With the advent in services such as telemedicine and telesurgery,provision of continuous quality monitoring for these services has become a challenge for the network *** standards for provision of such services are application specic as medical imagery is quite different than general purpose images and *** paper presents a novel full reference objective video quality metric that focuses on estimating the quality of wireless capsule endoscopy(WCE)videos containing bleeding *** regions in gastrointestinal tract have been focused in this research,as bleeding is one of the major reasons behind several diseases within the *** method jointly estimates the diagnostic as well as perceptual quality of WCE videos,and accurately predicts the quality,which is in high correlation with the subjective differential mean opinion scores(DMOS).The proposed combines motion quality estimates,bleeding regions’quality estimates based on support vector machine(SVM)and perceptual quality estimates using the pristine and impaired WCE *** method Quality Index for Bleeding Regions in Capsule Endoscopy(QI-BRiCE)videos is one of its kind and the results show high correlation in terms of Pearson’s linear correlation coefcient(PLCC)and Spearman’s rank order correlation coefcient(SROCC).An F-test is also provided in the results section to prove the statistical signicance of our proposed method.

The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of the types and thicknesses of glass ceramic plates on light transmittance and compare the degrees of conversion(DC) of resin cement under the ceramic materials. Three ceramic plates with thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, and 4.0 mm were fabricated from each of five commercial ceramic blocks in shade A2: high-translucency and low-translucency IPS Empress CAD(EmpHT and EmpLT); high-translucency and low-translucency IPS *** CAD(EmxHT and EmxLT); and Vita Mark Ⅱ(Vita). The translucency parameter was obtained using a colorimeter. The light transmittance rate was measured using a photodetector attached to an optical power meter. The DC of a resin cement(Variolink N) underneath the ceramic plates was examined by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The translucency parameter, light transmittance rate, and DC showed significant differences by ceramic type and thickness(P 0.05). Both type and thickness of the glass ceramics significantly influenced the light transmittance and DC of the light-cured resin cement beneath the ceramic of the same shade.

Biochemical outcomes after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy in patients with follow-up more than 5-years

In this study, we assessed biochemical outcomes after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy （RARP）. Between July 2005 and November 2007, one hundred and seventy-six consecutive patients treated by RARP without neoadjuvant treatment were included in this study. All procedures were performed by a single surgeon and the median follow-up period was 60 months （interquartile range （IQR）： 59-69）. The median prostate specific antigen was 7.50 ng ml-1 （IQR： 5.14-11.45） and 39.2% of the patients were classified as intermediate risk and 15.3% were classified as high risk; on final pathological examination, 35.2% of the patients had non-organ confined disease and 37.5% and 14.2% had Gleason scores of 7 and 8-10, respectively. The biochemical recurrence （BCR）-free survival rates at 3 and 5 years were 85.6% and 81.2%, respectively. The 5-year BCR-free survival rates stratified by pathologic Gleason scores were 93.1% in Gleason scores of 6 or less, 74.5% in a Gleason score of 7, and 58.1% in Gleason scores of 8 or greater, respectively （P〈0.001）. When stratified by pathologic stage, the BCR-free survival rates were 89.8% in pT2 patients, 66.2% in pT3a patients, and 39.3% in pT3b patients at 5 years following RARP, respectively （P〈0.001）. Preoperative prostate-specific antigen （PSA）, pathologic stage, postoperative Gleason score and surgical margin status were independently associated with BCR in multivariate analysis. In this study, we report biochemical outcomes after RARP with the longest follow-up periods to date in Asian men. We found that robotic surgery provided satisfactory biochemical outcomes, and that RARP is a safe and effective procedure in terms of oncologic outcomes.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of different extracts of Diospyros lotus leaves in atopic dermatitis Methods: Diospyros lotus leaves were extracted in ethanol and treated with or without hydrochloric acid or α-rhamnosidase to obtain three different extracts-ethanol, acid-hydrolyzed, and enzyme-hydrolyzed leaf extracts of date plum. The myricitrin content in all samples was measured using HPLC analysis. In vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of the extracts were determined by measuring DPPH radical scavenging activities and nitric oxide production in RAW264.7 cells, respectively. Sevenweek-old male hairless mice were used to evaluate the anti-atopic dermatitis effects of three extracts in vivo. Splenocytes and mast cells were used to further determine the anti-atopic dermatitis effects of the major compound in the ethanol leaf ***: Enzyme-hydrolyzed leaf extract showed significant in vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, and attenuated atopic dermatitis-like skin symptoms and clinical signs more significantly than ethanol and acid-hydrolyzed leaf extracts in 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene and house dust mite antigen-treated hairless mice. Enzyme-hydrolyzed leaf extract also suppressed the serum level of immunoglobulin E, interleukin(IL)-4, tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α, interferon(IFN)-γ, thymic stromal lymphopoietin, and thymus and activation-regulated chemokine in mice with atopic dermatitis. Furthermore, histological analysis revealed that enzymehydrolyzed leaf extract suppressed the increased epidermal thickness, dermal infiltration of inflammatory cells, and infiltration and degranulation of mast cells more markedly than the other two extracts in atopic dermatitis-like skin lesions. In addition, this extract effectively inhibited the production of IFN-γ, IL-4, and thymus and activation-regulated chemokine compared with the other two extracts in concanavalin A-stimulated splenocytes. BACKGROUND: Although perioperative portal vein (PV) stent implantation is an effective treatment for steno-occlusive disease in adult living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) re-cipients, we experienced high incidence of biliary anastomotic strictures (BAS) after PV stenting. In this study, we sought to clarify the relation between BAS and PV stenting and to suggest the possible mechanism of BAS and measures to reduce its in-cidence. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 44 LDLT recipients who underwent PV stent implantation across the line of PV anastomosis regardless of the location of steno-occlusion (stent group) and their matched controls (non-stented LDLT recipients, n=131). RESULTS: The incidence of BAS was higher in patients in the stent group than that in the control group (43.2% vs 17.6%, P=0.001). Cumulative 6-month and 1-, 2- and 5-year BAS rates were 31.8%, 34.1%, 41.4% and 43.2%, respectively, in the stent group and 13.0%, 13.8%, 16.1% and 17.8%, respectively, in the control group (P=0.001). Multivariate analysis revealed that PV stenting was an independent risk factor for BAS. CONCLUSIONS: Although PV stent implantation is a reliable treatment modality for steno-occlusive PV in adult LDLT recipients, innovative methods to prevent the PV stent from crossing the line of PV anastomosis may be necessary to reduce the incidence of postoperative BAS.
