Evaluation of biological control agents for mosquitoes control in artificial breeding places

Objective:To evaluate the entomological impact of chlorpyrifos-methyl,Bacillus thuringiensis, and Gambusia affinis on mosquitoes control in artificial breeding ***:A Latin square design with 4 replicates was performed in order to evaluate the efficacy of chlorpyrifosmethyl, Bacillus thuringiensis,and Gambusia affinis on *** larvicide was applied at the dosage of 100 mg a.h/ha,Bacillus thuringiensis at the recommended dosage and 10 fishes per m^2 were applied at 1×1 m^2 artificial breeding *** larval densities for both anopheline and culicine were counted according to larvae /10 dippers prior and 24 h after ***: All three control agents are effective for mosquito density reduction,and the difference between the three agents and the control is significant(P<0.05).There is also significant difference among chlorpyrifos-methyl,Bacillus thuringiensis and Gambusia *** thuringiensis exhibited more reduction on mosquito larval density than fish and larvicide(P<0.05).Conclusions: Bacillus thuringiensis in comparison with two other agents is the appropriate method for larviciding in the breeding *** long term assessing for biological activities as well as monitoring and mapping of resistance is required.

Objective:To determine the sand flies species responsible for most transmission of Leishmania major(L major) to human,as well as to determine the main reservoir hosts of the disease. Methods:Sand flies were collected using sticky papers and mounted in Puri’s medium for species *** were trapped by live Sherman *** sand flies and rodents were subjected to molecular methods for detection of leishmanial ***:Phlebotomus papatasi(***) was the common species in outdoor and indoor resting *** PCR technique only three specimens of 150 ***(2%) were found naturally infected by parasites with a band of 350 bp which is equal to the L major *** six rodents were captured by Sherman traps and *** investigation on blood smear of the animals for amastigote parasites revealed 1(3.22%) infected Meriones libycus(***). Infection of this animal to *** was confirmed by PCR against rDNA loci of the parasite. Conclusions:This is the first molecular report of parasite infection of both vector(***) and reservoir(***) to L major in the *** results indicated that *** was the primary vector of the disease and circulating the parasite between human and reservoirs and M. libycus was the most important host reservoir for maintenance of the parasite source in the area.

Objective:To investigate the larvicidai activity of essential oil and methanol extract of the Nepeta menthoides（***） against main malaria vector,Anopheles stephensi（An. stephensi）.Methods:The essential oil of planl was obtained by Clevenger type apparatus and the methanol extract was supplied with Percolation method,larvicidai activity was tested by WHO *** five fourth-instar larvae of *** were used in the larvicidai assay and four replicates were tested for each *** different concentrations of the oil and extract were tested for calculation of LC50 and LC50 ***:The LC50 and LC90 values were determined by probit ***50 was 69.5 and 234.3 ppm and LC50 was 175.5 and 419.9 ppm for the extract and essential oil ***:According to the results of this study methanolic extract of plant exhibited more larvicidai activity than essential *** could be useful for investigation of new natural larvicidai compounds.

In previous studies,Periaqueductal Gray(PAG)stimulation was used to stop ratbots from *** to the homology between the PAG and the intercollicular nucleus,which has been used for forward movement in birds,we investigated the possibility of PAG application to induce forward locomotion for the first *** a corridor maze,the traveled distances via PAG electrical stimulation were examined in nine Wistar male rats during three sessions.A custom-designed stimulator was developed to apply the *** results showed reductions in responses to stimulation over ***,the traveled distances had negative slopes during the consecutive trials(in 8 out of the 9 rats),and the slope mean was significantly different from *** was a strong correlation between the stimulation parameters(electric Charge per Phase(CPP)and the Number of Pulses(NP))and the observed *** negative Movement Slopes(MS)were highly correlated with the CPP and the NP,as the Pearson's linear correlation coefficients were−0.87 and−0.79,*** MS-CPP coefficients of determination(R-squared)were also between 0.76 and *** addition,the MS-NP coefficients of determination were between 0.63 and ***,it is concluded that the electrical stimulation parameters influence the behavioral outcomes ***,the PAG area may be considered a suitable candidate for forward locomotion control in the future if the area is harnessed effectively to prevent undesirable chaotic behaviors.

Objective:To determine phytochemistry and larvicidal activity of Eucalyptus eamaldulensis against Anopheles ***:The chemical compositions of the leaf essential oils were analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry（GC/MS）.The larvicidal activity of essential oils and extract of leaf were tested against 4th instar larvae of laboratory-reared Anopheles ***:GC/MS analyses identified the presence of 28 compounds corresponding to 99.60%of the total *** main constituents in the leaf essential oil were 1,8-cineole（69.46%）,γ-Terpinene（15.10%）,α-Pinene（5.47%） and Globulol（2%）.The leaf extract and volatile oil exerted significant larvicidal activity with LC50 values of 89.85 and 397.75 ppm,*** dose-response relationships were established with the highest dose of 320 ppm essential oil extract resulted almost 100%mortality in the ***:The larvicidal properties suggest that the essential oil of plant is a potential source of valuable larvicidal compounds against malaria vector and can be used as an alternative to synthetic insecticides.

In the present work,plastic deformation mechanisms were initially tailored by adjusting the deformation temperature in the range of 0 to 200℃ in AISI 304L austenitic stainless steel,aiming to optimize the strength-ductility *** was shown that the combined twinning-induced plasticity(TWIP)/transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP)effects and a wider strain range for the TRIP effect up to higher strains by adjusting the deformation temperature are good strategies to improve the strength-ductility synergy of this metastable stainless *** this regard,by consideration of the observed temperature-dependency of plastic deformation,the controlled sequence of TWIP and TRIP effects for archiving superior strength-ductility trade-off was intended by the pre-designed temperature jump tensile ***,the optimum tensile toughness of 846 MJ/m^(3) and total elongation to 133% were obtained by this strategy via exploiting the advantages of the TWIP effect at 100℃ and the TRIP effect at 25℃ at the later stages of the ***,a deformation-temperature-transformation(DTT)diagram was developed for this metastable ***,based on work-hardening analysis,it was found that the main phenomenon constraining further improvement in the ductility and strengthening was the yielding of the deformation-induced α′-martensite.

In this paper, a photonic crystal fiber(PCF) with a dispersion-engineered and high nonlinear coefficient has been designed for supercontinuum generation(SCG) and frequency comb generation(FCG). The proposed PCF has a Si_(3)N_(4) rod in the core. This rod provides more optical confinement in the core by increasing the refractive index of the core. This high confinement reduces the effective mode area of PCF and thus increases the nonlinear coefficient.

Improvement of Surface Mechanical and Tribological Characteristics of L-PBF Processed Commercially Pure Titanium through Ultrasonic Impact Treatment

Multi-pass ultrasonic impact treatment(UIT)was applied to modify the microstructure and improve the mechanical and tribological characteristics at the near-surface region of commercially pure Ti(CP-Ti)specimens produced by the laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)*** considerably refined the L-PBF process-related acicular martensites(α′-M)and produced a well-homogenized and dense surface microstructure,where the porosity content of 1-,3-,and 5-pass UITed samples was reduced by 43,60,and 67%,*** UITed samples showed an enhancement in their near-surface mechanical properties up to a depth of about 300μ*** nanoindentation results for the 3-pass UITed sample revealed an increase of about 53,45,and 220%in its nanohardness,H/E_(r),and H_(3)/E_(r)^(2)indices,*** stylus profilometry results showed that performing the UIT removed the L-PBF-related features/defects and offered a smooth *** roughness average(R_(a))and the skewness(R_(sk))of the 3-pass UITed sample were found to be lower than those of the L-PBFed sample by 95 and 223%,*** the UIT also enhanced the material ratio,where the maximum load-bearing capacity(~100%)in as-L-PBFed(as-built)and 3-pass UITed samples was obtained at 60-and 10-µm depths,*** tribological investigations showed that applying the UIT resulted in a significant reduction of wear rate and average coefficient of friction(COF)of *** instance,under the normal pressures of 0.05 and 0.2 MPa,the wear rate and COF of the 3-pass UITed sample were lower than those of the L-PBFed sample by 65 and 58%,and 20 and 17%,respectively.
