Numerical investigation for the suitable choice of bubble diameter correlation for EMMS/bubbling drag model

Mesoscale bubbles exist inherently in bubbling fluidized beds and hence should be considered in the constitutive modeling of the drag *** energy minimization multiscale bubbling(EMMS/bubbling)drag model takes the effects of mesoscale structures(i.e.,bubbles)into the modeling of drag coefficient and thus improves the coarse-grid simulation of bubbling and turbulent fluidized ***,its dependence on the bubble diameter correlation has not been thoroughly *** hydrodynamic disparity between homogeneous and heterogeneous fluidization is accounted for by the heterogeneity index,H_(d),which can be affected by choice of bubble diameter *** this choice of bubble diameter correlation influences the model prediction calls for further fundamental *** article incorporated seven different bubble diameter correlations into EMMS/bubbling drag model and studied their effects on H_(d).The performance of these correlations has been compared with the correlation used previously by EMMS/bubbling drag *** found that some of the correlations predicted lower Hd by order of a magnitude than the correlation used by the original EMMS/bubbling *** on such analysis,we proposed a modification in the EMMS drag model for bubbling and turbulent fluidized beds.A computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation using two-fluid model with the modified EMMS/bubbling drag model was performed for two bubbling and one turbulent fluidized *** distribution,time averaged solid concentration and axial solid concentration profiles were studied and compared with the previous version of the EMMS/bubbling drag model and experimental *** found that the right choice of bubble diameter correlations can significantly improve the results for CFD simulations.

Choanal atresia (CA) is a rare occlusion of the posterior choanae. Unilateral cases have been reported more than bilaterally, and it’s more often right-sided in those patients. According to the literature, mixed bony-membranous atresia is the most common type. There is a high incidence of craniofacial and visceral anomalies associated with congenital choanal atresia. Therefore, investigation for associated congenital anomalies is an important step before the surgery. We report 2 cases of incidental finding of unilateral choanal atresia in a 21- and 17-year-old with nasal discharge being the only complaint in the former and nasal obstruction with headache in the latter. The patients were then scheduled for day-surgery as a case of choanal atresia for transnasal, endoscopic repair and posterior septectomy. The patients were discharged home on the same day with the absence of restenosis or other complications.

Effect of graphene addition on the physicomechanical and tribological properties of Cu nanocomposites

This paper presents an experimental investigation of the mechanical and tribological properties of Cu-graphene nanosheets(GN)*** employed the electroless coating process to coat GNs with Ag particles to avoid its reaction with Cu and the formation of intermetallic *** analyzed the effect of GN content on the structural,mechanical,and tribological properties of the produced *** showed that the electroless coating process is an efficient technique to avoid the reaction between Cu and C and the formation of intermetallic *** addition of GNs significantly improves the mechanical and tribological properties of Cu ***,the addition of GNs needs to be done carefully because,after a certain threshold value,the mechanical and tribological properties are negatively *** optimum GN content is determined to be 0.5vol%,at which hardness,wear rate,and coefficient of friction are im-proved by 13%,81.9%,and 49.8%,respectively,compared with Cu *** improved properties are due to the reduced crys-tallite size,presence of GNs,and homogenous distribution of the composite constituents.

Design of a new static solar concentrator with a high concentration ratio and a large acceptance angle based on bifacial solar cells

Solar concentrators are used in solar photovoltaic systems to lower the cost of producing *** this situation,fewer solar cells can be used,lowering the overall cost of the *** purpose of this article is to design,construct,install and test a stationary(non-tracking)concentrating system in Irbid,*** solar cells are used in the *** concentrator designs(with the same concentration ratio)are experimentally ***-A has a parabolic shape in the lower part but flat reflecting walls,whereas Conc-B has a standard compound parabolic shape in all *** receiving solar cells are arranged in three distinct positions in each *** results reveal that the output power from both concentrators is affected by the placement of the receiving solar cells within the *** has also been found that concentrators with flat reflecting walls perform better than those with parabolic reflecting ***-A’s power collection is~198%greater than that of a non-concentrating *** Conc-B is used,the increase in power is~181%.

Multiclass Classification for Cyber Threats Detection on Twitter

The advances in technology increase the number of internet systems *** a result,cybersecurity issues have become more *** threats are one of the main problems in the area of ***,detecting cybersecurity threats is not a trivial task and thus is the center of focus for many researchers due to its *** study aims to analyze Twitter data to detect cyber threats using a multiclass classification *** data is passed through different tasks to prepare it for the *** Frequency and Inverse Document Frequency(TFIDF)features are extracted to vectorize the cleaned data and several machine learning algorithms are used to classify the Twitter posts into multiple classes of cyber *** results are evaluated using different metrics including precision,recall,F-score,and *** work contributes to the cyber security research *** experiments revealed the promised results of the analysis using the Random Forest(RF)algorithm with(F-score=81%).This result outperformed the existing studies in the field of cyber threat detection and showed the importance of detecting cyber threats in social media *** is a need for more investigation in the field of multiclass classification to achieve more accurate *** the future,this study suggests applying different data representations for the feature extraction other than TF-IDF such as Word2Vec,and adding a new phase for feature selection to select the optimum features subset to achieve higher accuracy of the detection process.

Improving data hiding within colour images using hue component of HSV colour space

Data hiding technologies aim to hide the existence of secret information within digital covers such as images by causing unnoticeable degradation to their *** the image distortion and increasing the embedding capacity are the main points that the data hiding techniques revolved *** article proposes two high payload embedding methods with high stego image quality using the Hue-Saturation-Value(HSV)colour *** first method is hue-based embedding(HBE)that employs the H plane for hiding one or two bits in non-grey *** second method uses the three HSV components,so it is called three-planes embedding(TPE).In TPE,one bit is hidden in the least significant bit(LSB)of V of the grey pixels,one or two bits in H of the pixels having low saturation or low brightness and one bit in the LSB of S *** experiments were conducted on 25 images and the results show that HBE hides more data on average than TPE with its quality reaching 60 *** achieves quality up to 61 dB and capacity reaches 364 *** scores the highest capacity among six state-of-the-art techniques in Red-Green-Blue,HSV,Hue-Saturation-Intensity and YCbCr spaces with the highest average peak signal to noise ratio midst five of *** embedding 60,90,and 120 Kb,this TPE attains the best average quality amid all the methods.

In this paper,we study a mathematical model of Hepatitis C Virus(HCV)*** present a compartmental mathematical model involving healthy hepatocytes,infected hepatocytes,non-activated dendritic cells,activated dendritic cells and cytotoxic T *** derivative used is of non-local fractional order and with non-singular *** existence and uniqueness of the system is proven and its stability is ***,by applying the Laplace Adomian decomposition method for the fractional derivative,we present the semi-analytical solution of the ***,some numerical simulations are performed for concrete values of the parameters and several graphs are plotted to reveal the qualitative properties of the solutions.

Efficient computation of Hash Hirschberg protein alignment utilizing hyper threading multi-core sharing technology

Due to current technology enhancement,molecular databases have exponentially grown requesting faster efficient methods that can handle these amounts of huge ***-fore,Multi-processing CPUs technology can be used including physical and logical processors(Hyper Threading)to significantly increase the performance of ***,sequence comparison and pairwise alignment were both found contributing significantly in calculating the resemblance between sequences for constructing optimal *** research used the Hash Table-NGram-Hirschberg(HT-NGH)algo-rithm to represent this pairwise alignment utilizing hashing *** authors propose using parallel shared memory architecture via Hyper Threading to improve the performance of molecular dataset protein pairwise *** proposed parallel hyper threading method targeted the transformation of the HT-NGH on the datasets decomposition for sequence level efficient utilization within the processing units,that is,reducing idle processing unit *** authors combined hyper threading within the multicore architecture processing on shared memory utilization remarking perfor-mance of 24.8%average speed up to 34.4%as the highest boosting *** benefit of this work improvement is shown preserving acceptable accuracy,that is,reaching 2.08,2.88,and 3.87 boost-up as well as the efficiency of 1.04,0.96,and 0.97,using 2,3,and 4 cores,respectively,as attractive remarkable results.

Does Globalization, Tourism, Foreign Direct Investment, and Natural Resources Influencing Ecological Footprint?

The environmental problem has become a worldwide issue that must be frequently ***, this study investigates the relation of tourism, natural resources, globalization, and foreign direct investment on the ecological footprint of the USA, the UK, Pakistan, China, and India by using annual data from 1995 to 2020. The study applied Zivot and Andrews(1992) test to demonstrate the stationarity properties of the series, and an autoregressive distributed lag(ARDL)approach was employed to estimate the long-run and short-run dynamics. The long-run findings disclose that tourism has a significantly positive effect on China and Pakistan, but a significantly negative impact on India. The outcomes further suggest that foreign direct investment increases environmental degradation in India and China in both long and short periods, but contributes to improving the UK's ecosystem. Besides, globalization in China tends to save its *** resources in the long run also harm the ecosystems of Pakistan, China, and the USA. The error correction term is negatively significant for all countries. The reliability of the model is investigated through diagnostic tests. The selected model is stable as the critical value of CUSUM and CUSUMSQ lie within the 5% significance level.

Batch Preparation and Characterization of Electrospun Porous Polylactic Acid‑Based Nanofiber Membranes for Antibacterial Wound Dressing

A good wound dressing needs to promote wound healing and tissue repair when the skin is *** this study,a self-made spherical section free surface electrospinning device was used to produce large quantities of electrospun porous polylactic acid(PLA)/chitosan(CS)/aloin nanofiber membranes(NFMs)for antibacterial wound *** porous structures of PLAbased nanofibers were controlled by adjusting the weight ratios of mixed solvent and *** results showed that highquality porous PLA/CS/aloin(PCA)NFMs were obtained when the weight ratios of chloroform/N,N-dimethylformamide and PLA:CS were 90/10 and 7:1,*** porous PCA NFMs exhibited high porosity,acceptable mechanical properties,moderate hydrophobicity,good swelling property,and high water vapor transmission ***,they also showed excellent blood coagulative,antibacterial,biocompatible properties,which had the potential to be used in the application of antibacterial wound dressings.
