Microwave steam pyrolysis(MSP)is an innovative thermochemical approach to converting biomass into high-quality biochar using steam to improve the dielectric heating of microwave *** shows high fixed carbon and carbon contents at a maximum temperature of 550℃in 10 *** MSP achieved a heating rate of 112℃/min from 200℃to 400℃to produce biochar ***,the thermal properties of biochar in microwave heating were investigated in this study to explore its potential as a microwave heat-absorbent *** is able to perform volumetric and controllable heating to the ***,biochar shows good microwave heat absorbency,storing and transferring heat *** temperature profile of three different sizes of biochar was investigated to examine the efficiency of biochar in heat absorption from microwave *** was found that the powder form of biochar showed a higher heat transfer rate of 40℃/min and a low cooling rate of 7.5℃/*** presented results are useful for evaluating the application of biochar as a promising medium for heat storage systems.

The toxicity and kinetic uptake potential of zinc oxide（Zn O） and titanium dioxide（TiO2）nanomaterials into the red bean（Vigna angularis） plant were investigated. The results obtained revealed that Zn O, due to its high dissolution and strong binding capacity, readily accumulated in the root tissues and significantly inhibited the physiological activity of the plant. However, TiO2 had a positive effect on plant physiology, resulting in promoted growth. The results of biochemical experiments implied that Zn O, through the generation of oxidative stress, significantly reduced the chlorophyll content, carotenoids and activity of stress-controlling enzymes. On the contrary, no negative biochemical impact was observed in plants treated with TiO2. For the kinetic uptake and transport study, we designed two exposure systems in which Zn O and TiO2 were exposed to red bean seedlings individually or in a mixture approach. The results showed that in single metal oxide treatments, the uptake and transport increased with increasing exposure period from one week to three ***, in the metal oxide co-exposure treatment, due to complexation and competition among the particles, the uptake and transport were remarkably decreased. This suggested that the kinetic transport pattern of the metal oxide mixtures varied compared to those of its individual constituents.

Mobile ad-hoc networks （MANETs） and wireless sensor networks （WSNs） have gained remarkable apprecia- tion and technological development over the last few years. Despite ease of deployment, tremendous applications and significant advantages, security has always been a challeng- ing issue due to the nature of environments in which nodes operate. Nodes＇ physical capture, malicious or selfish behav- ior cannot be detected by traditional security schemes. Trust and reputation based approaches have gained global recog- nition in providing additional means of security for decision making in sensor and ad-hoc networks. This paper provides an extensive literature review of trust and reputation based models both in sensor and ad-hoc networks. Based on the mechanism of trust establishment, we categorize the state- of-the-art into two groups namely node-centric trust mod- els and system-centric trust models. Based on trust evidence, initialization, computation, propagation and weight assign- ments, we evaluate the efficacy of the existing schemes. Fi- nally, we conclude our discussion with identification of some unresolved issues in pursuit of trust and reputation manage- ment.

High Power Highly Nonlinear Holey Fiber with Low Confinement Loss for Supercontinuum Light Sources

The high power holey fiber is an efficient supercontinuum light source by using picosecond pulse,which is a less expensive laser source compared with low power and expensive femtosecond laser sources. In this paper, a high power highly nonlinear holey fiber(HN-HF) with a low confinement loss is proposed for supercontinuum light sources. The finite difference method is used to calculate the different properties of the proposed HN-HF. High nonlinear coefficients are obtained at 1.06 μm, 1.31μm, and 1.55μm wavelengths with flattened chromatic dispersion and low confinement losses simultaneously. Moreover, numerical simulation results show that high power broad supercontinuum spectra with very short length of the proposed photonic crystal fiber are achieved.

We present the investigation on LaF3/porous silicon （PS） system that has properties of both the materials to be applied in photonics. Epilayers of LaF3 are grown on PS under different anodization conditions using electron-beam evaporation （EBE）. The characteristics of the LaF3/PS system are analyzed by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）, and photoluminescence （PL）. XRD confirms the polycrystalline nature of the LaFz film. Nearly stoichiometric growth of LaF3 on PS is established by EDX. Such a thin LaF3 layer grown on PS leads to a good enhancement of PL yield of PS. But with the increasing thickness of LaF3 layer, PL intensity of PS is found to decrease along with a small blue-shift.

For the first time,the present study reports the life-history traits,comprising length-frequency distribution(LFD),sex ratio(SR),length-weight relationships(LWRs),condition factors(CFs),and relative growth(W_R),of Clupisoma garua in the coastal waters of Bangladesh.A total of 150 specimens ranging from 8.60 to 25.20 cm total length(TL)and 4.26 to 128.80 g body weight(BW)were collected using traditional fishing gear from August 2013 to July *** overall sex ratio of males to females in the study did not dif fer significantly from the expected value of 1:1(χ~2=0.96,P<0.05)but there were significant sex differences(P<0.05)in the intercepts and slopes of graphs characterizing traits in *** calculated bvalues for the LWRs were 2.955,2.893 and 2.927 for males,females and combined sexes,respectively,and there was negative allometric growth in all cases(b<3).The condition factors(K_A,K_F,K_R)and relative growth(W R)also did not differ significantly(P<0.05)between the *** study provides a useful tool for fi shery specialists to evaluate the relative condition of fish and to initiate early management strategies and regulations for the sustainable management of the remaining stocks of this species in the entire coastal region of southern Bangladesh.

Ethylene Conversion to Higher Hydrocarbon over Copper Loaded BZSM-5 in the Presence of Oxygen

The successful production of higher hydrocarbons from methane depends on the stability or the oxidation rate of the intermediate products. The performances of the BZSM-5 and the modified BZSM-5 catalysts were tested for ethylene conversion into higher hydrocarbons. The catalytic experiments were carried out in a fixed-bed micro reactor at atmospheric pressure. The catalysts were characterized using XRD, NH3-TPD, and IR for their structure and acidity. The result suggests that BZSM-5 is a weak acid. The introduction of copper into BZSM-5 improved the acidity of BZSM-5. The conversion of ethylene toward higher hydrocarbons is dependent on the acidity of the catalyst. Only weaker acid site is required to convert ethylene to higher hydrocarbons. The loading of Cu on BZSM-5 improved the selectivity for higher hydrocarbons especially at low percentage. The reactivity of ethylene is dependent on the amount of acidity as well as the presence of metal on the catalyst surface. Cul%BZSM-5 is capable of converting ethylene to higher hydrocarbons. The balances between the metal and acid sites influence the performance of ethylene conversion and higher hydrocarbon selectivity. Higher loading of Cu leads to the formation of COx.

The dynamic nature of modern warfare,including threats and injuries faced by soldiers,necessitates the development of countermeasures that address a wide variety of *** engineering has emerged as a field with the potential to provide contemporary *** this review,discussions focus on the applications of stem cells in tissue engineering to address health risks frequently faced by combatants at *** development depends intimately on stem cells,the mysterious precursor to every kind of cell in the body that,with proper instruction,can grow and differentiate into any new tissue or *** reports have suggested the greater therapeutic effects of the anti-inflammatory,trophic,paracrine and immune-modulatory functions associated with these cells,which induce them to restore normal healing and tissue regeneration by modulating immune reactions,regulating inflammation,and suppressing ***,the use of stem cells holds significant promise for the treatment of many battlefield injuries and their *** applications include the treatment of injuries to the skin,sensory organs,nervous system tissues,the musculoskeletal system,circulatory/pulmonary tissues and genitals/testicles and of acute radiation syndrome and the development of novel *** new research developments in these areas suggest that solutions are being developed to reduce critical consequences of wounds and exposures suffered in *** military applications of stem cell-based therapies are already saving the lives of soldiers who would have died in previous *** that would have resulted in deaths previously now result in wounds today;similarly,today’s permanent wounds may be reduced to tomorrow’s bad memories with further advances in stem cell-based therapies.
