Mineralization and Availability of Azolla and Cyanobacteria Biomass Nutrients in Rice Soil

Two sets of experiments were conducted to study the chemical composition, mineralization and availability of nutrients （particularly N） of Azolla biomass and cyanohacteria blooms in submerged rice soil. One set of experiment was conducted with Azolla without soil and the other with both Azolla and cyaobacteria with soil, in laboratory condition. Large samples were collected from the rice fields. The study shows that Azolla and cyanobacterial biomass contain good amounts of C, N, P and Ca. The chemical analysis of oxidizable C, total N, P and Ca showed that Azolla biomass contain 20.7% oxidizable C, which is higher than the cyanobacterial biomass （9.18%）. The N content in Azolla biomass was found to be 4.32%, than that of cyanobacterial biomass, i.e., 2.57%, however, P and Ca contents were also found to be higher in Azolla averaging to 124.83 ppm and 345.3 mg/100 g, respectively than cyanobacteria. The leachate analysis revealed that Azolla biomass release about 39.18% to 64.48% oxidizable C and about 19.23% to 33% N after 45 days of incorporation of soil dilution. Incorporation of Azolla and cyanobacterial biomass N@ 100 kg/ha significantly improved the oxidizable organic C, total as well as available N content in soil up to 75 days of incubation. Due to the incorporation of Azolla in soil, oxidizable organic C increased 25.51%, total N 4.10% and available N 47.65%. Almost similar trend of increase was also observed with the incorporation of cyanobacterial blooms.

Nurses’ Experiences in Service Provision a COVID-19 Dedicated Tertiary Public Hospital

Objectives: To assess the nurses’ experiences in service provision a COVID-19 dedicated tertiary public hospital. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in one tertiary level public hospital namely Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Dhaka, Bangladesh from January to December 2021. Data were collected through face-to-face interview using a structured questionnaire containing demographic details and experiences faced by the nurses in service provision during COVID-19. Data was analysed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) software version 23. Results: The findings revealed that the mean age of the respondents was 32.35 ± 7.248 years, the minimum age was 23 years and maximum age was 58 years. About half of the respondents 52.1% were in 21 - 30 years. The majorities 89% were female. More than half of the respondents 72.6% were Muslim and 63.83% of respondents have completed Diploma in nursing. About 32.2% respondents were living with senior citizen, 33% respondents were infected by COVID-19, 24.23% respondent mentioned nurse-Patient ratio in general ward was 1:7 and 71.08% mentioned nurse-patient ratio in I.C.U/C.C.U. was 1:3 (December 2021). PPE were available among 88.0% respondents and N95 mask were available among 84.0% respondent. About 34.8% respondents got COVID-19 guideline training and 32.4% got donning and doffing training. More than half of the respondents 76% stated that equipment is adequate, 56.38% respondents mention that insufficient of nurses and 53.7% were mentioned insufficient of subordinate staff. About 22.6% respondents faced social stigma and majorities 96.5% respondents mentioned they got proper family support. Cardiovascular Function during First 24 Hours after Off-Pump and On-Pump CABG—A Prospective Observational Comparative Study

Purpose: Myocardial revascularization by coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in ischemic heart disease patients has direct impact on hemodynamic parameters in the immediate post-operative period. The peri-operative cardiovascular functioning is an important determinant for outcome of surgery. In On-Pump CABG (ONCAB), the cardiopulmonary bypass has a negative effect on myocardium. Off-Pump CABG (OPCAB) avoids the effect of CPB but complete revascularization with difficult positioning of heart is technically demanding. This study is aimed to compare the cardiovascular functioning in the immediate post-operative period after OPCAB and ONCAB. Methods: Total 106 patients were operated for CABG from January 2015 to June 2016, of which 75 patients were operated for OPCAB and 31 patients were operated for ONCAB. For the comparison, hemodynamic parameters were measured during anesthesia before surgery, postoperatively after 1 and 4 hours (h) in the ICU, and in the morning after surgery, approximately after 20 h. Results: The time-dependent rise of hemodynamic parameters like Cardiac Output (CO), Cardiac Index (CI), Stroke volume (SV) and Left Ventricular Stroke Work Index (LVSWI) in the immediate post-operative hours (1 h and 4 h) are more predominant in OPCAB group than ONCAB group although the difference is eliminated mostly at 20 h. The better peripheral vasodilation after OPCAB causes immediate fall of Systemic Vascular Resistance Index (SVRI) after OPCAB. Conclusion: Better cardiovascular functioning immediately after OPCAB than ONCAB may be important for better hemodynamic stability. The difference is however eliminated after 24 hours indicating little significance in long term outcome.

Background: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is an important modality of treatment for ischemic heart disease. Both off-pump and on-pump CABG have direct effect on the level cardiac biomarkers in the perioperative period. The use of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) and aortic cross-clamping may cause additive myocardial damage leading to further elevation of blood markers. The present study is aimed at measuring and comparing the cardiac biomarker levels in immediate post-operative period after on-pump CABG (ONCAB) and off-pump CABG (OPCAB). Methods: All the patients who underwent CABG from January 2015 to June 2016 on elective or emergency basis at Nilratan Sircar Medical College & Hospital have been included in the study. Total 106 patients were operated for CABG of which 75 patients were operated for OPCAB and 31 patients were operated for ONCAB. A rational preparation strategy of phase tuned MoO_(3) nanostructures for high-performance all-solid asymmetric supercapacitor

In this work,phase and morphology-tuned MoO_(3) nanostructures are synthesized through a novel modified co-precipitation method,and their electrochemical properties are *** the first time,such a simple surfactant-assisted synthesis process aided by minor temperature variations is reported which results in phase transition of the nanoparticles from h-MoO_(3) nano-rods to a-MoO_(3) *** nanostructures thus developed are highly porous and crystalline with significantly large specific surface area as compared to previous *** theoretical bandgap energy of the optimized sample calculated using Perdew-Zunger local density approximation(LDA) is in good agreement with the experimental *** overall structural,morphological,and surface-behavioural analysis predicts the electrochemical superiority in 2D a-MoO_(3).The cyclic voltammetry and galvano-potentiometry measurements of 2D a-MoO_(3) in the potential window of-0.6 V to +0.2 V present the highest pseudosupercapacitive response with a maximum specific capacitance of 829 F g^(-1)at 2 A g^(-1)as compared to h-MoO_(3) (452 F g^(-1)) and h@a-MoO_(3) (783 F g^(-1)).Thus,the MoO_(3) 2D nanostructures synthesized through our novel synthesis technique display excellent specific capacitance as compared to previous reported ***,a-MoO_(3) exhibits a galvanostatic charging-discharging cyclic stability of about 91%after 2000 cycles,indicating that it can serve as an excellent electrode material for supercapacitors.A solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor device is successfully constructed using a-MoO_(3) which can light up 4 red LEDs for 10 *** specific energy density of the device reaches a maximum value of 36.3 W h kg^(-1)at the power density of 50 W kg^(-1).

Correlation of Serum Uric Acid with Disease Activity and C-Reactive Protein in Patients Suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis is characterized by increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality that cannot be fully explained by the presence of classical cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors suggesting that novel risk factors may play a role. Evidence accumulated over the past decade points that uric acid (UA) may be one such novel CVD risk factor in rheumatoid arthritis, and therefore one may hypothesize that UA may contribute to the increased CVD burden in RA. The current study attempted to correlate the levels of clinical disease activity index (CDAI), high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) and uric acid in DMARD naive non-diabetic, non-hypertensive, euthyroid patients with normal lipid profile suffering from early and established Rheumatoid Arthritis before and after 3 months of DMARD therapy. It showed a positive and significant correlation among uric acid levels and CDAI and hs-CRP levels at diagnosis. There was significant reduction in the levels of CDAI, hs-CRP and UA after 3 months of DMARD therapy with significant correlation among the changes in the 3 parameters and the change in Uric Acid also correlated with the levels of CDAI and hs-CRP at diagnosis. We propose to measure uric acid both as acute phase reactant and marker for cardiovascular morbidity in patients suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Mode-Locked Thulium Ytterbium Co-Doped Fiber Laser with Graphene Oxide Paper Saturable Absorber

A mode-locked thulium ytterbium co-doped fiber laser （TYDFL） is proposed and demonstrated by using a commercial graphene oxide （GO） paper as saturable absorber （SA）. The GO paper is sandwiched between two fiber ferrules and incorporates a ring laser cavity to generate soliton pulse train operating at 1942.0nm at a threshold multimode pump power as low as 1.8 W. The mode-locked TYDFL has a repetition rate of 22.32 MHz and the calculated pulse width of 1.1 ns. Even though the SA has a low damage threshold, the easy fabrication of GO paper should promote its potentiM application in ultrafast photonics.

Rheumatoid synovial fibroblasts were used as an immunogen to produce monoclonal antibodies selected for their reactivity with stromal cell antigens. Mice were immunised with low passage whole cell preparations and the subsequent hybridomas were screened by immunohistochemistry on rheumatoid synovium and tonsil sections. The aim was to identify those antibodies that recognised antigens that were restricted to stromal cells and were not expressed on CD45 positive leucocytes. A significant number of antibodies detected antigen that identified endothelial cells. These antibodies were further characterised to determine whether the vessels identified by these antibodies were vascular or lymphatic. From five fusions clones were identified with predominant reactivity with: 1) fibroblasts and endothelial cells; or 2) broad stromal elements (fibroblast, endothelium, epithelium, follicular dendritic cells). A fibroblast-specific antibody that did not also identify vessels was not generated. Examples of each reactivity pattern are discussed.

Clinico-Epidemiological Profile and Diagnostic Procedures of Tuberculosis in Children: A Retrospective Study from OPD of Tertiary Care Center in Bangladesh

Background: Childhood Tuberculosis (TB) is an important cause of mortality and morbidity, which causes a significant TB burden in developing countries. Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe clinical profile and diagnostic procedures used in Outpatient Department (OPD) of a tertiary care hospital. Methods: It was a retrospective study conducted in OPD of Paediatrics Department, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Shahbag, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Age range of studied populations, 3 months to 18 years who presented with clinical features of TB and were later diagnosed with tuberculosis according to national guidelines for the management of tuberculosis in children, 2021 were enrolled in this study. A total of 108 diagnosed cases of Tuberculosis between August 2021 and July 2022 were enrolled in this study. Data were collected from OPD records and transferred into MS excel sheet for data processing & analysis. Results: Among 834 suspected patients, 108 patients aged 3 months to 18 years were diagnosed with tuberculosis. The highest number of cases 47 (43.51%) were found in 11 - 18 years age group. Gender distribution of the patient showed 58 (53.70%) were male and 50 (46.29%) were female. Among 108 TB cases, 44 (40.74%) were pulmonary TB and 64 (59.25%) were extrapulmonary TB. Among 64 extrapulmonary TB cases 38 (59.37%) cases were diagnosed as TB lymphadenitis. Fever 83 (76.85%), weight loss 62 (57.4%), cough 50 (46.29%), lump in neck and axilla 38 (35.18%) were found in most of the cases. A positive Mantoux test was found in 68 (62.96%) patients. Chest X-ray findings showed patchy opacity and consolidation in 46 (42.59%) cases. Suggestive FNAC from lymph node was observed among 35 (32.4%) cases. For bacteriological confirmation sputum gene Xpert and stool Xpert ultra were positive among 10 (9.25%) and 23 (21.29%) cases.
