BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic posed a danger to global public health because of the unprecedented physical,mental,social,and environmental impact affecting quality of life(QoL).The study aimed to find the changes in QoL among COVID-19 recovered individuals and explore the determinants of change more than 1 year after recovery in low-resource ***-19 patients from all eight divisions of Bangladesh who were confirmed positive by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction from June 2020 to November 2020 and who subsequently recovered were followed up twice,once immediately after recovery and again 1 year after the first *** follow-up study was conducted from November 2021 to January 2022 among 2438 individuals using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Brief Version(WHOQOL-BREF).After excluding 48 deaths,95 were rejected to participate,618 were inaccessible,and there were 45 cases of incomplete *** statistics,paired-sample analyses,generalized estimating equation(GEE)analysis,and multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed to test the mean difference in participants’QoL scores between the two *** participants(n=1710,70.1%)were male,and one-fourth(24.4%)were older than *** average physical domain score decreased significantly from baseline to follow-up,and the average scores in psychological,social,and environmental domains increased significantly at follow-up(P<0.05).By the GEE equation approach,after adjusting for other factors,we found that older age groups(P<0.001),being female(P<0.001),having hospital admission during COVID-19 illness(P<0.001),and having three or more chronic diseases(P<0.001),were significantly associated with lower physical and psychological QoL *** age and female sex[adjusted odd ratio(aOR)=1.3,95%confidence interval(CI)1.0–1.6]were associated with reduced social domain scores on multivariable logistic regression *** or semi-urban peo

Detailed characterization of kHz-rate laser-driven fusion at a thin liquid sheet with a neutron detection suite

We present detailed characterization of laser-driven fusion and neutron production(-10^(5)/second) using 8 mJ, 40 fs laser pulses on a thin(<1 μm) D_2O liquid sheet employing a measurement suite. At relativistic intensity(~ 5 × 10^(18)W/cm^(2))and high repetition rate(1 kHz), the system produces deuterium±deuterium(D-D) fusion, allowing for consistent neutron generation. Evidence of D-D fusion neutron production is verified by a measurement suite with three independent detection systems: an EJ-309 organic scintillator with pulse-shape discrimination, a ~3He proportional counter and a set of 36 bubble detectors. Time-of-flight analysis of the scintillator data shows the energy of the produced neutrons to be consistent with 2.45 MeV. Particle-in-cell simulations using the WarpX code support significant neutron production from D-D fusion events in the laser±target interaction region. This high-repetition-rate laser-driven neutron source could provide a low-cost, on-demand test bed for radiation hardening and imaging applications.

In an Underwater Wireless Sensor Network(UWSN),extreme energy loss is carried out by the early expiration of sensor nodes and causes a reduction in efficiency in the submerged acoustic sensor *** based on clustering strategies,instead of each node sending information by itself,utilize cluster heads to collect information inside the clusters for forwarding collective information to *** can effectively minimize the total energy loss during *** environment of UWSN is 3D architecture-based and follows a complex hierarchical clustering strategy involving its most effecting unique parameters such as propagation delay and limited transmission *** base clustering strategy works in rounds,where each round comprises three fundamental stages:cluster head selection,grouping or node association,and data aggregation followed by forwarding data to the *** UWSN,the energy consumed during the formation of clusters has been considered casually or completely evaded in the previous *** this paper,the cluster head setup period has been considered the main contributor to extra energy utilizer.A numerical channel model is proposed to compute extra *** is performed by using a UWSN broad *** results have shown that extra maximum energy consumption is approximately 12.9 percent of the system total energy consumed in information transmissions.

Fourth-harmonic generation via nonlinear diffraction in a 2D LiNbO_3 nonlinear photonic crystal from mid-IR ultrashort pulses

Five conical harmonic beams are generated from the interaction of femtosecond mid-infrared （mid-IR） pulses at a nominal input wavelength of 1997 nm with a 2D LiNbO3 nonlinear photonic crystal with Sierpinski fractal superlattices. The main diffraction orders and the corresponding reciprocal vectors involved in the interaction are ascertained. Second and third harmonics emerging at external angles of 23.82° and 36.75° result from non-linear Cerenkov and Bragg diffractions, respectively. Three pathways of fourth-harmonic generation are observed at external angles of 14.21°, 36.5°, and 53.48°, with the first one resulting from nonlinear Cerenkov diffraction, and the other two harmonics are generated via different cascaded processes.

Diabetes is a metabolic illness defined by hyperglycemia that affects 10% of the world’s population. Diabetic complications such as blindness, kidney failure, and heart failure can develop if left untreated and are made worse by oxidative stress. Oxidative stress contributes to the rise of diabetic complications, particularly type-2 diabetes. In the blood vessels of diabetic individuals, it causes endothelial dysfunction. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Nowadays, it is alarming that the number of diabetic patients is increasing dramatically. There are plenty of anti-diabetic drugs available on the market, but they possess several adverse effects and do not completely cure diabetes. It has now become a financial burden on patients, their families, and society as well. Medicinal plants have gained popularity in developed and developing countries over the last two decades because of their vast natural sources and lack of harmful effects compared to modern allopathic medications. According to the World Health Organization, traditional medicines, which are mostly manufactured from plants, are still used by 80% of the population in developing countries for the management and curing of diseases. This review includes 81 Bangladeshi medicinal plants from 51 different families that can be used to treat diabetes and oxidative stress. Among them, Psidium guajava (L.), Aloe vera, Catharanthus roseus, Allium sativum, Annona squamosa, Cinnamon zeylaniucm, Amaranthus esculentus, Eugenia jambolana, Azadirachta indica, Moringa oleifera, Spondias pinnata, Coccinia grandis (L.), Momordica charantia L., Heretiera fomes, Trigonella foenum-graecum were most potent. Nickel-Phosphorus Deposition on Pretreated Aluminium Alloys during Immersion in Electroless Nickel Bath

Electroless nickel deposition as a non-electrochemical redox reaction process involving the reduction of nickel ions to nickel has been widely used in the plating industry especially for pretreatment of aluminum alloys to enhance corrosion and wear properties. This paper has studied the surface structural characteristics of nickel-phosphorus deposition onto aluminium alloys during autocatalytic nickel immersion using hypophosphite ion as reducing agent. The analysis explains the development of grains and crystal orientation during nucleation, growth and coalescence of crystallites. Surface changes as a result of electroless Ni-P deposition were characterized using scanning electron microscope (SEM), and X-Ray diffraction pattern analysis while surface elemental composition and changes during pretreatment were determined using Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDXA) and X-ray-Photoelectron Spectroscopy. Overall, surface analyses results of pretreated aluminium alloys immersed in electroless nickel bath varied from alloy to alloy and showed differences in surface elemental composition as well as significant phase and morphological changes with immersion time which could have affected the pretreatment process.

本研究以孟加拉的Cox’s Bazar海滩和Sundarbans地区红树林的经济价值作为研究重点,采用适用性较强的个人旅行费用模型,对这两个地区海岸带生境的休闲娱乐价值进行了评估。通过设计问卷调查的方式,在现场调查中收集初始数据。考虑到数据类型,使用负二项回归模型来对单次行程中的个人平均消费者剩余和游客需求函数进行估计。数据计量分析通过E-Views软件完成,在得到总出行成本的回归系数后,对人均消费者剩余和需求曲线进行了估算。每次行程的平均个人消费者剩余是计算两个地区生境总休闲娱乐价值的依据。经估算得到,Cox’sBazar海滩的个人年均户外娱乐需求价值是2023塔卡或24.67美元,Sundarbans地区红树林的个人年均户外娱乐需求价值是17628塔卡或214.97美元。Cox’s Bazar海滩的年均总休闲娱乐价值是203172万塔卡或2448万美元,Sundarbans地区红树林的年均总休闲娱乐价值是215067万塔卡或2591万美元。根据研究结果,本研究进行了两个不同生境游憩价值的对比讨论,并给出相关的政策建议。

Substrates for clinical applicability of stem cells

The capability of human pluripotent stem cells(h PSCs) to differentiate into a variety of cells in the human body holds great promise for regenerative medicine. Many substrates exist on which h PSCs can be self-renewed, maintained and expanded to further the goal of clinical application of stem cells. In this review, we highlight numerous extracellular matrix proteins, peptide and polymer based substrates, scaffolds and hydrogels that have been pioneered. We discuss their benefits and shortcomings and offer future directions as well as emphasize commercially available synthetic peptidesas a type of substrate that can bring the benefits of regenerative medicine to clinical settings.

Chromium Electroplating of Aluminium Alloys Using Electroless Nickel as Underlayer

The growing demand for chromium coated aluminium components especially for the automotive industry is due to their favourable physical properties (density, strength to weight ratio etc.). However, their frequent use under harsh environmental conditions renders them corrosion sensitive and consequently they need to be protected. An approach that has been applied in industry is to directly electroplate nickel onto aluminium substrate prior to a top metallic finish;however, in components with complex geometry, certain areas could become exposed to corrosion attack due to poor surface coverage during plating. In this study, a modified electroless nickel undercoat was applied to pre-treated aluminium alloys prior to duplex nickel and chromium plating with a view to enhance corrosion resistance, improve coating adherence and durability, and overall, to achieve substrate protection. Hexavalent and trivalent chromium were applied to pre-treated Al 1050 and Al 6061 following electroless nickel deposition, and plating performance was assessed by surface and corrosion techniques, while durability was measured by scratch, adhesion and hardness tests. Overall, while chromium plating with an electroless nickel undercoat did not improve corrosion resistance or hardness of the materials, it provided an additional protective layer for the substrate with a potential for longer term durability.
