Liveability experience of mountain-base residents:the case of Idi-ori-Shasha Mountain,Ibadan,Nigeria

The increasing influx of people to mountain base environments has opened up the area to a myriad of problems that threaten the liveability of the residents and the sustainability of the ***,sufficient empirical investigations have not looked at the particular issues that threaten their liveability *** the case of Idi-oriShasha mountain,this study examined the condition of informal urbanization at the mountain-base and equally investigated residents’living *** conducted questionnaire survey with closed and open-ended questions to collect data from 65 out of 533 houses within a buffer of 250 m from the mountain and retrieved 50 completed householdhead *** results revealed that majority of the residents were not satisfied living at the mountainbase because of the inadequate facilities that have contributed to their current living ***,mountain-base residents are liable to many liveability threats such as noise pollution,sleeplessness,building/wall cracks,destructive erosion,and water *** study recommends adequate infrastructural provision intervention in the area in order to upscale liveability dimensions and general residents’living ***,similar studies could be conducted elsewhere for validation and comparison of findings.

The Asian citrus psyllid （ACP） Diaphorina citri Kuwayama vectors pathogens that cause huanglongbing （HLB） or citrus greening devastating and economically im- portant disease present in most citrus growing regions. Young citrus shoots are required for psyllid reproduction and development. During winter citrus trees produce little or no new growth. overwintering adults reproduce in spring on newly emerging shoots also attractive to other pests and beneficial insects. Botanicals and relatively selective insecti- cides could help to conserve beneficial insects and reduce pest resistance to insecticides. Sprays of Azadirachtin （Neem）, Tropane （Datura）, Spirotetramat, Spinetoram, and broad- spectrum Imidacloprid were evaluated to control ACP in spring and summer on 10-year-old ＂Kinow＂ Citrus reticulata Blanco trees producing new growth. Psyllid populations were high averaging 5-9 nymphs or adults per sample before treatment application. Nymphs or adults were significantly reduced to 0.5-1.5 per sample in all treatments for 3 weeks, aver- age 61%-83% reduction. No significant reduction in ladybeetles Adalia bipunctata, Ane- glei scardoni, Cheilomenes sexmaculata, and Coccinella septempunctata was observed. Syrphids, spiders and green lacewings were reduced in treated trees except with Tropane. Studies are warranted to assess impact of these predators on ACP and interaction with insecticides. observed reduction in ACP populations may not be enough considering its reproductive potential and role in the spread of HLB. Follow-up sprays may be required to achieve additional suppression using rotations of different insecticides.

Melanoma is of the lethal and rare types of skin *** is curable at an initial stage and the patient can survive *** is very difﬁcult to screen all skin lesion patients due to costly *** are requiring a correct method for the right treatment for dermoscopic clinical features such as lesion borders,pigment networks,and the color of *** challenges are required an automated system to classify the clinical features of melanoma and non-melanoma *** trained clinicians can overcome the issues such as low contrast,lesions varying in size,color,and the existence of several objects like hair,reﬂections,air bubbles,and oils on almost all *** contour is one of the suitable methods with some drawbacks for the segmentation of irre-gular *** entropy and morphology-based automated mask selection is pro-posed for the active contour *** proposed method can improve the overall segmentation along with the boundary of melanoma *** this study,features have been extracted to perform the classiﬁcation on different texture scales like Gray level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM)and Local binary pattern(LBP).When four different moments pull out in six different color spaces like HSV,Lin RGB,YIQ,YCbCr,XYZ,and CIE L*a*b then global information from different colors channels have been ***,hybrid fused texture features;such as local,color feature as global,shape features,and Artiﬁcial neural network(ANN)as classiﬁers have been proposed for the categorization of the malignant and *** had been carried out on datasets Dermis,DermQuest,and *** results of our advanced method showed super-iority and contrast with the existing state-of-the-art techniques.

The electroless plating of palladium and palladium alloy membranes is fast becoming an important and enabling technology. This is more so when juxtaposed with the rising demand for high purity hydrogen for applications particularly in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). The effect of process factors such as sensitization and activation during surface modification, concentration of the reducing agent, plating temperature, time, pH, additives, air aeration on plating efficiency, quality of the palladium film and deposit morphology is reviewed with the aim of identifying areas requiring further investigation. The paper also reviews how these process factors could be optimised for better plating efficiency and overall membrane quality. The concentration of the reducing agent has been identified as the limiting factor on plating efficiency albeit other process factors separately impact on the plating efficiency. Furthermore, bulk precipitation caused by concentration of the reducing agent has been identified as a major problem during electroless plating with hydrazine based plating baths. To ameliorate this problem, a multi step addition of the hydrazine reducer in separate portions has been recommended.

Vesicle trafficking is an essential cellular process upon which many physiological processes of eukaryotic cells *** is usually the‘language’of communication among the components of the endomembrane system within a cell,between cells and between a cell and its external ***,cells have the potential to internalize membrane-bound vesicles from external sources by *** constantly interact with both mutualistic and pathogenic microbes.A large part of this interaction involves the exchange of transport vesicles between the plant cells and the ***,in a pathogenic interaction,the pathogen releases vesicles containing bioactive molecules that can modulate the host immunity when absorbed by the host *** response to this attack,the host cells similarly mobilize some vesicles containing pathogenesis-related compounds to the pathogen infection site to destroy the pathogen,prevent it from penetrating the host cell or annul its *** fact,vesicle trafficking is involved in nearly all the strategies of phytopathogen attack subsequent plant immune ***,this field of plant-pathogen interaction is still at its infancy when narrowed down to plant-fungal pathogen interaction in relation to exchange of transport ***,we summarized some recent and novel findings unveiling the involvement of transport vesicles as a crosstalk in plant-fungal phytopathogen interaction,discussed their significance and identified some knowledge gaps to direct future research in the *** roles of vesicles trafficking in the development of both organisms are also established.

ong>Background: ong>Semen analysis has remained an objective, inexpensive and readily available means of assessing male factor infertility. Aim and Objective: This study aims to determine the prevalence of male infertility, the types and semen quality among infertile couples attending infertility clinic at UDUTH, Sokoto. Materials and Method: This is a retrospective study carried out between January, 2012 to December, 2016. All case notes of infertile patients managed were retrieved The data obtained was analysed using SPSS version 20 and the results were presented in text, tables and charts. Results: Eight hundred and seventy-six out of 11,938 total gynaecological consultations over the study period were due to infertility, giving a prevalence of 7.3%. Among them, 34.4% (320) accounted for male factor infertility. The age ranged between 22 to 75 years with a mean of 37.44 years ± 7.44. Majority, 50.2% were within the ages of 35 - 44 years and up to 73.8% of them had at least secondary educationont-family:Verdana;"> and were mostly, 39.7% civil servants.
