Naturally occurring Trichogramma species in olive farms in Egypt

A survey of two-year studies (2001—2003) was carried out in two olive grovessited at two representative olive growing areas, namely Paradise Park (arid area) and Burg El-Arabfarm (semi-arid area) to monitor the frequency of endemic Trichogramma species on olive moth (Praysoleae) and jasmine moth (Palpita unionalis). The suspended host bait traps were found to be a morepractical and effective tool for collecting Trichogramma wasps than the attached ones. Fournaturally occurring Trichogramma species were collected for the first time in Egypt from the olivegroves, where releases have never been conducted. T. bourarachae was collected exclusively from BurgEl-Arab farm. It seems that this wasp species adapts well to the semi-arid area. Three species,namely T. cordubensis, T. nr. pretiosum and T. cacociae were isolated from Paradise Park farm. Allof these wasps were also bred from naturally parasitized host eggs during favorable and even atunfavorable temperature conditions of June-August. However, these endemic species did not occurnaturally in sufficient numbers to keep the pest populations from reaching damaging levels. Theexcessive usage of insecticides and the oophagous predators (e.g., ants and lacewing larvae) aresome factors that affect the performance of Trichogramma wasps in olive farms. The presence of warmweather wasp strains suggests the existence of well-adapted wasp species or strains which may beappropriate candidates for the control of target pests in olive groves. Additional study is requiredto determine the best 'habitat-specific' species/ strains of Trichogramma for augmentative releaseof naturally occurring wasps and to incorporate them into integrated pest management *** should be made to conserve these endemic species from oophagous predators, hot weather andinsecticides. The olive and jasmine moth-larvae and pupae found under tree canopies were bred andemerged parasitoids were listed.

Nuclear radiation shielding effectiveness and corrosion behavior of some steel alloys for nuclear reactor systems

Different types of nuclear parameters and corrosion behavior were deduced for carbon steel(AISI 1018),austenitic(304 SS),and duplex(2507 SS)stainless steel *** types of neutron energies as well as nine gamma ray energy lines(121.78-1407.92 keV)were used to evaluate the macroscopic neutron cross-sections(∑,cm^-1)and mass attenuation coefficients[σ,cm^2·g^-1)of gamma ray *** corrosion behavior was investigated using different electrochemical *** results showed that the stainless-steel alloys had a good attitude than that of carbon steel alloy for neutron and gamma ray parameters,especially the duplex stainless *** calculated values of mass attenuation coefficient using WinXcom computer program(Version 3.1),exhibited a very good agreement with the experimental values of that ***,the results indicated that duplex stainless-steel exhibited corrosion resistance higher than 304 SS and AISI 1018 steel alloys.

Safety and efficacy of tramadol hydrochloride on treatment of premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation （PE） is the most common sexual disorder. It affects 20%-30% of adult men; the aetiology of this condition has not yet been elucidated. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability, undesirable effects and improved satisfaction with sexual intercourse with tramadol hydrochloride at different dosages for the treatment of PE. A total of 300 patients who presented with lifelong （primary） PE were included in this study. The study was performed for 28 weeks, in which placebo （starch tablet） was given for 4 weeks, and active ingredient （tramadol hydrochloride） was administered at different therapeutic dosages for 24 weeks. Patients were divided into three equal groups, each consisting of 100 patients. The first group （A） was given tramadol hydrochloride capsule 25 mg. The second group （B） was given tramadol hydrochloride capsule 50 mg. The third group （C） was given tramadol hydrochloride capsule 100 mg. All of the 300 participants included completed the study voluntarily. The age of the patients varied from 25 to 50 years. After the treatment period, the recorded data were collected for each group and analysed. The results showed a highly significant increase in the mean intravaginal ejaculatory latency time （IELT） in all groups compared to baseline data （P〈0.0001）. We concluded that using tramadol hydrochloride at different doses on demand for the treatment of PE is effective, safe and tolerable, with minimal undesirable effects, and approval for this indication should be souRht.

Estimation of Hourly and Daily Global Solar Radiation at Clear Days Using an Approach Based on Modified Version of Gaussian Distribution

The performance of two models,Jam and Baig,based on the modified version of Gaussian distribution function in estimating the daily total of global solar radiation and its distribution through the hours of the day from sunrise to sunset al any clear day is evaluated with our own measured data in the period from June 1992 to May 1993 in Qena Egypt The results show a high relative deviation of calculated values from measured ones,especially for Jain model,in the most hours of the day,except for those near to local *** misfit behavior is quite obvious in the early morning and late afternoon A new approach has been proposed in this paper to estimate the daily and hourly global solar radiation This model performs with very high accuracy on the recorded data in our *** validity of this approach was verified with new measurements in some clear days in June and August *** resultant very low relative deviation of the calculated values of global solar radiation from the measured ones confirms the high performance of the approach proposed in this work

采用３种不同切碎方法，即锤片切碎、螺旋刀切碎和直刃刀切碎进行了棉秆切碎的性能研究。试验结果表明，直刃刀对青棉秆的一次切碎，能获得细小颗粒产量高、能耗低的满意效果。切碎物料在英国Ｓｈｉｍａｄａ螺旋压缩机上进行热压成型试验。成型燃料质量指标的测定结果表明，切碎物料含水率在８％～１２％，加热温度在１２０～１５０℃，最大粒度控制在１２．５ｍｍ以下，能获得密度为１．１３～１．２１ｇ／ｃｍ３、低位热值为１８．３４ＭＪ／ｋｇ的优质棉秆成型燃料。

Sequence Stratigraphy and Rudist Facies Development of the Upper Barremian-Lower Cenomanian Platform, Northern Sinai, Egypt

The Lower Cretaceous sections in northern Sinai are composed of the Risan Aneiza(upper Barremian-middle Albian) and the Halal(middle Albian-lower Cenomanian) formations. The facies reflect subtle paleobathymetry from inner to outer ramp facies. The inner ramp facies are peritidal, protected to open marine lagoons, shoals and rudist biostrome facies. The inner ramp facies grade northward into outer ramp deposits. The upper Barremian-lower Cenomanian succession is subdivided into nine depositional sequences correlated with those recognized in the neighbouring Tethyan areas. These sequences are subdivided into 19 medium-scale sequences based on the facies evolution, the recorded hardgrounds and flooding surfaces, interpreted as the result of eustatic sea level changes and local tectonic activities of the early Syrian Arc rifting stage. Each sequence contains a lower retrogradational parasequence set that constituted the transgressive systems tracts and an upper progradational parasequence set that formed the highstand systems tracts. Nine rudist levels are recorded in the upper Barremian through lower Cenomanian succession at Gabal Raghawi. At Gabal Yelleg two rudist levels are found in the Albian. The rudist levels are associated with the highstand systems tract deposits because of the suitability of the trophic conditions in the rudist-dominated ramp.

Influence of host age and host deprivation on longevity, egg load dynamics and oviposition rate in Microplitis rufiventris

Adult size, longevity, egg load dynamics and oviposition ofMicroplitis rufiventris Kok. which began their development in the first, second, third （preferred hosts） or fourth （non-preferred hosts） instar larvae of Spodoptera littoralis （Boisd.） were studied. The parasitoid size was largely determined by the initial host size at parasitism. Non-ovipositing females derived from older hosts lived for longer periods than those derived from younger ones. However, the ovipositing females, irrespective of their size, lived for almost the same periods. At emergence, the oviducts of adult females contain a significant amount of mature eggs available for oviposition for a few hours on eclosion day. Egg load increases during the early phase of adult life. The amount of additional mature eggs and rate of egg maturation per hour was greater for wasps derived from preferred hosts compared with those in females derived from non-preferred hosts. The pattern of egg production in M. rufiventris females depended on the availability of hosts for parasitization. Host-deprived females depleted the egg complement with aging; the longer the host deprivation, the lower the oviduct egg load. Marked reduction in both realized or potential fecundity of host-deprived females was observed following host availability. Host privation for more than 3 days induced a marked deficit fecundity pattern through the female＇ s life. The realized fecundity was determined by the interaction among host availability, the number of eggs that are matured over the female＇ s life span, oviposition rate and host size from which the female was derived. These results suggest that：（i） M. rufiventris wasp is a weak synovigenic species; （ii） the maturation of additional eggs is inhibited once the maximum oviduct egg load is reached; （iii） the egg load of the newly emerged female is significantly less than the realized fecundity; and （iv） because M. rufiventris females oviposit fewer eggs when they begin depleting their

Safety of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide:an electrophysiologic and histopathological study in rabbits

AIM:To evaluate the retinal safety of various doses of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide(TA)in ***:Thirty New Zealand albino rabbits were divided into five groups(six animals each).In group 1(control group),each animal received a single intravitreal injection of 0.1 mL phosphate buffered *** groups2,3,4 and 5,each rabbit received a single intravitreal injection of 4,8,16 and 32mg of TA,*** dose was contained in 0.1 mL phosphate buffered *** ocular examinations were performed before the injection and on the 1st,3rd,10th and 17th postinjection days.A standard dark adapted electroretinogram(ERG)was obtained before injection and on the 3rd,10th and 17th post-injection ***17d,animals were sacrificed and their eyes prepared for pathological ***:By monitoring ERG as a functional index for the retina,intravitreal injection of 4mg TA showed no significant ERG *** doses of 8,16 and 32,hyper-abnormal responses in a-and b-waves of ERG were detected on the 3rd post-injection *** changes gradually returned back to normal limits *** examination of the retina of all animals showed no pathological ***:High doses of intravitreal TA seemed to have enhancing effects on the retinal function with gradual return to normal limits with no pathological changes detected in examined eyes.

The kinetics of Cu ion exchange on Na-montmorillonite clay mineral has been investigated at three temperatures, in three solvents: H2O, ethylene glycol and glycerol. Solvent effects on the reaction rate have been discussed. The thermodynamic activation parameters were calculated and discussed in terms of solvation effects. The determined isokinetic temperature indicates that the reaction is enthalpy controlled where the interaction between solvent and clay surface plays an important role. A reaction mechanism which describes the solvent effect on the rate of Cu ion exchange is proposed.

Moroccan medicinal plants exhibit several pharmacological properties such as antimicrobial,anticancer,antidiabetic,analgesic,and anti-inflammatory effects,which are related to the presence of numerous bioactive compounds,including phenolic acids,flavonoids,and *** the present review,we systematically evaluate previously published reports on the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Moroccan medicinal *** in vitro investigations revealed that Moroccan medicinal plants inhibit several enzymes related to inflammatory processes,whereas in vivo studies noted significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects as demonstrated using different experimental *** bioactive compounds exhibiting in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects,with diverse mechanisms of action,have been *** plants and their bioactive compounds reveal specific secondary metabolites that possess important anti-inflammatory effects in clinical *** review proposes the potential applications of Moroccan medicinal plants as sources of anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents.
