Sludge granulation and efficiency of phase separator in UASB reactor treating combined industrial effluent

Sludge granulation and the effect of gas-liquid-solid separator （GLSS） design on the efficiency of upflow anaerobic sludge blanket （UASB） and upflow anaerobic sludge filter （UASF） reactors, operating at HRTs ranging from 3 to 12 h was investigated. VSS/TS ratio gradually increased in both the reactors with increasing sludge age （from 0.5 to more than 0.7 for UASB reactor and 0.012 to 0.043 for UASF reactor）. X-Ray diffraction analysis of the UASF sludge showed the presence of expanding clays revealing its additional absorption capability. Fuoraphyllite and albite precipitation related to excellular polymers of the microbial shell structure, showed the extended growth of microorganisms during sludge granulation. A gradual decrease （82%-69%） in COD removal with decreasing HRT was apparent in UASF reactor. In case of UASB reactor, this decrease was marginal because addition of GLSS device significantly improved （14%-20%） the overall efficiency of the UASB reactor. GLSS enhanced the efficiency of the UASB reactor by increasing the settleability of suspended particles and accelerating the coagulation of colloidal particles due to the velocity gradient.

Aim:To investigate the effect of gabapentin on neural [neuron-specific enolase（NSE）] and glial markers [glial fibrillary acidic protein （GFAP） and S 100B] in differ-ent brain regions of diabetic ***:Diabetes was induced by a singleintraperitoneal injection of streptozotocine （50 mg/kg body weight）.Rats in onediabetic group received gabapentin (50 ***-1.d-1) and rats in the other diabeticgroup received vehicle only for 6 *** levels of GFAP,S100B,and NSE weredetermined by immunoblotting in the hippocampus,cortex,and *** （LPO as malondialdehyde+ 4-hydroxyalkenals） and glutathione （GSH）levels were also determined in the same brain ***:Total and degradedGFAP content and S100B protein expression in different areas of brain tissuessignificantly increased in diabetic rats compared to control ***,NSElevels were also significantly elevated in hyperglycemic *** addition,therewas a significant increase in LPO levels in the diabetic rat brain compared tocontrol rat *** with gabapentin prevented the upregulation ofGFAP,S 100B,and NSE in all brain regions of diabetic *** level of LPO wasreduced,but not completely halted,by treatment with ***:These results suggest that diabetes causes glial and neuronal injury,possibly asa result of elevated oxidative stress,and that gabapentin protects neurons andglial ***,we predict that gabapentin treatment will attenuate the hippo-campal and cortical neurodegeneration observed during diabetes mellitus in rats.

Unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),commonly known as drones,have drawn significant consideration thanks to their agility,mobility,and flexibility *** play a crucial role in modern reconnaissance,inspection,intelligence,and surveillance *** path planning(CPP)which is one of the crucial aspects that determines an intelligent system’s quality seeks an optimal trajectory to fully cover the region of interest(ROI).However,the flight time of the UAV is limited due to a battery limitation and may not cover the whole region,especially in large ***,energy consumption is one of the most challenging issues that need to be *** this paper,we propose an energy-efficient coverage path planning algorithm to solve the CPP *** objective is to generate a collision-free coverage path that minimizes the overall energy consumption and guarantees covering the whole *** do so,the flight path is optimized and the number of turns is reduced to minimize the energy *** proposed approach first decomposes the ROI into a set of cells depending on a UAV camera ***,the coverage path planning problem is formulated,where the exact solution is determined using the CPLEX *** small-scale problems,the CPLEX shows a better solution in a reasonable ***,the CPLEX solver fails to generate the solution within a reasonable time for large-scale ***,to solve the model for large-scale problems,simulated annealing forCPP is *** results show that heuristic approaches yield a better solution for large-scale problems within amuch shorter execution time than the CPLEX ***,we compare the simulated annealing against the greedy *** results show that simulated annealing outperforms the greedy algorithm in generating better solution quality.

Multi-stage ignition and/or double NTC(negative temperature coefficient)behavior resulted from the low-temperature oxidation of ether compounds are still not clearly *** have investigated the oxidation mechanism of a stoichiometric DEE(diethyl ether)/air mixture by using a micro flow reactor with a controlled temperature profile to see the detail of low-temperature weak flame *** simulation was also performed to understand the chemical kinetics mechanism of observed weak flame *** measurement showed separated weak flame in the temperature range of 600 K-800 *** simulation also qualitatively reproduced this separated weak flame,and showed four peak of heat *** the reaction flow analysis,it was found that(1)O-O bond scission reaction of keto-hydroperoxide produced by DEE,(2)O-O bond scission reaction of CH3O2H,CH3CO3H,and C2H5O2H,(3)O-O bond scission reaction of H2O2,and(4)H+O2=O+OH are key chain branching reactions to explain the multi-stage oxidation.

For intelligent surveillance videos,anomaly detection is extremely *** learning algorithms have been popular for evaluating realtime surveillance recordings,like traffic accidents,and criminal or unlawful incidents such as suicide ***,Deep learning methods for classification,like convolutional neural networks,necessitate a lot of computing *** computing is a branch of technology that solves abnormal and complex problems using quantum *** a result,the focus of this research is on developing a hybrid quantum computing model which is based on deep *** research develops a Quantum Computing-based Convolutional Neural Network(QC-CNN)to extract features and classify anomalies from surveillance footage.A Quantum-based Circuit,such as the real amplitude circuit,is utilized to improve the performance of the *** far as my research,this is the first work to employ quantum deep learning techniques to classify anomalous events in video surveillance *** are 13 anomalies classified from the UCF-crime *** on experimental results,the proposed model is capable of efficiently classifying data concerning confusion matrix,Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC),accuracy,Area Under Curve(AUC),precision,recall as well as *** proposed QC-CNN has attained the best accuracy of 95.65 percent which is 5.37%greater when compared to other existing *** measure the efficiency of the proposed work,QC-CNN is also evaluated with classical and quantum models.

SubStop:An analysis on subscription email bombing attack and machine learning based mitigation

Email Bombing,a kind of denial-of-service(DoS)attack is crippling internet users and is on the rise recently.A particularly notorious type is the Subscription Bombing attack,where a victim user’s inbox is bombarded with a stream of subscription emails at a particular *** kind of attack helps the perpetrator to hide their real motive in lieu of a barrage of legitimate-looking *** main challenge for detecting subscription bombing attacks is that most of the attacking email appears to be legitimate and benign and thus can bypass existing anti-spam *** order to shed some light on the direction of detecting the bombing attacks,in this paper we first conduct some reverse engineering study on the Gmail anti-spam mechanism(as the information is not publicly available)and in-depth feature analysis of real-life bombing attack *** the insights from our reverse engineering study and data analysis,we propose a novel layered detection architecture,termed as SubStop,to detect and mitigate subscription *** exploits the statistics of incoming volume,source domain distribution,the correlation among different features,and implements machine learning to achieve effective *** specific,we utilize the weighted support vector machine(WSVM)and properly tune the class weights to achieve high accuracy in detecting bombing *** the scarcity of public email data sets,we conduct extensive experiments on a real-life subscription bomb attack and real-time attacks using our bombing simulation script(which is facilitated by our reverse engineering findings),on test email *** experimental results show that our proposed architecture is very robust and highly accurate in detecting and mitigating a subscription bombing attack.

Purpose:As a borrowed concept,science,technology,engineering,and mathematics(STEM)education holds limited relevance in many country *** study investigates how school administrators in Turkey view STEM education from three dimensions:(a)their understanding of STEM education,(b)their experiences of STEM implementations,and(c)their perception of their roles in STEM ***/Approach/Methods:This phenomenological study analyzes the perceptions of school principals working in prominent high schools in ***:The findings indicate that there are gaps in STEM implementation at both the conceptual level and the school level,including epistemological issues,infrastructural gaps,mismatch with overall organizational culture,and knowledge and skill *** efforts to integrate STEM education into educational practices,significant deficiencies are making it an unrealistic practice in ***/Value:While the literature on STEM education is expanding,a few empirical studies focus on school management in relation to STEM ***,despite promising to transform science and mathematics teaching,STEM education appears to have limited relevance to science and mathematics teaching in Turkeyrendering it yet another example of concept and policy borrowing in education.
