Sex pheromones are considered to play critical roles in partner communication of most parasitic ***,the identification of sex pheromone components remains limited to a few families of parasitoid *** this study,we functionally characterized a candidate sex pheromone component in Microplitis mediator(Hymenoptera:Braconidae),a solitary parasitoid of Noctuidae *** found that the body surface extract from female wasps could significantly stimulate courtship behavior of *** chromatography-electroantennographic detection(GC-EAD)analysis revealed that a candidate semiochemical from extract triggered significant electrophysiological response of antennae of *** performing gas chromatography-mass spectrometer(GC-MS)measurement,GC-EAD active compound was identified as n-octyl acrylate,a candidate sex pheromone component in female *** electroantennogram(EAG)tests,antennae of male wasps showed significantly higher electrophysiological responses to n-octyl acrylate than those of females.Y-tube olfactometer assays indicated that male wasps significantly chose n-octyl acrylate compared with the ***,male wasps showed a remarkable preference for n-octyl acrylate in a simulated field condition behavioral trial;simultaneously,n-octyl acrylate standard could also trigger significant courtship behavior in *** propose that n-octyl acrylate,as a candidate vital sex pheromone component,could be utilized to design behavioral regulators of *** to implement the protection and utilization of natural enemies.

SARS-CoV-2 is an emerging viral pathogen and a major global public health challenge since December of 2019, with limited effective treatments throughout the *** part of the innate immune response to viral infection, type Ⅰ interferons(IFN-Ⅰ) trigger a signaling cascade that culminates in the activation of hundreds of genes, known as interferon stimulated genes(ISGs), that collectively foster an antiviral *** report here the identification of a group of type Ⅰ interferon suppressed genes,including fatty acid synthase(FASN), which are involved in lipid *** of FASN or the addition of its downstream product, palmitate, increased viral infection while knockout or knockdown of FASN reduced *** importantly, pharmacological inhibitors of FASN effectively blocked infections with a broad range of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 and its variants of ***, our studies not only suggest that downregulation of metabolic genes may present an antiviral strategy by type Ⅰ interferon, but they also introduce the potential for FASN inhibitors to have a therapeutic application in combating emerging infectious diseases such as COVID-19.

Flocking control of a fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles

Current applications using single unmanned vehicle have been gradually extended to multiple ones due to their increased efficiency in mission accomplishment, expanded coverage areas and ranges, as well as enhanced system reliability. This paper presents a flocking control method with application to a fleet of unmanned quadrotor helicopters （UQHs）. Three critical characteristics of formation keeping, collision avoidance, and velocity matching have been taken into account in the algorithm development to make it capable of accomplishing the desired objectives （like forest/pipeline surveillance） by safely and efficiently operating a group of UQHs. To achieve these, three layered system design philosophy is considered in this study. The first layer is the flocking controller which is designed based on the kinematics of UQH. The modified Cucker and Smale model is used for guaranteeing the convergence of UQHs to flocking, while a repelling force between each two UQHs is also added for ensuring a specified safety distance. The second layer is the motion controller which is devised based on the kinetics of UQH by employing the augmented state-feedback control approach to greatly minimize the steady-state error. The last layer is the UQH system along with its actuators. Two primary contributions have been made in this work： first, different from most of the existing works conducted on agents with double integrator dynamics, a new flocking control algorithm has been designed and implemented on a group of UQHs with nonlinear dynamics. Furthermore, the constraint of fixed neighbouring distance in formation has been relaxed expecting to significantly reduce the complexity caused by the increase of agents number and provide more flexibility to the formation control. Extensive numerical simulations on a group of UQH nonlinear models have been carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Artemisia annua is an important preferred host of the mirid bug Apolygus lucorum in *** emitted from *** attract *** artemisinic acid of *** is a precursor of artemisinin that has been widely investigated in the Chinese herbal medicine ***,little is known at this point about the biological roles of artemisinic acid in regulating the behavioral trends of *** this study,we collected volatiles from *** at the seedling stage by using headspace solid phase microextraction(HS-SPME).Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) analysis showed that approximately 11.03±6.00 and 238.25±121.67 ng hartemisinic acid were detected in volatile samples and milled samples,***,a key gene for artemisinic acid synthesis,the cytochrome P450 gene cyp71 av1,was expressed in engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae to catalyze the production of artemisinic *** the addition of exogenous artemisinic alcohol or artemisinic aldehyde,artemisinic acid was identified as the product of the expressed *** electroantennogram(EAG) recordings,3-day-old adult *** showed significant electrophysiological responses to artemisinic alcohol,artemisinic aldehyde and artemisinic ***,3-day-old female bugs were significantly attracted by artemisinic acid and artemisinic alcohol at a concentration of 10 mmol L,whereas 3-day-old male bugs were attracted significantly by 10 mmol Lartemisinic acid and artemisinic *** propose that artemisinic acid and its precursors could be used as potential attractant components for the design of novel integrated pest management strategies to control ***.

Prognostic model of survival outcomes in non-small cell lung cancer patients initiated on afatinib: pooled analysis of clinical trial data

Objective: Several predictors of survival have been identified in EGFR-positive non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients treated with first generation EGFR inhibitors. Prognostic models of survival outcomes with afatinib have not been ***: A prognostic tool for overall survival(OS)/progression free survival(PFS) based on pre-treatment clinicopathological factors was developed for EGFR-positive advanced NSCLC patients treated with first-line afatinib using penalised regression of individual-participant data from LUX-Lung 3 and 6(n = 468). Favourable, intermediate and poor risk groups were identified and externally validated using LUX-Lung 1(n = 390) and LUX-Lung 2(n = 129) trials that initiated afatinib following previous chemotherapy or EGFR inhibitor ***: Discriminative performance was good in the development and validation cohorts. For patients treated with first-line afatinib, the median OS for the favourable, intermediate and poor risk groups were > 47.7, 29.3 and 16.4 months, respectively, and the median PFS were 17.3, 13.2 and 8.3 months, respectively. The improvement in median OS with afatinib use compared to chemotherapy was > 12.4 months for the favourable risk group, whereas no OS benefit was apparent for the poor risk group. The improvement in median PFS with afatinib use compared to chemotherapy was 10.2 months for the favourable risk group and 3.2 months for the poor risk ***: A prognostic tool was developed and validated to identify favourable, intermediate and poor risk groups for OS/PFS in EGFR-positive advanced NSCLC patients treated with afatinib. The prognostic groups can inform the likely absolute OS/PFS benefit expected from afatinib compared to chemotherapy in first-line treatment.

混合动力通过电动机和发动机两种动力源驱动车辆运行,两种动力源之间的切换对整车的动力性和驾驶性有着重要的影响。在客车用单轴并联式混合动力系统的基础上,针对混合动力系统两个动力源响应性差异而造成的整车纵向加速度冲击,以纯电动模式切换到纯发动机模式和混合驱动模式的过渡过程为研究重点,提出离合器结合过程的动态转矩控制策略,即在离合器结合之前和结合过程中,采用发动机转速自适应模糊比例积分微分(Proportional-integral-differential,PID)闭环控制跟随电动机转速;在离合器结合后,利用电动机补偿发动机动态转矩,并且在混合动力系统台架上对提出的动态控制策略进行验证。试验结果表明,PID所提出的离合器结合过程的动态转矩控制策略改善了整车纵向冲击度,提高整车的驾驶性能,为进一步的整车试验奠定基础。

MicroRNAs(miRNAs),a class of non-coding single-strand RNA molecules encoded by endogenous genes,are about 21–24 nucleotides long and are involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in plants and ***,the types and quantities of miRNAs in the different tissues of an organism are diverse,and these divergences may be related to their specific *** we have identified 296 known miRNAs and 46 novel miRNAs in the antennae of the parasitoid wasp Microplitis mediator by high-throughput ***-three miRNAs were predicted to target olfactory-associated genes,including odorant binding proteins(OBPs),chemosensory proteins,odorant receptors(ORs),ionotropic receptors(IRs)and gustatory *** these,17 miRNAs were significantly highly expressed in the antennae,four miRNAs were highly expressed both in the antennae and head or wings,while the remaining 12 miRNAs were mainly expressed in the head,thorax,abdomen,legs and ***,miR-9a-5p and miR-2525-3p were highly expressed in male antennae,whereas miR-1000-5p and novel-miR-13 were enriched in female *** 17 miRNAs highly expressed in antennae are likely to be associated with olfaction,and were predicted to target one OBP(targeted by miR-3751-3p),one IR(targeted by miR-7-5p)and 14 ORs(targeted by 15 miRNAs including miR-6-3p,miR-9a-5p,miR-9b-5p,miR-29-5p,miR-71-5p,miR-275-3p,miR-1000-5p,miR-1000-3p,miR-2525-3p,miR-6012-3p,miR-9719-3p,novel-miR-10,novel-miR-13,novel-miR-14 and novel-miR-28).These candidate olfactory-associated miRNAs are all likely to be involved in chemoreception through the regulation of chemosensory gene expression in the antennae of ***.

Sensory neuron membrane proteins(SNMPs),homologs of the human fatty acid transport protein CD36 family,are observed to play a significant role in chemoreception,especially in detecting sex pheromone in Drosophila and some lepidopteran *** the current study,two full‐length SNMP transcripts,MmedSNMP1 and MmedSNMP2,were identified in the parasitoid Microplitis mediator(Hymenoptera:Braconidae).Quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that the expression of MmedSNMP1 was significantly higher in antennae than in other tissues of both *** addition,the MmedSNMP1 transcript was increased dramatically in newly emerged adults and there were no significant differences between adults with or without mating and parasitic ***,compared with MmedSNMP1,the expression of MmedSNMP2 was widely found in various tissues,significantly increased at half‐pigmented pupae stage and remained at a relatively constant level during the following developmental *** was found that MmedSNMP1 contained eight exons and seven introns,which was highly conserved compared with other insect *** situ hybridization assay demonstrated that MmedSNMP1 transcript was distributed widely in antennal *** selected chemosensory genes(odorant binding protein,odorant receptor,and ionotropic receptor genes),MmedSNMP1 only partially overlapped with MmedORco in olfactory sensory neurons of *** immunolocalization results further indicated that MmedSNMP1 was mainly expressed in sensilla placodea of antennae and possibly involved in perceiving plant volatiles and sex *** findings lay a foundation for further investigating the roles of SNMPs in the chemosensation of parasitoids.

Recent advances in connected vehicles and autonomous driving are going to change the face of ground trans- portation as we know it. This paper describes the design and evaluation of several emerging applications for such a cyber transportation system （CTS）. These applications have been designed using holistic approaches, which consider the unique roles played by the human drivers, the transportation system, and the communication network. They can improve driver safety and provide on-road infotainment. They can also improve transportation operations and efficiency, thereby benefiting travelers and attracting investment from both government agencies and private businesses to deploy infrastructures and bootstrap the evolutionary process of CTS.

The microscopic morphology of electromagnetic wave absorbers influences the multiple reflections of electromagnetic waves and impedance matching,determining the absorption ***,the urchin-shaped bimetallic nickel-cobalt oxide/carbon(NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C)composites are prepared via a hy-drothermal route,whose absorption properties are investigated by different morphologies regulated by changing calcination temperature.A minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-75.26 dB is achieved at a match-ing thickness of 1.5 mm,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 8.96 GHz is achieved at 2 ***-advantages of the synthesized NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites contribute to satisfactory absorption ***,the interweaving of the needle-like structures increases the opportunities for scattering and multiple reflections of incident electromagnetic waves,and builds up a conductive network to facilitate the enhancement of conductive ***,the carbon component in the NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites en-hances the interfacial polarization and reduces the density of the ***,generous oxygen va-cancy defects are introduced into the NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites,which induces defect polarization and dipole *** summary,the ternary coordination of components,defects and morphology led to out-standing electromagnetic wave absorption,which lightened the path for improving the electromagnetic wave absorption property and enriching the family of NiCo_(2)O_(4) absorbers with excellent performance.
