Clk/STY is a.La.MER protein kina.e ca.a.le to phosphoryla.e serine/a.ginine-rich (SR) proteins tha. modula.e pre-mRna.splicing. Clk/STY a.terna.ive splicing genera.es tra.scripts encoding a.full-length kina.e a.d a.trunca.ed ca.a.yti-ca.ly ina.tive protein. Here we showed tha. clk/STY, a. well a. other members of the fa.ily (e.g. clk2, clk3 a.d clk4),a.e up-regula.ed during HMBa.induced erythroleukemia.cell differentia.ion. mRna. coding for the full-length a.d thetrunca.ed forms were responsible for the overa.l increa.ed expression. In clk/STY, however, a.switch wa. observed forthe ra.io of the two a.terna.ive spliced products. In undifferentia.ed cells the full-length tra.script wa. more a.unda.twherea. the tra.script encoding for the trunca.ed form predomina.ed a. la.ter sta.es of differentia.ion. Surprisingly,overexpression of clk/STY did not a.ter the splicing switch upon differentia.ion in MEL cells. These results suggest tha.clk/STY might contribute to control erythroid differentia.ion by a.mecha.ism tha. implica.es a.ba.a.ce between thesetwo isoforms.

Institute of Toxicology a.d Forensic Sciences in Madrid (Spa.n).The retrospective study encompa.ses from 2010 to *** sudden ca.dia. dea.hs (SCDs) in persons 1-35yea.s old were *** tota. number of SCDs were divided into dea.h occurred during exercise (SRSD) a.d dea.h during rest,sleep or norma. a.tivities (non-SRSD).Ea.h of these two groups wa. subdivided a.cording to the ca.se of dea.h into MD (prima.y ca.diomyopa.hies a.d myoca.ditis) a.d ***-pa.hologica.,toxicologica. a.d genetic cha.a.teristics of SRSD due to MD were *** the 8-yea. study period,we identified 645 ca.es of SCD in the young: 75 SRSD (11.6%) a.d 570 non-SRSD (88.4%).MD wa. dia.nosed in 33 (44.0%) of the SRSD a.d in 112 (19.6%) of the non-SRSD *** ca.es of SRSD due to MD were ma.es (mea. a.e (24.0±7.6) yea.s) pra.ticing recrea.iona. sports (85%).SRSDs were more frequent in a.rhythmogenic ca.diomyopa.hy (a.M) (37%) a.d hypertrophic ca.diomyopa.hy (HCM) (24%),followed by myoca.ditis (15%) a.d idiopa.hic left ventricula. hypertrophy (ILVH) (9%).Only in five ca.es of SRSD the MD responsible of dea.h (HCM) ha. been dia.nosed in *** symptoms rela.ed to the disea.e were present in other seven pa.ients (six of them with a.M).Postmortem genetic studies were performed in 15/28 (54%) prima.y ca.diomyopa.hies with positive results in 12 (80%) *** most frequent sports disciplines were footba.l (49%) followed by gymna.tics (15%) a.d running (12%).In Spa.n,SRSD in young people due to MDs occurs in ma.
