In Vivo Animal Model Evaluation of a Powerful Oral Nanomedicine for Treating Breast Cancer in BALB/c Mice Using 4T1 Cell Lines without Chemotherapy

Nanopharmaceuticals containing quantum dot nanoparticles (Q-Dot NPs) for treating serious cancers such as breast cancer have made fantastic proposals. In this study, ZnO quantum dot NPs are formulated via ZnO@PVP nanopolymer as co-assistants coordinating with efficacious suitable wetting agents, PEG-binding compound, and W/O emulsifier for producing eco-friendly water-based nanodrug. Several characterization techniques containing SEM, TEM, FTIR, photoluminescence, zeta potential, and UV-Vis absorption were employed for ZnO Q-Dot NPs in nanodrug. This work aims to investigate the anti-tumor effects of such nanomedicine on the 4T1 breast cancer cell line in BALB/c mice, being elaborated through intraperitoneal, injection (IVP) and oral therapy. The impressive findings showed that ZnO nanodrug caused changes in blood factors, having the most effectiveness at 40 μg/ml concentration after two weeks of oral treatments. The significant increase in white blood cells (WBC) neutrophils and meaningful decreases in lymphocytes and especially cholesterol were powerful simultaneous impacts, successfully treating malignant breast cancer masses. In this significant animal model research for breast cancer, the sick mice recovered entirely and even had a safe space to mate. Histopathological results showed no evidence of breast tumor formation or metastasis in the group treated with nanodrug and their children. This nanomedicine has a therapeutic effect, and is ready to be applied for treating volunteer breast cancer patients. However, its prevention (inhibitory) effect can also be analyzed and added to current data in future studies.

Cardiovascular risk burden and disability:findings from the International Mobility in Aging Study(IMIAS)

BACKGROUND The association of cardiovascular risk burden with disability is unclear.We examined the association between trajectories of the Framingham general cardiovascular disease risk score(FGCRS)with the trajectories of limitations of physical function in older adults.METHODS A total of 1219 participants with no disabilities from the International Mobility in Aging Study(IMIAS)study who had up to three repeated measures of FGCRS between 2012–2016 and without a history of stroke or coronary heart disease at baseline and follow-up were included.FGCRS at baseline was assessed and categorized into tertiles.Physical function was evaluated with the Short Physical Performance Battery(SPPB).The data were analyzed using linear mixed-effects models.RESULTS At baseline,FGCRS ranged between 3–94(mean score:24±15.8),participants were 32(2.6%),502(41.2%)and 685(56.2%)in lowest,middle,and highest tertiles,respectively.In the trajectories of limitations of physical function,the lowest FGCRS had no differences,while the middle and highest had a decrease in physical performance between 2012–2014(P=0.0001).Age,being female,living in Andes Mountains,having middle and highest FGCRS,higher alcohol consumption,being obese,lack of exercise and cognitive impairment increase the probability of disability(P<0.05).Alternatively,living in more developed regions and having a higher educational level reduced the probability of disability during the follow-up time(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS Higher cardiovascular risk burden is associated with decreased physical performance,especially in gait.Results suggest SPPB may provide a measure of cardiovascular health in older adults.

Numerical study of a multiple post-tensioned rocking wall-frame system for seismic resilient precast concrete buildings

A multiple rocking wall-frame(MRWF)system,in which the wall panels are directly connected to the adjacent beams and foundation is presented herein.In the MRWF system,the unbonded post-tensioned(PT)tendons are used to promote the self-centering ability,and O-shaped steel dampers are applied to enhance the energy dissipation capacity and reparability of the structure.First,analytical equations are proposed to determine the behavior of the O-shaped dampers.Then,the MRWF system is numerically evaluated for five different models consisting of rocking walls with varying numbers and arrangements while keeping the total effective width of wall panels constant.The numerical results show that with an increase in the number of wall panels and a decrease in the wall width,the hysteretic behavior of the MRWF system tends to the ideal flag-shaped pattern,resulting in little damage to the beams,insignificant strain in the wall toe,negligible residual drifts and damage index of less than 0.2 under severe earthquakes.In contrast,the conventional model demonstrates extensive damage to the structural elements due to undesirable wall-to-frame interaction,which leads to a damage index of 0.78 and residual drifts of 0.42%under seismic loads.

Phototriggered structures:Latest advances in biomedical applications

Non-invasive control of the drug molecules accessibility is a key issue in improving diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.Some studies have explored the spatiotemporal control by light as a peripheral stimulus.Phototriggered drug delivery systems(PTDDSs) have received interest in the past decade among biological researchers due to their capability the control drug release.To this end,a wide range of phototrigger molecular structures participated in the DDSs to serve additional efficiency and a high-conversion release of active fragments under light irradiation.Up to now,several categories of PTDDSs have been extended to upgrade the performance of controlled delivery of therapeutic agents based on well-known phototrigger molecular structures like o-nitrobenzyl,coumarinyl,anthracenyl,quinolinyl,o-hydroxycinnamate and hydroxyphenacyl,where either of one endows an exclusive feature and distinct mechanistic approach.This review conveys the design,photochemical properties and essential mechanism of the most important phototriggered structures for the release of single and dual(similar or different) active molecules that have the ability to quickly reason of the large variety of dynamic biological phenomena for biomedical applications like photo-regulated drug release,synergistic outcomes,real-time monitoring,and biocompatibility potential.

In this paper,we propose a definition for eigenvalues of odd-order tensors based on some operators.Also,we define the Schur form and the Jordan canonical form of such tensors,and discuss commuting families of tensors.Furthermore,we prove some eigenvalue ine-qualities for Hermitian tensors.Finally,we introduce characteristic polynomials of odd-order tensors.

Objectives:The purposes of this study were to produce novel formulations of Doeeneh using three probiotic strains and different inulin ratios and to investigate the survival of probiotics.Likewise,the effect of Doeeneh on the biological properties of non-diabetic and diabetic rats was also evaluated.Materials and Methods:Doeeneh,composed of milk and wheat bulgur,was enriched with different proportions of inulin and fermented by Bifidobacterium animalis subsp.lactis BB-12(B),Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5(A),Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus LGG(R),and their co-cultures.The physicochemical and sensory properties and probiotics viability were investigated for 14 d.Diabetes was induced in albino rats by administration of alloxan monohydrate(150 mg/kg i.p.).Changes in weight and blood glucose were measured weekly,and food and water consumption were measured daily;total cholesterol and triglycerides were measured after 35 d by a biochemical kit.Results:The increased proportion of high-degree of polymerization inulin decreased pH and increased acidity.However,a higher concentration of inulin applied to Doeeneh resulted in a slower decrease in pH value.This result can show the buffering effect of inulin in Doeeneh as well;changes in pH were slow over time due to the presence of the buffering compounds.Therefore,the probiotics’survival was in the standard range even in the inulin-free sample.Likewise,the Doeeneh sample containing 5%inulin(SABR3)considerably reduced the levels of blood glucose,total cholesterol,and triglyceride in diabetic rats.Moreover,the diabetic rats fed Doeeneh demonstrated less weight loss and food/water intake than the control.Conclusions:Traditional foods and their preparation methods are a suitable target for the development of health-oriented products,and functional food with nutraceutical capabilities can be designed and produced based on them.

Scattering by an array of parallel metallic carbon nanotubes

The scattering of electromagnetic wave by an array of parallel metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes is investigated based on the boundary-value method. Electronic excitations over each nanotube surface are modeled as an infinitesimally thin cylindrical layer of the free-electron gas. The scattering cross section of both transverse magnetic （TM） and transverse electric （TE） uniform plane waves by the system at normal incidences is obtained.

Effect of copper slag recovery on hydrometallurgical cut-off grades considering environmental aspects

Determining the hydrometallurgical cut-off grades specifies the destination of low grade materials and this is subjected to more benefits in mining. Copper production rate is considered as one of the fundamental issues in hydrometallurgical cut-off grades determination. Slags are remarked as one of the main sources of copper. It is not only regarded as a waste but also identified as another resource extracting base metals. Slags are characterized by copper high grade. Thus, slag copper recovery can be led to different cut-off grades and net present value(NPV). The current research scrutinizes the effect of slag recovery by both flotation and hydrometallurgical methods on the hydrometallurgical cut-off grades. For this purpose, the optimum cut-off grade algorithms of hydrometallurgical methods are developed by considering associated environmental parameters, incomes and also the costs. Then, their optimum amounts are calculated with NPV maximization as an objective function. The results indicate that considering slag copper recovery in the hydrometallurgical cut-off grade algorithms reduces the environmental costs caused by slag dumping and leads to more NPV by 9%.

What to do when it is breech? A state-of-the-art review on management of breech presentation

Any non-cephalic presentation in a fetus is regarded as malpresentation.The most common malpresentation,breech,contributes to 3%-5%of term pregnancies and is a leading indication for cesarean delivery.Identification of risk factors and a proper physical examination are beneficial;however,ultrasound is the gold standard for the diagnosis of malpresentations.External cephalic version(ECV)refers to a procedure aimed to convert a non-cephalic presenting fetus to cephalic presentation.This procedure is performed manually through the mother’s abdomen by a trained health care provider,to reduce the likelihood of a cesarean section.Studies have reported a version success rate of above 50%by ECV.The main objective of this review is to present a broad perspective on fetal malpresentation,ECV,and delivery of a breech fetus.The focus is to elaborate all clinical scenarios of breech and to provide an evidence-based clinical approach for them.After discussing breech prevalence,risk factors,diagnosis,and management,an updated review of ECV is presented.Moreover,ECV indications/contraindications,alternatives,clinical techniques on how to perform ECV and breech vaginal delivery,and obstetrical considerations for the delivery of malpresentations are thoroughly discussed.

1.Introduction Pregnancy in adolescents is a significant public health challenge.The adolescent birth rate has fallen due to improvements in public health.However,teenage pregnancy is still a major issue in many parts of the world,both developed and developing countries.Pregnancy in adoles-cence has broad health,economic and social consequences.Nevertheless,different communities vary in terms of both predictors and outcomes of teenage pregnancy.However,in general,those communities with lower levels of education or unsustainable economic status tend to have higher rates of teenage pregnancy.
