Among neurodegenerative diseases,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is the most frequent one involving motor neurons(MNs).ALS incidence varies throughout the world ranging from 0.7 to 4 cases per 100,000 habitants and year(riancho et al.,2016).This disease,which currently lacks an effective therapy,is characterized by a variable combination of upper and lower MN degeneration,leading to progressive muscle wasting which usually results in a terminal respiratory failure within 3 years after symptom onset(Zufiria et al.,2016).A small proportion of ALS cases show familial *** are related to mutations in specific causative genes(Cr9OrF72,TArDBP,FUS,SOD1 and others)which directly determine disease onset in *** contrast,more than 90 percent of cases are considered to be sporadic,in which generally unknown environmental and internal factors interact with genetic predisposing factors finally leading to disease(riancho et al.,2018).From a histopathological point of view,ALS is characterized by MN damage and *** from ALS sporadic and most of familial patients exhibit prominent transactive response DNA-binding protein 43(TDP-43)cytoplasmic aggregates which are considered as the“pathological hallmark”of the disease,excepting those related to SOD1 and FUS mutations(Zufiria et al.,2016).TDP-43 is a DNA/rNA binding protein encoded by the TArDBP gene that controls the expression of many different genes.

Postcopulatory sexual selection through sperm competition may be an important evolutionary force affecting many reproductive traits, including sperm morphometrics. Environmental factors such as pollutants, pesticides, and climate change may affect different sperm traits, and thus reproduction, in sensitive bird species. Many sperm-handling processes used in assisted reproductive techniques may also affect the size of sperm cells. The accurately measured dimensions of sperm cell structures （especially the head） can thus be used as indicators of environmental influences, in improving our understanding of reproductive and evolutionary strategies, and for optimizing assisted reproductive techniques （e.g., sperm cryopreservation） for use with birds. Computer-assisted sperm morphometry analysis （CASA-Morph） provides an accurate and reliable method for assessing sperm morphometry, reducing the problem of subjectivity associated with human visual assessment. Computerized systems have been standardized for use with semen from different mammalian species. Avian spermatozoa, however, are filiform, limiting their analysis with such systems, which were developed to examine the approximately spherical heads of mammalian sperm cells. To help overcome this, the standardization of staining techniques to be used in compute^-assessed light microscopical methods is a priority. The present review discusses these points and describes the sperm morphometric characteristics of several wild and domestic bird species.

Numerical stability when integrating plane waves of cubic SchrSdinger equation is thor- oughly analysed for some explicit exponential methods. We center on the following second- order methods： Strang splitting and Lawson method based on a one-parameter family of 2-stage 2nd-order explicit runge-Kutta methods. regions of stability are plotted and numerical results are shown which corroborate the theoretical results. Besides, a tech- nique is suggested to avoid the possible numerical instabilities which do not correspond to continuous ones.

This work presents a novel approach to the dynamic response analysis of a Euler-Bernoulli beam resting on a Winkler soil model and subjected to an impact *** approach considers that damping has much less importance in controlling the maximum response to impulsive loadings because the maximum response is reached in a very short time,before the damping forces can dissipate a significant portion of the energy input into the *** development of two sine series solutions,relating to different types of impulsive loadings,one involving a single concentrated force and the other a distributed line load,are *** study revealed that when a simply supported Euler-Bernoulli beam,resting on a Winkler soil model,is subject to an impact load,the resulting vertical displacements,bending moments and shear forces produced along the span of the beam are considerably *** particular,the quantification of this effect is best observed,relative to the corresponding static solution,via an amplification *** computed impact amplification factors,for the sub-grade moduli used in this study,were in magnitude greater than 2,thus confirming the multiple-degree-of-freedom nature of the problem.
