BACKGROUND Insulin resistance is a risk factor for metabolic syndromes and is associated with a wide variety of metabolic illnesses,including obesity,type 2 diabetes,and cardiovascular *** To investigate and map global insulin resistance *** A bibliometric methodology was applied to the literature retrieved from the scopus database and Reference Citation Analysis(https://***)by using a validated search *** study period was limited from 2002 to *** indicators and mapping were *** A total of 26808 articles on the topic of insulin resistance were included in the scopus *** articles included research articles(n=21918;81.76%),review articles(n=2641;9.85%),and letters(n=653;2.44%).During the study period,136 countries contributed to the research on insulin *** highest number of articles was from the United states(n=7360;27.45%),followed by China(n=3713;13.85%),Japan(n=1730,6.45%),Italy(n=1545;5.54%),and the United Kingdom(n=1484;5.54%).The retrieved articles identified two main research themes:“inflammatory mechanisms in the regulation of insulin resistance”and“mechanisms linking obesity to insulin resistance”.CONCLUsION Our data show that insulin resistance has steadily gained interest from researchers,as evidenced by the number of citations and yearly *** have grown significantly in the last decade,while low-income countries with greater burdens continue to produce fewer publications in this *** approach might assist researchers in choosing new research areas and recognizing research hotspots and *** the future,perhaps high-quality clinical evidence will be acquired.

Polyherbal formula sC-E3 inhibits rheumatoid arthritis activity in a mouse model of type-Ⅱcollagen-induced arthritis

Objective:sC-E3 is a polyherbal formula that contains five medicinal herbs used frequently in traditional herbal *** our previous study,we demonstrated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of *** present study examined the effects of sC-E3 in a mouse model of type-II collagen-induced arthritis(CIA).Methods:In vivo,male DBA/1 J mice were immunized by intradermal injection of bovine type-II collagen and complete or incomplete Freund’s adjuvant,to induce ***-E3 was orally administered daily for 23 *** vitro,bone marrow-derived macrophages(BMMs)were treated with macrophage colony-stimulating factor(M-CsF)and receptor activator of nuclear factor-j B ligand(RANKL)in the absence or presence of ***:Administrations of sC-E3 were found to have anti-arthritic effects in the joints of CIA mice,as evidenced by reduced paw swelling,bone erosion and deformation,inflammatory cell infiltration,and inflammation in synovial ***-E3 also reduced serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-a,interleukin-1 b,aspartate aminotransferase and alanine ***,tartrateresistant acid phosphatase-positive osteoclast numbers in the joints were significantly lower in sC-E3-treated CIA mice than in CIA *** addition,the differentiations of BMMs to multinucleated osteoclasts induced by M-CsF and RANKL stimulation were dose-dependently reduced by ***:These results suggest that sC-E3 possesses substantial anti-arthritic activity because it inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines and osteoclastogenesis,and that sC-E3 has potential therapeutic use for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Anti-Alzheimer's disease potential of coumarins from Angelica decursiva and Artemisia capillaris and structure-activity analysis

Objective: To use structure-activity analysis to study the anti-Alzheimer's disease(anti-AD) activity of natural coumarins isolated from Angelica decursiva and Artemisia capillaries, along with one purchased coumarin(daphnetin). Methods: Umbelliferone, umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, scopoletin, isoscopoletin, 7-methoxy coumarin, scoparone, scopolin, and esculetin have been previously isolated; however 2'-isopropyl psoralene was isolated from Angelica decursiva for the first time to evaluate their inhibitory effects against acetylcholinesterase(ACh E), butyrylcholinesterase(BCh E), and β-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme 1(BACE1) enzyme activity. We scrutinized the potentials of coumarins as cholinesterase and BACE1 inhibitors via enzyme kinetics and molecular docking simulation. Results: Among the test compounds, umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin exhibited potent inhibitory activity against ACh E, BCh E and BACE1. Both esculetin and daphnetin have a catechol group and exhibit significant anti-AD activity against ACh E and BCh E. In contrast, presence of a sugar moiety and methoxylation markedly reduced the anti-AD activity of the coumarins investigated in this study. With respect to BACE1 inhibition, umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin contained carboxyl or catechol groups, which significantly contributed to their antiAD activities. To further investigate these results, we generated a 3D structure of BACE1 using Autodock 4.2 and simulated binding of umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin. Docking simulations showed that different residues of BACE1 interacted with hydroxyl and carboxylic groups, and the binding energies of umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin were negative(-4.58,-6.25 and-6.37 kcal/mol respectively). Conclusions: Taken together, our results suggest that umbelliferone 6-carboxylic acid, esculetin and daphnetin have anti-AD effects by inhibiting ACh E, BCh

Physiological Response of the Resurrection Fern subjected to Environmental stress as shown by Plant Cell Membrane Integrity

Resurrection fern has a unique ability to maintain cell wall integrity when the plant cell is desiccated. It uses proteins such as late embryogenesis proteins and heat shock proteins to maintain their cellular functions. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effects of environmental stressors on the physiological response of the resurrection fern (Pleopeltis polypodioides). The physiological response of resurrection fern plants was subjected to various temperatures (-50°C, 0°C, 25°C, and 50°C) for 7 days. Results indicated that there was a significant difference between hydrated and desiccated ferns based on the temperature. Additionally, electrolyte leakage measurements confirmed cell damage following exposure to temperature extremes of -50°C and 50°C.

The Role of Emotional Intelligence in Enhancing Organizational Effectiveness: The Case of Information Technology Managers in Jordan

The aim of this research is to explore the role of emotional intelligence (awareness of one’s own emotion, management of one’s own emotion, awareness of other’s emotion, and management of other’s emotion) on organizational effectiveness in Jordanian public shareholding firms. A total of 154 questionnaire containing 29 items was used to collect information from the respondents. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to test the research hypotheses. Results of the current study revealed that there were significant positive impacts of management of one’s own emotion, awareness of other’s emotion, and management of other’s emotion on organizational effectiveness, whereas awareness of one’s own emotion did not have a significant impact on organizational effectiveness. Also, the results revealed that there was no significant difference in the impact of emotional intelligence on organizational effectiveness that could be attributed to gender. On the other hand, results of ANOVA test indicated that there were significant differences in the impact of emotional intelligence on organizational effectiveness in favor of age and experience.

Temperature-Responsive Tensile Actuator Based on Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube Yarn

Many temperature indicators or sensors show color changes for materials used in food and medical ***, they are not helpful for a color-blind person or children who lack judgment. In this paper, we introduce simply fabricated and more useful low-temperature indicator(~30 °C) for devices that actuates using paraffin-infiltrated multiwalled carbon nanotube(MWCNT) coiled yarn. The density difference of MWCNT yarn provides large strain(~330 %)when heat causes the melted polymer to move. Furthermore, the MWCNT yarn decreases the melting point of *** properties allow control of the actuating temperature. In addition, mechanical strength was enhanced by MWCNT than previously reported temperature-responsive actuators based on shape memory polymers. This simply fabricated temperature indicator can be applied in latching devices for medical and biological fields.

A control method is presented for the problem of decentralized stabilizationof large scale nonlinear systems by designing robust controllers, in the sense of L2-gaincontrol, for each subsystem. An uncertainty tolerance matrix is defined to characterize thedesired robustness leve1 of the overall system. It is then identified that, for a given uncer-tainty tolerance matrix, the design problem is related to the existence of a smooth Positivedefinite solution to a modified Ham ilton -Jacobi - Bellman (H-J-B ) equa tion. The solution,if exists, is exactly the payoff function in terms of the game theory. A decentralized statefeedback law is duly designed, which, under the weak assumption of the zero-state ob-servability on the system, renders the overall closed-loop system aspoptotically stable withan explicitly expressed stability region. Finally, relation between the payoff function andthe uncertainty tolerance matrix is provided, highlighting the 'knowing less and payingmore' philosophy.

Osteoclasts are multinucleated bone-resorbing cells,and their formation is tightly regulated to prevent excessive bone ***,the mechanisms by which osteoclast formation is restricted remain incompletely ***,we found that sterol regulatory element binding protein 2(sREBP2)functions as a negative regulator of osteoclast formation and inflammatory bone *** and sREBP2,a key transcription factor for cholesterol biosynthesis,increased in the late phase of osteoclastogenesis.
