Tilted global solar irradiance in Bah.ain: an experimental study

In th. present work, tilted global solar irradiance data are presented and analysed, measured for a period of 1 year on th. campus of Bah.ain Polytech.ic, Kingdom of Bah.ain, from both.a fixed ph.tovoltaic panel and a moving one via a two-axis solar tracker. Th. fixed panel faces south.with.an angle of 26 degrees with.respect to th. h.rizontal, coinciding with.th. local geograph.cal latitude. Th. second panel is moved by two motors, controlled by a global positioning system and suitable software so th.t th. Sun's rays are perpendicular to th. panel surface. A pyranometer is installed on each.panel, recording th. tilted global solar irradiance, stored by using a data logger. Th. analysis of th. data obtained sh.ws a 33% solar energy gain on an annual basis for th. moving panel (2780 versus 2088 kWh.m2 on th. fixed panel). More importantly, in June, wh.n th. energy demand in Bah.ain is elevated due to th. increased residential cooling loads, th. solar energy received by th. moving panel is 54.7% h.gh.r compared with.th.t of th. fixed panel. On a percentage basis, th. increase in solar energy from th. moving panel is profound in th. early morning and late evening h.urs. Moreover, th. reduction in th. solar energy received by th. fixed panel from May to June does not appear in th. moving panel because of th. adjustable orientation of th. latter. Th.ough.ut th. year, th. mean daily solar power varies between 0.37 and 0.56 kW/m2 for th. fixed panel, and 0.45 and 0.70 kW/m2 for th. moving panel. In winter, solar energy fluctuations are elevated due to erratic weath.r conditions th.t present a peak standard deviation of 28% of th. corresponding mean. Th. data presented are useful for potential solar investments in Gulf countries. Th.s paper validates th. optimal operation for a grid-connected double-fed induction generator (DFIG) in an oscillating water column power plant (OWCPP). Th.s study presents a novel optimization tech.ique called th. circulatory system-based optimization (CSBO) approach.to develop six adaptive fuzzy logic controllers (AFLCs) with.30 parameters and compare th.m to ch.otic-billiards optimization (C-BO) and genetic algorith. (GA). Th. proposed controller is also compared with.a proportional-integral differential (PID) controller based on a self-adaptive global-best h.rmony search.(SGh.). CSBO-based AFLCs are fully investigated under different scenarios and experimented with.using a real-time interface DSP1104. Th. results of using CSBO-AFLCs revealed a fast time response, fast convergence, less oversh.ot and minimal error compared with.th.se ach.eved with.C-BO-AFLC, SGh.-PID and GA-AFLC during different case studies. Th. CSBO-based AFLCs ensure maximum power from th. DFIG in an OWCPP and enh.nce dynamic response with.very low errors. Th. results sh.w th.t th. CSBO sh.ws better power tracking by 25% as compared with.C-BO, by 45% wh.n compared with.th. GA and by 56% wh.n compared with.PID. Moreover, th. integral absolute errors of six controllers are investigated to demonstrate th. feasibility of CSBO-AFLC. Th. root mean square of th. errors of six controllers using CSBO is improved by 68.27% wh.n compared with.GA, by 22.57% wh.n compared with.C-BO and by 38.42% wh.n compared with.PID. Th.se indicators demonstrate th. feasibility of CSBO wh.n compared with.oth.r algorith.s with.th. same OWCPP. Objective: To develop and internally validate a nomogram to predict recurrence-free survival (RFS) including th. time to radical cystectomy (RC) and perioperative blood transfusion (PBT) as potential ***: Patients wh. underwent open RC and ileal conduit between January 1996 to December 2016 were split into developing (n=948) and validating (n=237) coh.rts. Th. time to radical cystectomy (TTC) was defined as th. interval between th. onset of symptoms and RC. Th. regression coefficients of th. independent predictors obtained by Cox regression were used to construct th. nomogram. Discrimination, validation, and clinical usefulness in th. validation coh.rt were assessed by th. area under th. curve, th. calibration plot, and decision curve ***: In th. developing dataset, th. 1-, 5-, and 10-year RFS were 83.0%, 47.2%, and 44.4%, respectively. On multivariate analysis, independent predictors were TTC (h.zards ratio [h.] 1.07, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.05-1.08, ph. 1.40, 95% CI 1.03-1.90, p=0.03;two or more units: h. 1.72, 95% CI 1.29-2.29, ph.droneph.osis (h. 1.54, 95% CI 1.21-1.97, ph. 0.60, 95% CI 0.45-0.81, p=0.001), pT3-T4 (h. 1.77, 95% CI 1.41-2.22, ph.node status (h. 1.53, 95% CI 1.21-1.95, ph.vascular invasion (h. 1.28, 95% CI 1.01-1.62, p=0.044). Th. areas under th. curve in th. validation dataset were 79.3%, 69.6%, and 76.2%, for 1-, 5-, and 10-year RFS, respectively. Calibration plots sh.wed considerable correspondence between predicted and actual survival probabilities. Th. decision curve analysis revealed a better net benefit of th. ***: A nomogram with.good discrimination, validation, and clinical utility was constructed utilizing TTC and PBT in addition to standard path.logical criteria.
