OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to characterize the neurotransmitter systems that cause constriction of murine *** Murine precision cut lung slices(PCLS)and trachea were prepared,placed into perfusion chambers equipped with platinum electrodes and stimulated transmurally(1.0 ms,50 V,0.1-30 Hz).To measure PCLS constriction,changes in airway luminal area in response to electric field stimulation(EFS)were captured as video images quantified using Image J *** trachea,changes in isometric tension were recorded using Grass force *** response curves were generated in the absence and the presence of the inhibitors magnesium,atropine and capsaicin and responses analyzed and compared using a student's t-test(P<0.05).RESULTS EFS caused airway constriction in a frequency-dependent manner that was best fit by a biphasic ***-specific stimulation was verified by Mg^(2+) *** airway constriction to 30 Hz EFS in PCLS was(51.8±3.0)%while tracheal constriction averaged(551±80)***,in PCLS the muscarinic receptor antagonist atropine(10μmol·L^(-1))blocked(99.5±7.2)%of EFS induced constriction at 1 Hz,but only blocked(23.3±3.8)%of EFS induced constriction at 30 Hz and eliminated the first phase but not the second phase of the biphasic EFS *** with capsaicin to deplete sensory neurotransmitters significantly increased EFS constriction supporting the presence of sensory neurotransmitter systems in *** These data are consistent with parasympathetic constriction of airways by acetylcholine at lower EFS frequencies while higher frequencies release sensory dilator *** data provide evidence for multiple nerve types innervating airways which may provide novel targets for treatment of lung disease.

Reproductive hormones in serum concentrations of progesterone,estradiol,and testosterone in female Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins(Tursiops aduncus,n=12)housed in Ocean Park Hong Kong were investigated in the present *** showed that,onset of puberty of captive Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins was at 5 years while sexual maturity was at *** serum progesterone concentrations in non-pregnant sexually mature individuals was 0.33(0.25–0.97)ng/mL(interquartile),significantly higher than in immature ones 0.26(0.25–0.38)ng/*** study found significant difference in serum estradiol concentrations between individuals at the onset of puberty(9.5±1.7 ng/mL,±SD)and not(below detection limit 9 pg/mL).A slightly seasonal breeding pattern,with progesterone values tend to be higher from February to October(0.38[0.25–1.07]ng/mL)was *** pregnancy,serum progesterone concentrations range from 10.54±8.74 ng/mL(indexed month post-conception[IMPC]0)to 25.49±12.06 ng/mL(IMPC 2),and display a bimodal pattern with 2 peaks in early-(25.49±12.06 ng/mL,IMPC 2)and late-pregnancy(21.71±10.25 ng/mL,IMPC 12),*** estradiol concentrations can seldom be detected in early-pregnancy and increase constantly in mid-(9.45±1.83 pg/mL)and late-pregnancy(11.88±3.81 pg/mL),with a spike(15.45±6.78 pg/mL)1 month prior to *** testosterone concentrations elevate significantly in IMPC 7(0.36±0.10 ng/mL)compared to other months(0.16±0.10 ng/mL)of the *** present study provides normal concentration profiles for some reproductive hormones in female Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins and can contribute to the breeding monitoring of this ***,our study would shed further light on the reproductive physiology of small cetaceans.

Several researches and case studies have been revealing a repetitive issue and that is monopolization of controlling, measuring, and metering of the consumer’s billing for the consumed Cloud Services. The Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) have been hiding, or monopolizing the controlling, metering tools and ignoring the calculation and consideration of the service defects like downtime, service outage, poor performance and client service migration delays during overloads of the servers. The main issues behind these discrepancies are the Service Level Agreement (SLA), its violation, and the monopolized Cloud Governance. Till now there is a lack of parallel monitoring and metering system of the consumed cloud services at the customer level under the provisions of SLAs. The Cloud Governance Tier has not given any flexibility or utility to monitor such consumed cloud services at the client tier in parallel to the CSP tier. This research is an effort to develop a SLA controlling/monitoring framework to solve the identified problems other than the CSP level. Further the E_Draw max was used for designing the framework. The framework consists of the components like;SLA_CSP, SLA_CSC, SLA_M&C and Cloud Services and Delivery Models. After designing the framework, a prototype was developed using CloudSim on java net beans, and MySQL database. This prototype was implemented using four scenarios to evaluate its performance and the functionalities. 1) Checking the SLA under CSP whether the resources to the consumer in the same manner with promised. 2) To check if the request from cloud consumer is less than what is expected in SLA. 3) To check by increasing the request of cloud consumer more than what is expected in SLA and 4) Using the SLA_M&C mechanism. After execution it was observed that, in the first and the second cases there is no violation, but there is violation in the third and fourth cases. To investigate serologically the presence of avian influenza virus (AIV) in backyard chickens from Mandlhakazi district, Southern *** total of 439 sera samples from unvaccinated and apparently healthy backyard chickens from 4 villages (Chidenguele, Macuacua, Chizavane, and Nwadjahane) were tested for the presence of AIV antibodies through commercial enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA) kit used according to manufacturer ***-AIV antibodies were detected in all villages surveyed. The overall seroprevalence obtained was 32.6% (95% CI 28.2%-37.0%). The highest prevalence of 51.3% (95% CI 42.3%-60.2%) was recorded in Macuacua village, while the lowest prevalence of 13.0% (95% CI 6.2%-19.9%) was found in Chizavane village. The results of logistic regression analyses suggested that chicken being located in Chizavane and Macuacua villages were more unlikely for getting the virus exposure (P < 0.05).ConclusionsOur findings suggested that AIV is widespread within backyard chickens in the studied villages. Further research is needed to identify the circulating virus genotypes and determine the potential role of backyard chickens in the zoonotic transmission of AIV in Mozambique.

There is a lack of facade design methods for early design stages to balance thermal comfort and daylight provision that consider the obstruction angle as an independent variable without using modeling and *** paper aims to develop easy-to use solar radiationbased prediction method for the design of office building facades(i.e.,design parameters:room size,window-to-floor ratio,and glazing thermal/optical properties)located in urban canyons to balance daylight provision according to the European standard EN 17037:2018 and thermal comfort through specific cooling *** used a simulation-based methodology that includes correlation analyses between building performance metrics and design parameters,the development of design workflows,accuracy analysis,and validation through the application of the workflows to a new development office building facades located in Tallinn,*** validation showed that the mean percentage of right/conservative predictions of thermal comfort classes is 98.8%whereas for daylight provision,it is higher than 75.6%.The use of the proposed prediction method can help designers to work more efficiently during early design stages and to obtain optimal performative solutions in much shorter time:window sizing in 73,152 room combinations in 80 s.

The combined influence of maturation,ripening,and climate on the profile of bioactive compounds was studied in banana(Musa acuminata,AAA,Cavendish,*** Naine).Their bioactive compounds were determined by the Folin-Ciocalteu assay and high-performance thin layer chromatographic(HPTLC) *** polyphenol content of bananas harvested after 400 degree days remained unchanged during ripening,while bananas harvested after 600 and 900 degree days exhibited a significant polyphenol *** dopamine was the polyphenol with the highest concentration in banana peels during the green developmental stage and ripening,its kinetics differed from the total polyphenol *** results showed that this matrix of choice(maturation,ripening,and climate) may allow selection of the banana(***,AAA,Cavendish,*** Naine) status that will produce optimal concentrations of identified compounds with human health relevance.

FT-1R spectroscopy of carboxylic groups and viability tests were useful to understand the antibacterial proper- ties of six highly efficient silver（I） pyridinecarboxylate （nicotinic, picolinic and isonicotinic acids） and bipiridinecarboxylate （pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic, pyridine-2,4-dicarboxylic and pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acids） complexes with Ag--O and Ag--N bonds against E. coli （ATCC 25922） and Streptococcus＇ agalactiae （ISP 329-09）. The resuits show a tendency between the nature of Ag--X （X=oxygen and nitrogen） bonds and the rate or efficiency of antibacterial behavior.

High-speed railway bridges are subjected to normative limitations concerning maximum permissible deck *** the design of these structures,the European norm EN 1991-2 introduces the high-speed load model(HSLM)—a set of point loads intended to include the effects of existing high-speed ***,the evolution of current trains and the recent development of new load models motivate a discussion regarding the limits of validity of the *** this study,a large number of randomly generated load models of articulated,conventional,and regular trains are tested and compared with the envelope of HSLM *** each type of train,two sets of 100,000 load models are considered:one abiding by the limits of the EN 1991-2 and another considering wider *** comparison is achieved using both a bridge-independent metric(train signatures)and dynamic analyses on a case study bridge(the Canelas bridge of the Portuguese Railway Network).For the latter,a methodology to decrease the computational cost of moving loads analysis is *** show that some theoretical load models constructed within the stipulated limits of the norm can lead to effects not covered by the *** is especially noted in conventional trains,where there is a relation with larger distances between centres of adjacent vehicle bogies.
