The massive reductions in anthropogenic emissions resulting from the COVID-19 lockdown provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the effect of mitigation measures aiming to abate air *** Mexico,the total lockdown period took place during the dry-hot season when biomass burning activity is ***,we investigate the role of biomass burning emissions on regional ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central *** studied period covers the lockdown phases 2 and 3,and the first month of the new *** applied a factor separation technique and process analysis to estimate the pure and synergistic contributions of emission reductions under lockdown and that from biomass burning to daily ozone maximum concentrations in 7 metropolitan areas of different states in the *** results revealed that biomass burning plumes likely masked the effect of massive reductions from mobile emissions,impacted the PBL development during phase 3 and favored transition and mixed nO_(x)-limited and VOC-limited regional *** contributed to increased ozone production in the middle to lower PBL by changing the regional background levels which potentially could bias high ozone production efficiency *** the Megalopolis contribution to economic and societal development at national scale,our study suggests that ozone mitigation measures during the dry-hot season targeting mainly mobile emissions will likely be offset by biomass burning plumes.A regional and synergic policy aiming to control biomass burning would help to reduce the occurrence of high ozone levels in Central Mexico with the co-benefit of tackling short-lived climate pollutants.

The use of mobile laser scanning to survey forest ecosystems is a promising,scalable technology to describe forest 3D structures at high *** confirm the con-sistency in the retrieval of forest structural parameters using hand-held laser scanning(HLS),before operationalizing the method,confirming the data is *** analyzed the per-formance of tree-level mapping based on HLS under differ-ent phenology conditions on a mixed forest in western Spain comprising Pinus pinaster and two deciduous species,Alnus glutinosa and Quercus *** area was surveyed twice during the growing season(July 2022)and once in the deciduous season(February 2022)using several scan-ning *** reference data(418 trees,15 snags)was used to calibrate the HLS data and to assess the influence of phenology when converting 3D data into tree-level attrib-utes(DBH,height and volume).The HLS-based workflow was robust at isolating tree positions and recognizing stems despite changes in ***-six percent of all pairs matched below 65 *** DBH,phenology barely altered *** observed a strong agreement when comparing HLS-based tree height *** values exceeded 2 m when comparing height measurements,confirming height data should be carefully used as reference in remote sensing-based inventories,especially for deciduous *** volume was more precise for pines(r=0.95,and rela-tive RMSE=21.3–23.8%)compared to deciduous species(r=0.91–0.96,and relative RMSE=27.3–30.5%).HLS data and the forest structural complexity tool performed remark-ably,especially in tree positioning considering mixed forests and mixed phenology conditions.

Background Deciphering the genetic architecture of drought tolerance could allow the candidate genes identification responding to water stress. In the Andean Patagonian forest, the genus nothofagus represents an ecologically relevant species to be included in different genomic studies. These studies are scarce in South American ecosystems however represent an important source of genomic data in order to interpret future climate-change environment scenarios of these emblematic forests. Here, we achieved the assemblage of the transcriptome of n. alpina while searching for key genes of activated or suppressed metabolic pathways in response to drought *** De novo transcriptome assembly resulted in 104,030 transcripts. Following confirmation of drought conditions, based on reduction of leaf water potential and stomatal conductance, a differential gene expression analysis resulted in 2720 significantly expressed genes(1601 up-regulated and 1119 down-regulated). Enrichment analysis(over-representation analysis and gene set enrichment analysis) resulted in more than one hundred stress-responsive term ontologies(i.e. biological processes) and pathways. Terms such as response to abscisic acid and pathways such as plant hormone signal transduction or starch and sucrose metabolism were over-represented. Protein–protein interaction assessment resulted in networks with significantly expressed top common hub gene clusters(e.g. planttype cell wall biogenesis among down-regulated or ABA-signalling among up-regulated). Patient Safety in the Use of Mechanical Restraints: Regulatory Compliance among Hospitals in the City of Buenos Aires and Proposal for Its Improvement

Introduction: Mechanical or physical restraint is an exceptional therapeutic resource to immobilize a subject and thus guarantee the safety of the patient and/or third parties in the face of high-risk behaviors, but it entails multiple crossings (bioethical, philosophical, medical, psychological, legal). Framed in the so-called “safety culture” developed by the WHO, based on the Protocol for its implementation of the CABA and attentive to its frequent use in CABA by different hospital services (medical clinic, geriatrics, intensive care and medical guards) we consider it necessary its study in terms of compliance with the risks it entails and its management. Objectives: Identify regulatory compliance with the GCABA Mechanical restraint (MR) Protocol from a patient safety perspective, as well as describe the clinical and medicolegal aspects, and propose the usefulness of a tool for its management and control. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, transversal and prospective work through the analysis of Clinical Records with indication of MR using a rubric-type form. 177 cases were analyzed between September-november 2023 from three hospitals of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires, statistical parameters were applied and graphs were made. Results: Only 12.99% complied with the Protocol. In the mental health specialized hospital compliance was almost 5 times greater than in the general one, and in the emergency services compliance was 12 times greater than in Inpatient services. We found that the start or end time of MR was not recorded and only 43% described the causes/justifications for the indication (mostly in Emergency and Specialized hospitals), with the MR average time being shorter in Emergency. Conclusions: Only 1.3 out of 10 patients reliably completed the Protocol and it was mostly in the mental health specialized hospital and the emergency services. The Global navigation Satellite Systems(GnSS),including the US’s GPS,China’s BDS,the European Union’s Galileo,and Russia’s GLOnASS,offer real-time,all-weather,any-time,anywhere and high precision observations by transmitting L band signals continuously,which have been widely used for positioning,navigation and *** the development of GnSS technology,it has been found that GnSS-reflected signals can be used to detect Earth’s surface characteristics together with other signals of *** this paper,the current status and latest advances are presented on Global navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry(GnSS-R)in theory,methods,techniques and *** developments and progresses in GnSS-R instruments,theoretical modeling,and signal processing,ground and space-/air-borne experiments,parameters retrieval(*** speed,sea surface height,soil moisture,ice thickness),sea surface altimetry and applications in the atmosphere,oceans,land,vegetation,and cryosphere are given and reviewed in ***,the challenges in the GnSS-R development of each field are also ***,the future applications and prospects of GnSS-R are discussed,including multi-GnSS reflectometry,new GnSS-R receivers,GnSS-R missions,and emerging applications,such as mesoscale ocean eddies,ocean phytoplankton blooms,microplastics detection,target recognition,river flow,desert studies,natural hazards and landslides monitoring.
