In-vitro antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of ethanol stem-bark extract of Blighia sapida ***

Blighia sapida(***)***(Family Sapindaceae)is a branchless straight bole approximately 15 m in *** study evaluated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of ethanol extract and fractions of *** stem-bark using in vitro *** extract and its fractions were investigated for 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH)radical scavenging activity,ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),total antioxidant capacity(TAC),and quantitative phenolic and flavonoid ***-inflammatory activity was evaluated using albumin denaturation and membrane stabilization *** extract and its fractions exhibited radical scavenging and anti-inflammatory *** ethyl acetate fraction possessed maximum phenolic and flavonoid contents(136.67±1.55 gallic acid equivalent mg/g and 75.76±4.03 quercetin equivalent mg/g,respectively).Antioxidant studies revealed that the ethyl acetate fraction displayed superior activity with an IC_(50)=0.09±0.03 mg/mL DPPH,and values of 146.96±3.81 ascorbic acid equivalent(AAE)mg/g and 359.20±4.98 AAE mg/g for FRAP and TAC,***,the anti-inflammatory activity was revealed by inhibition of heatinduced albumin denaturation and red blood cell membrane stabilization at concentrations of 200 -1000 mg/mL and 50-250 mg/mL,*** ethanol extract and fractions exhibited antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities,with ethyl acetate fraction showing superior activity,which could be attributed to secondary metabolites,mainly phenolic ***,the antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities of *** can be exploited by ethnomedicinal users.

Cement production is a major contributor to anthropogenic Co_(2) emissions and solid waste *** paper discusses some of the key issues as regards the slow progress in achieving environmental sustainability in the cement ***-niques such as carbon capture and storage(CCS),material substitution,alternative fuels and energy efficient technologies have been proposed as means of mitigating the negative environmental impact of cement *** was observed that much progress has been made in the area of eco-friendly research *** innovations(considered as disruptive by the mega co-operations)have had issues at the entrepreneurial *** so-called disruptive technologies have strug-gled to meet some performance requirements and satisfy funding evaluators thus are still difficult to fully *** systematisation of the environmental sustainability problem was discussed as a possible way forward both in the environ-mental,economic and social *** into the future,a greater emphasis on systematised decision-based approach could help breach the gap between on-paper plans and practical implementations to achieve environmental sustainability.

Introduction:osun River dissecting the osun-osogbo Sacred Grove,though inscribed on the World Heritage List,has been rarely assessed for biodiversity values or *** this study,we investigated the concentrations of Cu and Zn in the benthic sediments and two dominant gastropod species(Melanoides tuberculata and Lanistes varicus)of the osun *** sediment and gastropod samples were collected on quarterly basis from June 2015 to March 2016 along the longitudinal stretch of the *** samples were digested and analysed for Cu and Zn using the atomic absorption ***:With the exception of September sampling period,the two metals recorded higher values in the animals than in the ***(1.23±0.81μg/g)was much lower(power(poth *** metals recorded much lower values than their average concentrations in the Earth’s crust as well as the recommended limits for freshwater ***,*** recorded higher bioaccumulation factor than ***:Findings from this study suggest that both metals posed no toxicological risk to the freshwater system of osun *** of both metals in the sediments as well as their accumulation factors in both gastropod species were indicative of an unimpacted freshwater system.

Does External Debt Promote Human Longevity in Developing Countries?Evidence from West African Countries

This study assessed the impact of external debt on longevity in developing countries,particularly in West Africa,from 1981 to *** was proxied by life expectancy at birth,while the study evaluated effects from external debt from the perspective of sustainability,liquidity,and ***,outcomes from macroeconomic volatility were controlled through inflation and exchange rate ***,the robustness of inferences was ensured by using estimated outcomes from the cross-sectional augmented autoregressive distributed lag(CS-ARDL),dynamic common correlated effects(DCCE),and the Driscoll–Kraay(D–K)***,the study showed that unsustainable,illiquid,and insolvent external debt and macroeconomic volatility shorten longevity mainly in the long-term in West African ***,longevity will decline when weak external debt management promotes poverty in developing countries.

The Spectroscopic and Electronic Properties of Dimethylpyrazole and Its Derivatives Using the Experimental and Computational Methods

In this paper the spectroscopic and the geometric properties of four ligands with pyrazole unit are studied at both experimental and computational *** computational results are perfectly in good agreement with the experimental results especially in terms of the IR,1 H-NMR and 13 C-NMR *** spectroscopic features as well as the computed properties help to establish the successful synthesis of ligands bdmpzm and *** theoretical and the experimental IR and Raman significantly help in distinguishing the four *** results show that the Raman spectral is better applicable in characterising the CH3deformation,the C-H,CNN and CCNNout of the ligands but vibrations like N-H in dmpz and o-H,Co in bdmpza are observed to be Raman inactive.A significant variations are observed among the two available*N atoms characterising the bidentate features of bdmpzm,bdmpza and bdcpzm which indicates a possible different affinities for metal *** the result suggest that bdmpza will be the best starting material for NLo application than other while bdcpzm is predicted to have potential of been a poor coordinating *** computed variations in the properties of*N atoms that are the characteristic features of their power of coordination can be of immense help since these type of ligands have a wide application in transition metal coordination.

In vitro inhibition activity of polyphenol-rich extracts from Syzygium aromaticum(L.)Merr.& Perry(Clove)buds against carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes linked to type 2 diabetes and Fe^(2+)-induced lipid peroxidation in rat pancreas

To investigate and compare the inhibitory properties of free and bound phenolic extracts of clove bud against carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes (alpha-amylase & alpha-glucosidase) and Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation in rat pancreas in vitro. Methods: The free phenolics were extracted with 80% (v/v) acetone, while bound phenolics were extracted from the alkaline and acid hydrolyzed residue with ethyl acetate. Then, the interaction of the extracts with alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase was subsequently assessed. Thereafter, the total phenolic contents and antioxidant activities of the extracts were determined. Results: The result revealed that both extracts inhibited alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase in a dose-dependent manner. However, the alpha-glucosidase inhibitory activity of the extracts were significantly (Pory activity. The free phenolics (31.67 mg/g) and flavonoid (17.28 mg/g) contents were significantly (Pound phenolic (23.52 mg/g) and flavonoid (13.70 mg/g) contents. Both extracts also exhibited high antioxidant activities as typified by their high reducing power, 1,1 diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2, 2-azinobis-3-ethylbenzo-thiazoline-6-sulfonate (ABTS) radical scavenging abilities, as well as inhibition of Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation in rat pancreas in vitro. Conclusions: This study provides a biochemical rationale by which clove elicits therapeutic effect on type 2 diabetes.

Genomic and transcriptomic analyses reveal selection of genes for puberty in Bama Xiang pigs

The Bama Xiang pig （BMX） Chinese indigenous breed is a famous early-maturing with a two-end black coat To uncover the genetic basis of the BMX phenotype, we conducted comparative genomic analyses between BMX and East Asian wild boars and Laiwu pigs, respectively. Genes under positive selection were enriched in pathways associated with gonadal hormone and melanin synthesis, consistent with the phenotypic changes observed during development in BMX pigs. We also performed differentially expressed gene analysis based on RNA-seq data from pituitary tissues of BMX and Large White pigs. The CTTNBP2NL, FRS2, KANK4, and KATNAL1 genes were under selection and exhibited expressional changes in the pituitary tissue, which may affect BMX pig puberty. our study demonstrated the positive selection of early maturity in the development of BMX pigs and advances our knowledge on the role of regulatory elements in puberty evolution in pigs.

Sequence stratigraphic analysis and hydrocarbon prospectivity of AMo Field,deep offshore Niger Delta,Nigeria

An integrated interpretation of processed 3D seismic data,a suite of well logs,biostratigraphic data and core photographs of AMo Field,deep offshore Niger Delta,is carried out for the sequence stratigraphic analysis of strata penetrated by *** and key stratigraphic surfaces,that is,the maximum flooding surfaces(MFSs)and sequence boundaries(SBs),are identified based on bioevents and log *** data help the delineation of MFSs and SBs,as well as dating,determination of depositional environment and *** sequence stratigraphic study reveals seven MFSs(of 13.0 Ma,11.0 Ma,9.5 Ma,7.4 Ma,5.8 Ma,5.0 Ma and 2.7 Ma)and six SBs(of 12.1 Ma,10.3 Ma,8.5 Ma,6.3 Ma,5.5 Ma and 4.2 Ma).The key stratigraphic surfaces identified involve three depositional sequences characterized by lowstand,transgressive and highstand system tracts *** studied section is deposited in a deepwater environment ranging from Lower to Upper Bathyal and can be dated back to the Middle Miocene-Middle Pliocene in *** faults and two horizons(corresponding to reservoir units)are identified and mapped across the seismic data volume to establish a continuity of the reservoir to areas lacking well *** established sequence stratigraphic framework displays successions of sediments(system tracts)where the reservoir sand units of the lowstand and highstand system tracts are of hydrocarbon prospective units in the field.
