Efficient computation of Hash Hirschberg protein alignment utilizing hyper threading multi-core sharing technology

Due to current technology enhancement,molecular databases have exponentially grown requesting faster efficient methods that can handle these amounts of huge ***-fore,Multi-processing CPUs technology can be used including physical and logical processors(Hyper Threading)to significantly increase the performance of ***,sequence comparison and pairwise alignment were both found contributing significantly in calculating the resemblance between sequences for constructing optimal *** research used the Hash Table-NGram-Hirschberg(HT-NGH)algo-rithm to represent this pairwise alignment utilizing hashing *** authors propose using parallel shared memory architecture via Hyper Threading to improve the performance of molecular dataset protein pairwise *** proposed parallel hyper threading method targeted the transformation of the HT-NGH on the datasets decomposition for sequence level efficient utilization within the processing units,that is,reducing idle processing unit *** authors combined hyper threading within the multicore architecture processing on shared memory utilization remarking perfor-mance of 24.8%average speed up to 34.4%as the highest boosting *** benefit of this work improvement is shown preserving acceptable accuracy,that is,reaching 2.08,2.88,and 3.87 boost-up as well as the efficiency of 1.04,0.96,and 0.97,using 2,3,and 4 cores,respectively,as attractive remarkable results.

Double-Frequency Microseisms on the Thick Unconsolidated Sediments in Eastern and Southeastern Coasts of United States: Sources and Applications on Seismic Site Effect Evaluation

This study presents a systematic analysis of double-frequency(DF) microseisms recorded on the unconsolidated sediments in the eastern and southeastern coasts of United States. For all recordings, the site effect parameters(predominant frequency(f_(0)), amplification factor and unconsolidated sediment thickness(UST)) are obtained by Nakamura method and the DF spectra are classified into five groups in terms of the DF peak patterns and the recording locations relative to the coastline. The frequencies and energy levels of the DF peaks in horizontal direction and the amplification factors are associated with the UST which is resulted from seismic site effect. By polarization analysis, the primary vibration directions of the DF peaks are identified and presented as great circles passing through the recording stations intersecting mainly along the continental slope. Correlation analyses of time histories of the DF energy and the ocean wave climate observed at buoys show that the low(0.2 Hz) frequency DF microseisms are generated in the deep ocean and the continental shelf respectively. It is concluded that the continental slope plays a significant role in the generation of DF microseisms as it causes reflection of waves from the open ocean, initiating standing waves.

Characterization of Drought and Its Assessment over Sindh,Pakistan During 1951-2010

Drought is one of the complex meteorological disasters affecting water resources, agriculture, livestock, and socioeconomic patterns of a region. Although drought prediction is difficult, it can be monitored based on climatological information. In this study, we provide high spatiotemporal resolution drought climatology, using observational, gridded precipitation data （0.5°×0.5°） from the Global Precipitation Climatological Center and soil moisture data from the Climate Prediction Center for the 60-yr period 1951-2010. The standardized precipitation index （SPI） based on a fitted Gamma distribution and Run method has been calculated from the regional drought identification model （ReDIM） for 3, 6, 9, 12, and 24 months. The results show strong temporal correlations among anomalies of precipitation, soil moisture, and SPI. Analysis of long-term precipitation data reveals that the drought vulnerability concentrates on monsoon season （July- September）, which contributes 72.4% and 82.1% of the annual precipitation in northern and southern Sindh, respectively. Annual and seasonal analyses show no significant changes in the observed precipitation. The category classification criteria are defined to monitor/forecast drought in the selected area. Further analysis identifies two longest episodes of drought, i.e., 1972 1974 and 2000 2002, while 1969, 1974, 1987, and 2002 are found to be the most severe historical drought years. A drought hazard map of Sindh was developed, in which 10 districts are recognized as highly vulnerable to drought. This study helps to explain the time, duration, intensity, and frequency of meteorological droughts over Sindh as well as its neighboring regions, and provides useful information to disaster management agencies and forecasters for assessing both the regional vulnerabilitv of drought and its seasonal predictability in Pakistan.

Does Globalization, Tourism, Foreign Direct Investment, and Natural Resources Influencing Ecological Footprint?

The environmental problem has become a worldwide issue that must be frequently ***, this study investigates the relation of tourism, natural resources, globalization, and foreign direct investment on the ecological footprint of the USA, the UK, Pakistan, China, and India by using annual data from 1995 to 2020. The study applied Zivot and Andrews(1992) test to demonstrate the stationarity properties of the series, and an autoregressive distributed lag(ARDL)approach was employed to estimate the long-run and short-run dynamics. The long-run findings disclose that tourism has a significantly positive effect on China and Pakistan, but a significantly negative impact on India. The outcomes further suggest that foreign direct investment increases environmental degradation in India and China in both long and short periods, but contributes to improving the UK's ecosystem. Besides, globalization in China tends to save its *** resources in the long run also harm the ecosystems of Pakistan, China, and the USA. The error correction term is negatively significant for all countries. The reliability of the model is investigated through diagnostic tests. The selected model is stable as the critical value of CUSUM and CUSUMSQ lie within the 5% significance level.

High-Throughput Free Surface Electrospinning Using Solution Reservoirs with Different Depths and Its Preparation Mechanism Study

For obtaining high-throughput production of nanofibers,the preparation mechanism of a self-made spherical section free surface electrospinning(SSFSE)using solution reservoirs with different depths was *** effects of the solution res-ervoir depth on the SSFSE process as well as the quality and yield of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)nanofibers were investigated experimentally using high-speed camera,precise electronic balance and scanning electron ***,the results were analyzed theoretically by response surface methodology(RSM)and numerical *** values predicted by the established RSM model and the electric field results obtained by Maxwell 3D were all consistent with the experimental data,which showed that the different depths of the solution reservoir had little effect on the quality of PAN nanofibers,but had great effects on the yields of *** PAN nanofibers prepared have the best quality and the highest yields when the maximum depth of the solution reservoir was 4.29 mm.

A good wound dressing needs to promote wound healing and tissue repair when the skin is *** this study,a self-made spherical section free surface electrospinning device was used to produce large quantities of electrospun porous polylactic acid(PLA)/chitosan(CS)/aloin nanofiber membranes(NFMs)for antibacterial wound *** porous structures of PLAbased nanofibers were controlled by adjusting the weight ratios of mixed solvent and *** results showed that highquality porous PLA/CS/aloin(PCA)NFMs were obtained when the weight ratios of chloroform/N,N-dimethylformamide and PLA:CS were 90/10 and 7:1,*** porous PCA NFMs exhibited high porosity,acceptable mechanical properties,moderate hydrophobicity,good swelling property,and high water vapor transmission ***,they also showed excellent blood coagulative,antibacterial,biocompatible properties,which had the potential to be used in the application of antibacterial wound dressings.

Hybrid Trainable System for Writer Identification of Arabic Handwriting

Writer identification(WI)based on handwritten text structures is typically focused on digital characteristics,with letters/strokes representing the information acquired from the current research in the integration of individual writing habits/*** studies have indicated that a word’s attributes contribute to greater recognition than the attributes of a character or *** a result of the complexity of Arabic handwriting,segmenting and separating letters and strokes from a script poses a challenge in addition to WI *** this work,we propose new texture features for WI based on *** histogram of oriented gradient(HOG)features are modified to extract good features on the basis of the histogram of the orientation for different angles of *** fusion of these features with the features of convolutional neural networks(CNNs)results in a good vector of powerful ***,we reduce the features by selecting the best ones using a genetic *** normalization method is used to normalize the features and feed them to an artificial neural network *** results show that the proposed augmenter enhances the results for HOG features and ResNet50,as well as the proposed model,because the amount of data is *** a large data volume helps the system to retrieve extensive information about the nature of writing *** affective result of the proposed model for whole paragraphs,lines,and sub words is obtained using different models and then compared with those of the CNN and *** whole paragraphs produce the best results in all models because they contain rich information and the model can utilize numerous features for different *** HOG and CNN features achieve 94.2%accuracy for whole paragraphs with augmentation,83.2%of accuracy for lines,and 78%accuracy for sub ***,this work provides a system that can identify writers on the basis of their handwriting and builds a powerful model that can help

Vitamin D Deficiency and Its Relationship with Child-Pugh Class in Patients with Chronic Liver Disease

Background and Aims:Skeletal manifestation in liver dis-eases represents the minimally scrutinized part of the disease *** D deficiency has a central role in developing hepatic osteodystrophy in patients with chronic liver *** study aimed to investigate vitamin D levels and their relationship with disease advancement in these ***:Vitamin D levels were checked in 125 chronic liver disease *** patients were classified in three stages according to Child-Pugh score:A,B and *** relationship of vitamin D levels with Child-Pugh score and other variables in the study was assessed by the contingency *** and logistic regression analyses were also carried out to find additional predictors of low vitamin D ***:Among the patients,88%had either insufficient or deficient stores of vitamin D,while only 12%had sufficient vitamin D levels(p>0.05).Vitamin D levels were notably related to Child-Pugh class(contingency coefficient=0.5,p<0.05).On univariate and multinomial regression analyses,age,female sex,MELD and Child-Pugh class were predictors of low vitamin D ***,model of end-stage liver disease score and Child-Pugh score were negatively correlated to vitamin D levels(p<0.05).Conclusions:Vitamin D deficiency is notably re-lated to age,female sex and model of end-stage liver disease score,in addition to Child-Pugh class of liver ***-min D levels should be routinely checked in patients with ad-vanced liver cirrhosis(Child-Pugh class B and C)and this deficiency must be addressed in a timely manner to improve general well-being of cirrhotic patients.

Comparative characterisation of conventional and textured 11􀯓kV insulators using the rotating wheel dip test

Surface tracking and erosion is an irreversible degradation occurring on the insulator surface, and this can ultimately lead to failure of the insulator. Polymeric materials such as silicone rubber have many advantages;including a superior hydrophobic surface. However, polymers are exposed to ageing and degradation resulting from electrical and environmental stresses. The rotating wheel dip test is adopted to conduct a comparative study of surface conduction on the two insulators. A conventional design has been selected and compared with insulators having textured surface. Monitoring of the shed surface and insulator trunk using an IR camera were carried out to assess the temperature distribution along insulator profiles. A spatial analysis was also performed to identify key features of the two designs. Localised surface conductance measurements are proposed in this study. This helps to understand and distinguish the trends of conductance and its distribution on each surface, helping to predict the future surface degradation associated to each design。
