The mechanisms that regulate neural stem cell(NSC)lineage progression and maintain NSCs within diffe rent domains of the adult neural stem cell niche,the subventricular zone are not well *** NSCs are arranged at the apical ventricular wall,while mitotically activated NSCs are found in the basal,vascular region of the subventricular ***,we found that ADAM 10(a disintegrin and metalloproteinase 10)is essential in NSC association with the ventricular wall,and via this adhesion to the apical domain,ADAM10 regulates the switch from quiescent and undiffe rentiated NSC to an actively prolife rative and differentiating cell *** of JAMC(junctional adhesion molecule C)by ADAM 10 increases Rap1 GAP *** molecular machinery promotes NSC transit from the apical to the basal compartment and subsequent lineage *** the molecular mechanisms responsible for regulating the proper positioning of NSCs within the subventricular zone niche and lineage progression of NSCs could provide new targets for drug development to enhance the regenerative prope rties of neural tissue.

The potential of Arctic routes(ARs)has attracted global attention,and exploiting the Arctic has become an important strategy for many ***,there are still some challenges for ships sailing in Arctic ice zones,including harsh marine environments and the insufficient service capacity of sea ice information service *** better understand the route changes in the Arctic and extract real-time ship navigation routes,we developed an online interactive route planning system(RouteView)for ships sailing in the Arctic based on big Earth *** includes two main features:(1)an online calculation interface is provided for optimal routes along the Arctic Northeast Passage(NEP)60 days into the future by utilizing reinforcement learning(RL)based on sea ice and meteorological data,and(2)an online ice-water classification is established based on synthetic aperture radar(SAR)data and deep learning to help users extract the sea ice distribution in real *** work can potentially enhance the safety of shipping navigation along the NEP and improve information extraction methods for ARs.

It is well known that transit through the epididymis involves an increase in the compaction of sperm chromatin, which acquires fully condensed status at the caput epididymidis. The purpose of this study was to compare the terminal deoxyribonucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end-labelling （TUNEL） assay, the comet assay, the sperm chromatin structure assay （SCSA） and the sperm chromatin dispersion （SCD） test by analysing spermatozoa from the caput and cauda epididymidis in order to demonstrate the ability of each technique to discriminate between different degrees of sperm maturity related to chromatin compaction and DNA fragmentation. Our results suggest that some populations of DNA-fragmented spermatozoa associated with immature sperm can only be identified using the comet assay and the SCSA but not with the SCD test or the TUNEL assay.

In an effort to maintain safety while satisfying growing air traffic demand,air navigation service providers are considering the inclusion of advisory systems to identify potential conflicts and propose resolution commands for the air traffic controller to verify and issue to *** understand the potential workload implications of introducing advisory conflict-detection and resolution tools,this paper examines a metric of controller taskload:how many resolution commands an air traffic controller issues under the guidance of an advisory *** a simulation study,the research presented here evaluates how the underlying protocol of a conflict-resolution tool affects the controller taskload(system demands)associated with the conflict-resolution process,and implicitly the controller workload(physical and psychological demands).Ultimately,evidence indicates that there is significant flexibility in the design of conflict-resolution algorithms supporting an advisory system.

The Public Works Research Institute Distributed Hydrological(PWRI-DH)for flood modeling is a combination of the tank model and the kinematic wave *** the PWRI-DH model,fitting the required parameters plays a fundamental *** developers of the PWRI-DH model have introduced the capability of obtaining parameters automatically using the baseline parameters;however,the results are not always the expected results because they depend on several factors and must be calibrated *** last issue has limited the interest of researchers regarding in the usage of the PWRI-DH *** this paper,we present a methodology to obtain the parameters required for the PWRI-DH model that enables to focusing only on the key ***,a parametric study is performed by identifying the influence of each parameter in the *** this study,we found that only four parameters play a fundamental role in the flood modeling using the PWRI-DH *** flood events in the Upper Aikawa River basin are used to calibrate the *** results showed that the proposed methodology is suitable and improve the efficient on the flood simulation of Aikawa River and similar rivers,when using the PWRI-DH model.

Research on Arctic passages has mainly focused on navigation policies,sea ice extraction models,and navigation of Arctic sea *** is difficult to quantitatively address the specific problems encountered by ships sailing in the Arctic in real time through traditional manual ***,existing sea ice information service systems focus on data sharing and lack online calculation and analysis capabil-ities,making it difficult for decision-makers to derive valuable informa-tion from massive amounts of *** improve navigation analysis through intelligent information service,we built an advanced Ship Navigation Information Service System(SNISS)using a 3D geographic information system(GIS)based on big Earth *** SNISS includes two main features:(1)heuristic algorithms were developed to identify the optimal navigation route of the Arctic Northeast Passage(NEP)from a macroscale perspective for the past 10 years to the next 100 years,and(2)for key sea straits along the NEP,online local seaice images can be retrieved to provide a fully automatic sea ice data processing workflow,solving the problems of poor flexibility and low availability of real sea ice remote sensing data *** work can potentially enhance the safety of shipping navigation along the NEP.

In this study, we evaluated the effects of genistein supplementation of the thawing extender on frozen-thawed human semen parameters. We analyzed the effect of supplementation on sperm motility, capacitation （membrane lipid disorder）, reactive oxygen species （ROS） generation, chromatin condensation and DNA damage. Using this preliminary information, it maybe possible to improve the cryopreservation process and reduce the cellular damage. We have confirmed that the isoflavone genistein （10 μmol L-1） has antioxidant properties on the frozen-thawed spermatozoa. This results in a decreased ROS production that shows a slight improvement in the sperm motility, and decreases the membrane lipid disorder and DNA damage caused by cryopreservation. These results suggest an effect of genistein on sperm functionality that could be of interest for assisted reproduction treatments using frozen- thawed human spermatozoa, but further studies will be necessary to confirm our findings and to evaluate the possible clinical applications.

Recent advances in thermochemical storage technology have introduced a novel closed-loop thermal energy storage(TES)system,known as the heat battery(HB),which is believed to have great potential for aiding the energy transition in the built environment because of its higher energy density and neglectable storage loss compared to conventional TES *** order to investigate the potential use cases of the HB and provide practical feedback for its further development,this research employs a simulation-based approach to analyze its influence on building performance in various use cases within Dutch residential *** including the homeowner,distribution system operator,and district heating system operator are identified,and a preliminary list of use cases is defined based on relevant literature and input from the HB *** simulation approach is conducted to predict key performance indicators for each *** Kruskal-Wallis test was employed to sort and scrutinize the simulation outcomes and discern the significance of each use case *** findings demonstrated that the HB holds the potential to diminish both the operational energy cost by up to 30%for the homeowners and the peak heating load transmitted from the building to the district heating system.
