sediments showed poor correlation. OM and OC were strongly positively correlated and showed an R2 value of 1 and 0.9 respectively for parts of the Bida and Egbako sheets. There is low acidity of the sediments from the two study locations with a mean pH value of 5.64 and 5.13 respectively for Egbako and Bida. The low acidic nature of the sediments and the OM and OC composition have the potential to influence biogeochemical processes in the sediments and can affect the chemical quality of the groundwater i

Case-based surveillance measles data was defined according to World Health Organization （WHO） guidelines. A total of 511 measles cases were studied from 2011 to 2015 in Southern Darfur State, Sudan and 58.1% of cases were confirmed from Nyala city. About 43.4% of cases were males, 56.6% of cases were female, and 47.7% were children under five years old. Similarity, within February to June, the cases increased by 8.0% in children vaccinated through measles campaign, and 5.3% in children that used child vaccination card and 78.7% in unvaccinated one.
