The effect of tertiary flow length on asphalt concrete(AC) flow number(FN) has been studied in this paper. The standard FN test(AASHTO T378) designated by American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials(AASHTO) is currently among the widely adopted test for assessing the rutting performance of AC mixtures. The standard adopts the Fracken model(FM) for fitting the permanent deformation curve(PDC), prior to FN estimation. The FN was observed to vary as tertiary flow progresses. The FM, along with other PDC models(MFM-1 and MFM-2) obtained by modifying the FM, was utilized to analyze and minimized this variation. Variation of FN resulted because of mathematization of the PDC data. Instead of representing the actual initiating point of permanent shear deformation of the strain data, estimated values of FN were observed to indicate the inflection points of the fitted parent curve. As per standard FN range suggested by AASHTO T378, the observed variation in FN leads to the situation, where a single asphalt mix specimen can be regarded as appropriate for two different traffic levels, depending on the tertiary flow point at which the test is terminated. Supplementary steps in the FN estimation methods were proposed for refinement of FN values. For the refinement and further standardization of FN value and FN test respectively, FN:T(flow number to test duration ratio) has been recognized as the key and most simple solution. Two potential options for employing FN:T in the estimation of FN have also been highlighted. Several important correlations have been reported herein as well. Comparatively, MFM-1 was found to be more robust in FN:T curve utilization than MFM-2 and FM.

Vigorous and continued efforts by researchers and engineers have contributed towards maintaining environmental sustainability through the utilization of waste materials in civil engineering applications as an alternative to natural *** this study,granite aggregates in asphaltic mixes were replaced by electric arc furnace(EAF)steel slag aggregates with different proportions to identify the best combination in terms of superior *** mixtures showing the best performance were further reinforced with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA),acrylic,and polyester fibers at the dosages of 0.05%,0.15%,and 0.3%by weight of the *** performance tests of this study were resilient modulus,moisture susceptibility,and indirect tensile fatigue cracking *** findings of this study revealed that the asphalt mixtures containing coarse steel slag aggregate exhibited the best performance in comparison with the other ***,the reinforced asphalt mixtures with synthetic fibers at the content of 0.05%exhibited an almost comparable performance to the unreinforced asphalt *** the asphalt mixtures with PVA,acrylic,and polyester fibers at the proportion of 0.15%have improved the fatigue cracking resistance by 41.13%,29.87%,and 18.97%,***,the fiber-modified asphalt mixtures with PVA,acrylic,and polyester have enhanced the fatigue cracking resistance by about 57%,44%,and 39%,*** results of the resilient modulus demonstrated that as the fiber content increase,the resilient modulus of the reinforced asphalt mixtures ***,introducing synthetic fibers at the content of 0.3%has slightly decreased the resilient modulus in comparison with unreinforced *** the other hand,the results of the mechanisticempirical pavement design showed that the reinforced asphalt mixes with a high content of synthetic fibers have shown lower service life than the control mixes due to the low resilient *** the contra

The corrosion behavior of pure copper electrode exposed to artificial seawater has been studied using electrochemical noise analysis （ENA） and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS）. A diffusion process was observed for copper exposed to chloride media as indicated by the presence of a minimum phase angle over the lowest frequency range in the impedance plots. Analysis of electrochemical noise （EN） data has been collected both in time and frequency domains. Noise resistance Rn was obtained after analyzing EN data in the time domain. A good agreement was observed between Rn values and polarization resistance Rp values obtained from EIS analysis. Localization index Ii was not found to provide information concerning corrosion mechanisms. Also skewness and kurtosis for both potential and current fluctuations did not show any mechanistic information. It was concluded that ENA could detect the corrosion rate for copper exposed to chloride media, but was not found to provide information about the corrosion mechanisms.

Testing is an integral part of software *** fastpaced system developments have rendered traditional testing techniques ***,automated testing techniques are needed to adapt to such system developments ***-based testing(MBT)is a technique that uses system models to generate and execute test cases *** was identified that the test data generation(TDG)in many existing model-based test case generation(MB-TCG)approaches were still *** automatic and effective TDG can further reduce testing cost while detecting more *** study proposes an automated TDG approach in MB-TCG using the extended finite state machine model(EFSM).The proposed approach integrates MBT with combinatorial *** information available in an EFSM model and the boundary value analysis strategy are used to automate the domain input classifications which were done manually by the existing *** results showed that the proposed approach was able to detect 6.62 percent more faults than the conventionalMB-TCG but at the same time generated 43 more *** proposed approach effectively detects faults,but a further treatment to the generated tests such as test case prioritization should be done to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of testing.

Nowadays,quadcopters are presented in many life applications which require the performance of automatic takeoff,trajectory tracking,and automatic ***,researchers are aiming to enhance the performance of these vehicles through low-cost sensing solutions and the design of executable and robust control *** to high nonlinearities,strong couplings and under-actuation,the control design process of a quadcopter is a rather challenging ***,the main objective of this work is demonstrated through two main *** first is the design of an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)controller to develop the attitude and altitude of a *** second is to create a systematic framework for implementing flight controllers in embedded systems.A suitable model of the quadcopter is also developed by taking into account aerodynamics *** show the effectiveness of the ANFIS approach,the performance of a well-trained ANFIS controller is compared to a classical proportional-derivative(PD)controller and a properly tuned fuzzy logic *** controllers are compared and tested under several different flight conditions including the capability to reject external *** the first stage,performance evaluation takes place in a nonlinear simulation ***,the ANFIS-based controllers alongside attitude and position estimators,and precision landing algorithms are implemented for executions in a real-time *** precision landing systems,an IR-camera is used to detect an IR-beacon on the ground for precise *** flight tests of a quadcopter are conducted for results *** simulations and experiments demonstrated superior results for quadcopter stability in different flight scenarios.
