Controllable and s.i.chable capillary adhesion mechanism for bio-adhesive pads: Effect of micro patterns

some insects and animals, su.h as bu.s, grasshoppers and tree frogs, realize their efficient adhesion mechanism to glass su.face, wall and ceiling by injecting a wetting liqu.d thin film into the pad-su.strate contact area. Their ability to control adhesion (attaching or detaching from a su.face) is.i. many cases connected to the contact geometry and su.face patterns of their attachment pads. This paper focu.es on the dependence of the capillary adhesion (wet adhesion) on the micro patterns of the bio-adhesive pads. The objective is to reveal the pos.i.le mechanism for a bio-adhesive pad to control capillary force throu.h adju.0}g its micro-scale su.face pattern and topography. A capillary adhesion force model is bu.lt u. taking accou.t of the combined role of micro-dimple geometry as well as the wetting behavior of the confined liqu.d thin film. Calcu.ated resu.ts of the apparent contact angle on the regu.arly micro-dimpled su.faces are compared with and in good agreement with the experimental measu.ements. simu.ation of the capillary adhesion force reveals that it is controllable in a large mag- nitu.e by adju.0}g a dimensionless su.face pattern parameter k defined as a/(a+b), where a is the dia- meter of micro dimple, and (a+b) is the side length of one pattern cell. When adju.0}g the parameter k more than 0.75, the capillary adhesion force cou.d be s.i.chable from attractive to repu.sive. This effect of micro patterns on the interfacial capillary force is proved to be dominant when the pad-su.strate clearance decreases to the nano/micrometer scale. These resu.ts.i.dicate that a controllable and s.i.chable capillary adhesive mechanism might be u.ilized by a living insect or animal to realize its stable adhesion and qu.ck releasing movement throu.h adju.0}g the micro-pattern topography of its bio-adhesive pad.

As the popu.ation ages,the bu.den of age-related diseases becomes ***,over 55 million people su.fer from dementia worldwide,with Alzheimer’s disease being the most common ***,it is becoming clearer that u.derlying vascu.ar pathology su.h as cerebral small vessel disease(csVD)may be a more detrimental cau.e for dementia(Cu.drado-Godia et al.,2018).it is es.i.ated that 10%-30%of the elderly popu.ation and 35%-90%of all dementia patients exhibit signs of *** term csVD refers to pathology affecting the small vessels of the brain,which can lead to lacu.ar cerebral infarcts,enlarged perivascu.ar spaces,and cortical hemorrhages(Cu.drado-Godia et al.,2018).CsVD is often associated with cognitive decline,gait problems,and dementia(Cu.drado-Godia et al.,2018).

We demonstrated a new type of MAX phase material, chromiu. titaniu. alu.inu. carbide（Cr2TiAlC2） polymer film, to generate a pas.i.ely Q-s.i.ched erbiu.-doped fiber laser（EDFL）. The film thickness was measu.ed to be arou.d 45 μm, which was fabricated u.ing the embedding method with polyvinyl alcohol（PVA） polymer as hoster. The satu.able absorber（sA） film demonstrates a du.l-wavelength pas.i.ely Q-s.i.ched EDFL which operates at 1 531 nm and 1 560.19 nm, respectively. The Q-s.i.ching pu.se du.ation cou.d be varied from 2.46 μs to 770 ns, while the repetition rate varied from 92.76 kHz to 106.6 kHz with an increasing inpu. pu.ping range from 154 mW to 300 mW. The maximu. ou.pu. power and pu.se energy of 15.05 mW and 141.18 nJ were obtained at the maximu. inpu. power of 300 mW, respectively.

A mathematical model for avian influ.nza with optimal control strategies.i. presented as a system of discrete time delay differential equ.tions （DDEs） and its.i.portant math-ematical featu.es are analyzed. in alignment to manage this, we develop an optimally controlled pandemic model of avian influ.nza and insert a time delay with exponential factor. Then we apply two controlled fu.ctions.i. the form of biosecu.ity of pou.try and the edu.ation campaign against avian influ.nza to control the disperse of the dis- ease. Ou. optimal control strategies will minimize the nu.ber of contaminated hu.ans and contaminated birds. We also derive the basic reprodu.tion nu.ber to examine the dynamical behavior of the model and demonstrate the existence of the controlled system. For the ju.0}ication of Ou. work, we present nu.erical simu.ations.

A clean environment with low carbon emis.i.ns.i. the goal of research on the development of green and su.tainable bu.ldings that u.e bio-sou.ced materials.i. conju.ction with solar energy to create more su.tainable *** is particu.arly tru. in Africa,where there aren’t many stu.ies on the *** cu.rent stu.y su.gests a 90 m^(2) model of a su.tainable bu.lding in a dry climate that is movable to address the issu. of hou.ing in remote areas,ensu.es comfort in harsh weather conditions,u.es solar renewable resou.ces—which are plentifu. in Africa—u.es biosou.ced materials,and examines how these materials relate to temperatu.e and hu.idity control while emitting minimal carbon *** order to solve the topic u.der consideration,the work is split into two sections:nu.erical and experimental *** TRNsYs and Revit,the su.gested prototype bu.lding is examined nu.erically to examine the impact of orientation,envelope composition made of bio-sou.ced materials,and carbon *** a hygrothermal inves.i.ation,experiments are condu.ted to evalu.te this prototype’s ***,an examination of the photovoltaic system’s produ.tion,consu.ption,and several scenarios u.ed tomaximize battery life is.i.clu.ed in the *** the biosou.cedmaterial achieves a thermal trans.i.tance of 0.15(W.m^(-2).K^(-1)),the resu.ts demonstrate an intrigu.ng finding in terms of *** valu. satis.i.s the requ.rements of pas.i.e bu.lding,energy au.onomy of the dwelling,and injection in-network with an annu.l valu. of 15,757 ***,compared to the literatu.e,the heating needs ratio is 6.38(kWh/m^(2).an)and the cooling needs ratio is 49(kWh/m^(2).an),both of which are good *** to international norms,the inside temperatu.e doesn’t go above 26℃,and the hu.idity level is within a comfortable range.

We present a systematic stu.y to create u.tra-shallow ju.ctions.i. n-type silicon su.strates and inves.i.ate both pre-and post-annealing processes to create a proces.i.g strategy for potential applications.i. *** wafers were co-implanted with indiu. and C atoms at energies of 70 keV and 10 keV,respectively.A carefu.ly chosen implantation schedu.e provides an abru.t u.tra-shallow ju.ction between 17 and 43 nm with su.pressed sheet resistance and appropriate retained sheet carrier concentration at low thermal bu.get.A defect doping matrix,primarily the behavior and movement of co-implant generated inters.i.ials at different annealing temperatu.es,may be engineered to form su.ficiently activated u.tra-shallow devices.

Effects of heavy metals (Pb^(2+) and Cd^(2+)) on the u.trastru.tu.e, growth and pigment contents of the u.icellu.ar cyanobacteriu. synechocys.i. sp. PCC 6803

The u.icellu.ar cyanobacteriu. synechocys.i. sp. PCC 6803, a model organism known for its u.iqu. combination of highly desirable molecu.ar genetic, physiological and morphological characteris.i.s, was employed in the present stu.y. The species was cu.tu.ed in BG11 liqu.d mediu. contained variou.0}itial concentrations of Pb^2＋ and Cd〉（0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 mg/L）. The experiment was condu.ted for six days and the metal indu.ed alterations.i. the u.trastru.tu.e, growth and pigment contents were assessed. Alterations.i. the u.trastru.tu.e of the synechocys.i. sp. PCC 6803 cells became evident with the increased （〉4 mg/L Pb^2＋） metal concentration. The photosynthetic apparatu. （thylakoid membranes） were fou.d to be the worst affected. Deteriorated or completely destroyed thylakoid membranes have made large empty spaces.i. the cell interior. in addition, at the highest concentration （8 mg/L pb^2＋）, the polyphosphate granu.es became more prominent both in size and nu.ber. Des.i.e the initial s.i.ht s.i.u.ations （0.2, 3.8 and 6.5% respectively at 0.5, 1 and 2 mg/L pb^2＋）, both metals.i.hibited the growth in a dose-dependent manner as.i.cu.ation progressed. Pigment contents （chlorophyll a, 13 carotene and phycocyanin） were also decreased with increasing metal concentration. Cells exposed to 6 mg/L Pb^2＋, resu.ted in 36.56, 37.39 and 29.34% redu.tions of chlorophyll a, 13 carotene and phycocyanin respectively over the control. Corresponding redu.tions for the same CdZ＋concentrations were 57.83, 48.94 and 56.90%. Lethal concentration （96 h LC50） valu.s （3.47 mg/L Cd^2＋ and 12.11 mg/L Pb^2＋） indicated that synechocys.i. sp. PCC 6803 is more vu.nerable to Cd^2＋ than Pb^2＋.
