Chronic effects of stretching on range of motion with consideration of potential moderating variables:A systematic review with meta-analysis

Background:It is well known that stretch training can induce prolonged increases in joint range of motion(ROM).However,to date more information is needed regarding which training variables might have greater influence on improvements in ***,the purpose of this metaanalysis was to investigate the effects of stretch training on ROM in healthy participants by considering potential moderating variables,such as stretching technique,intensity,duration,frequency,and muscles stretched,as well as sex-specific,age-specific,and/or trained state-specific adaptations to stretch ***:We searched through PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science,and SportDiscus to find eligible studies and,finally,assessed the results from 77 studies and 186 effect sizes by applying a random-effect ***,by applying a mixed-effect model,we performed the respective subgroup *** find potential relationships between stretch duration or age and effect sizes,we performed a ***:We found a significant overall effect,indicating that stretch training can increase ROM with a moderate effect compared to the controls(effect size=-1.002;Z=-12.074;95%confidence interval:-1.165 to-0.840;p<0.001;I^(2)=74.97).Subgroup analysis showed a significant difference between the stretching techniques(p=0.01)indicating that proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and static stretching produced greater ROM than did ballistic/dynamic ***,there was a significant effect between the sexes(p=0.04),indicating that females showed higher gains in ROM compared to ***,further moderating analysis showed no significant relation or ***:When the goal is to maximize ROM in the long term,proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation or static stretching,rather than ballistic/dynamic stretching,should be *** to consider in future research as well as sports practice is that neither volume,intensity,nor frequency of stretching were

Signal promoting role of a p-type transition metal dichalcogenide used for the detection of ultra-trace amounts of diclofenac via a labeled aptasensor

A p-type transition metal dichalcogenide(WS2)was synthesized and hybridized with graphene oxide via a simple hydrothermal *** as-prepared material was used to modify a glassy carbon electrode for the fabrication of a simple,stable,and repeatable methylene blue-labeled“signal-off”aptasensor used for the sensitive determination of very low amounts of sodium diclofenac(DCF).The synthetic material,modification process,and role of WS2 in the current response enhancement were studied by X-ray diffraction,energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,field emission scanning electron microscopy,high resolution transmission electron microscopy,Hall effect,cyclic voltammetry,differential pulse voltammetry,and electrochemical impedance ***,a wide linear range of DCF concentration(0.5-300 nmol/L),very low limit of detection(0.23 nmol/L),and good selectivity were obtained using the differential pulse voltammetry method with the assembled ***,the fabricated aptasensor was successfully developed for physiological real samples with significant recoveries.

Effect of welding temperature and duration on properties of 7075 Al to AZ31B Mg diffusion bonded joint

7075 Al alloy and AZ31B Mg alloy were joined by diffusion welding technique at pressure 29 MPa with various welding temperatures and durations. Scanning electron microscopy examination, shear tests and microhardness evaluation were conducted on the samples interface to find out the effect of welding temperatures and durations on the weldability. The results demonstrate that the AZ31B Mg/7075 Al composite plates are bonded well and the intermetallic phases such as Al_（12）Mg_（17） and Al_（3）Mg_（2） within the joint zone form. It is found that due to the grain coarsening and the formation of brittle compounds, high welding temperatures and long welding durations result in a decrease of shear strength and increase of interfacial welding hardness. The minimum shear strength of 15 MPa along with the maximum microhardness of HV 176 are obtained for the diffusion couple processed at 450 °C for 120 min. It is revealed that enhancing the temperature and choosing appropriate holding time makes a remarkable increase of interfacial welding thickness. Increasing the welding temperature from 430 to 450 °C along with long welding duration（120 min） results in the increase of interfacial welding thickness by 26% where this value is 6% at the welding performed for 60 min.

利用SiO_2纳米流体开展岩心驱替实验,通过注入SiO_2纳米流体改变孔壁的表面性质,加强颗粒与孔壁间的吸引力,克服水动力排斥力,以提高临界流速,控制储集层中微粒运移、提高注液速度。在注水过程中注入SiO_2纳米颗粒控制微粒的运移,有助于设计更高的产/注液速度。驱替实验结果表明质量分数为0.1%的SiO_2纳米流体控制微粒运移的性能最好,可将微粒运移量降低80%。增加注入流体的盐度并不能改善纳米流体控制微粒运移的性能。通过测量岩心表面的Zeta电位,得知SiO_2纳米颗粒由于带负电荷不能改变孔壁上的Zeta电位。原子力显微镜(AFM)分析证明,控制微粒运移的主要机理是SiO_2纳米流体增加了孔壁的粗糙度,需要更大的水动力才能使多孔介质中的微粒开始移动。对于所有实验都计算了微粒上的总作用力和扭矩,理论结果与实验结果吻合,计算结果表明微粒主要以滚动机理从孔壁脱落。

Biofilm formation in clinical isolates of nosocomial Acinetobacter baumannii and its relationship with multidrug resistance

Objective: To check biofilm formation by Acinetobacter baumannii(A. baumannii)clinical isolates and show their susceptibility to different antibiotics and investigate a possible link between establishment of biofilm and multidrug ***: This study was performed on clinical samples collected from patients with nosocomial infections in three hospitals of Tehran. Samples were initially screened by culture and biochemical tests for the presence of different species of Acinetobacter. Identifications were further confirmed by PCR assays. Their susceptibilities to 11 antibiotics of different classes were determined by disc diffusion method according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. The ability to produce biofilm was investigated using methods: culture on Congo red agar, microtiter plate, and test tube ***: From the overall clinical samples, 156 specimens were confirmed to contain A. baumannii. The bacteria were highly resistant to most antibiotics except polymyxin *** these isolates, 10.26% were able to produce biofilms as shown on Congo red ***, the percentage of bacteria with positive biofilm in test tube, standard microtiter plate, and modified microtiter plate assays were 48.72%, 66.66%, and 73.72%, respectively. At least 92% of the biofilm forming isolates were multidrug ***: Since most of the multidrug resistant strains produce biofilm, it seems necessary to provide continuous monitoring and determination of antibiotic susceptibility of clinical A. baumannii. This would help to select the most appropriate antibiotic for treatment.

Foam flooding using CO_(2)has emerged as a promising method for both enhanced oil recovery(EOR)and the storage of CO_(2)in geological *** study conducts a thorough analysis of the behavior of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams in bulk and porous media,utilizing bubble-scale analyses and foam flooding *** study compares the foamability and longevity of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams,with findings indicating that N_(2)foam bubbles tend to be smaller and less varied in size than CO_(2)foam bubbles,leading to increased foam ***,the study compares the half-lives of CO_(2)and N_(2)foams generated through sparging and winding methods,showing that N_(2)foam has half-lives 22 and 10 times greater than CO_(2)foam when produced using the sparging and winding methods,***,CO_(2)foam generated through the sparging method had a lower foaming volume than N_(2)foam due to CO_(2)'s *** the foam flooding experiments,N_(2)foam proved more effective in recovering oil from porous media than CO_(2)foam,thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the foam injection *** results offer valuable insights into the differing performance of N_(2)and CO_(2)foam floods for EOR and CO_(2)geological storage.

Automatic determination of MS lesion subtypes based on fractal analysis in brain MR images

In this paper a novel approach based on fractal analysis has been proposed to determine MS lesions into two subtypes (i.e., Enhancing lesions (Acute), T1 “black holes” (chronic) lesions) in Fluid Attenuated Inversion Recovery (FLAIR) MR images, automatically. In the proposed method, firstly, MS lesion voxels are segmented in FLAIR images using Entropy-Based EM Algorithm and Markov Random Field (MRF) model. Then, Fractal dimension of each lesion voxel is computed in FLAIR images and used with signal intensity features (T1-weighted, gadolinium enhanced T1-weighted, T2-weighted). Finally, a neural network classifier is applied to feature vectors. Evaluation of the proposed method was performed by manual segmentation of chronic and acute lesions in gadolinium enhanced T1-weighted (Gad-E-T1-w) images by studying T1-weighted (T1-w) and T2-weighted (T2-w) images, using similarity criteria. The results showed a good correlation between the lesions segmented by the proposed method and by experts manually. Thus, the suggested method is useful to reduce the need for paramagnetic materials in contrast enhanced MR imaging which is a routine procedure for separation of acute and chronic lesions.

Zolpidem-Induced Narcolepsy, Faint, Seizure or Coma? A Case Report

Zolpidem, as an imidazopyridine agent, is a widely prescribed drug among practitioners for short-term treatment of insomnia. Nevertheless, there have been a number of cases associated with the adverse effects of the stated drug recently. Many cases of serious complications induced by high dose of zolpidem have been reported. Further to the existing reports of adverse reactions to zolpidem, throughout the current manuscript, another case of zolpidem-induced loss of consciousness is going to be presented. The case had taken 100 mg of zolpidem and afterwards, went into an unknown status of narcolepsy, faint, seizure or transient coma. Overdosing zolpidem and being affected by its central effects, he performed risky actions such as cooking by a gas oven and eating meal while intoxicated. The current case suggests that zolpidem overdose might contribute to loss of consciousness and exhibition of high-risk behaviors.

Bale Density and Moisture Content Effects on the Losses of Baled Alfalfa

In order to reduce alfalfa losses, the effect of bale density and alfalfa moisture content on the losses of baled alfalfa during the baling and transportation process was determined in this study. Three ranges of moisture content including 14%-17%, 17% -20%, and 20%-23% （wb） were considered in this study. Bale densities considered in this research were 110-120, 120-130, 130-140, and 140-150 kg/m3. The study was conducted in the form of a split-plot experimental design with three replications and a small rectangular baler was used to bale the second cut alfalfa. Alfalfa losses were measured in the pickup system and compression chamber of baler and losses were separated to stems and leaves. Alfalfa losses were also determined during the bale transportation process. Results showed that alfalfa moisture content had significant effect on the leaf and stem losses of the baler pickup system and alfalfa losses during the transportation process while; leaf and stem losses of baler compression chamber were not affected by alfalfa moisture content. Results also revealed that the bale density had no significant effect on the leaf and stem losses of the baler pickup system and alfalfa losses during the transportation process but leaf and stem losses of baler compression chamber were significantly affected by the bale density.
