Low crude protein formulation with supplemental amino acids for its impacts on intestinal health and growth performance of growing-finishing pigs

Background Low crude protein(Cp)formulations with supplemental amino acids(AA)are used to enhance intestinal health,reduce costs,minimize environmental impact,and maintain growth performance of ***,extensive reduction of dietary Cp can compromise growth performance due to limited synthesis of non-essential AA and limited availability of bioactive compounds from protein supplements even when AA requirements are ***,implementing a low Cp formulation can increase the net energy(NE)content in feeds causing excessive fat *** supplementation of functional AA,coupled with low Cp formulation could further enhance intestinal health and glucose metabolism,improving nitrogen utilization,and growth *** experiments were conducted to evaluate the effects of low Cp formulations with supplemental AA on the intestinal health and growth performance of growing-finishing *** In Exp.1,90 pigs(19.7±1.1 kg,45 barrows and 45 gilts)were assigned to 3 treatments:CON(18.0%Cp,supplementing Lys,met,and Thr),LCp(16.0%Cp,supplementing Lys,met,Thr,Trp,and Val),and LCpT(16.1%Cp,LCp+0.05%SID Trp).In Exp.2,72 pigs(34.2±4.2 kg BW)were assigned to 3 treatments:CON(17.7%Cp,meeting the requirements of Lys,met,Thr,and Trp);LCp(15.0%Cp,meeting Lys,Thr,Trp,met,Val,Ile,and phe);and VLCp(12.8%Cp,meeting Lys,Thr,Trp,met,Val,Ile,phe,His,and Leu).In Exp.3,72 pigs(54.1±5.9 kg BW)were assigned to 3 treatments and fed experimental diets for 3 phases(grower 2,finishing 1,and finishing 2).Treatments were CON(18.0%,13.8%,12.7%Cp for 3 phases;meeting Lys,met,Thr,and Trp);LCp(13.5%,11.4%,10.4%Cp for 3 phases;meeting Lys,Thr,Trp,met,Val,Ile,and phe);and LCpG(14.1%,12.8%,11.1%Cp for 3 phases;LCp+Glu to match SID Glu with CON).All diets had 2.6 mcal/kg *** In Exp.1,overall,the growth performance did not differ among *** LCpT increased(ppression in the duodenum and *** LCp and LCpT increased(pp

Background Xylanase and β-glucanase combination(XG) hydrolyzes soluble non-starch polysaccharides that are anti-nutritional compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of increasing levels of XG on intestinal health and growth performance of nursery *** Forty pigs(6.5 ± 0.4 kg) were assigned to 5 dietary treatments and fed for 35 d in 3 phases(11, 9, and 15 d, respectively). Basal diets mainly included corn, soybean meal, and corn distiller's dried grains with solubles, contained phytase(750 FTU/kg), and were supplemented with 5 levels of XG at(1) 0,(2) 280 TXU/kg xylanase and 125 TGU/kg β-glucanase,(3) 560 and 250,(4) 840 and 375, or(5) 1,120 and 500, respectively. Growth performance was measured. On d 35, all pigs were euthanized and jejunal mucosa, jejunal digesta, jejunal tissues, and ileal digesta were collected to determine the effects of increasing XG levels and XG intake on intestinal *** Increasing XG intake tended to quadratically decrease(p = 0.059) viscosity of jejunal digesta(min: 1.74 m pa·s at 751/335(TXU/TGU)/kg). Increasing levels of XG quadratically decreased(p prevotellaceae(min: 0.6% at 630/281(TXU/TGU)/kg) in the jejunal mucosa. Increasing XG intake quadratically increased(p max: 40.3% at 608/271(TXU/TGU)/kg) in the jejunal mucosa. Increasing XG intake quadratically decreased(p min: 1.6% at 560/250(TXU/TGU)/kg) in the jejunal mucosa. Increasing levels of XG tended to linearly decrease(p = 0.073) jejunal Ig G and tended to quadratically increase(p = 0.085) jejunal villus height to crypt depth ratio(max: 2.62 at 560/250(TXU/TGU)/kg). The winemaking process involves the genera- tion of a significant amount of waste and wastewater. These residues should be addressed for recycling or treatment before being returned to environment. As each winery is unique in waste generation and disposal, plans for environmentally friendly waste management are not universal and should be tested for their effectiveness. In this study, a diagnostic was made during three years, in different wineries, throughout portugal, in order to quantify and characterize the waste and the wastewater produced. The results showed that solid waste and wastewater are mainly produced during the harvest period, corresponding to 74% and 87%, respectively. One ton of processed grape approximately produce 0.13 t marc, 0.06 t lees, 0.03 t of stalks and 1.65 m3 of wastewater. No significant differences （p≤0.05） were observed for grape marc, lees and wastewater ratios, between years or wineries. With respect to the stalk ratio, there was no effect of year but the winery significantly affected this ratio （p ≤ 0.05）. During the study period the treated wastewater, since diluted, revealed suitable characteristics for irrigation representing an additional source of water. In this regard, the data acquisition and consolidation ensure the transfer of information and experience which constitute an essential step in a support decision tool design.

This paper aims to systematically investigate the cataracting-centrifuging transition in a rotary drum involving spherical and nonspherical particles by using the multiphase Granular Eulerian model(mGEm).The effects of drum length and particle shape on the cataracting-centrifuging transition behavior were *** results showed that drum length plays an important role in the cataracting-centrifuging transition,although most related works in the literature do not consider *** particle shape also significantly affects the cataracting-centrifuging transition *** particles required lower rotation speeds than spherical particles to reach the centrifuging *** particle shape was shown to be related to the critical solid fraction(asc)from Schaeffer’s model,although further investigations are required to completely correlate particle spherecity with critical solid volume fractions.

Background:Whey permeate is an effective lactose source for nursery pigs and the most benefits are obtained when pigs are at 7 to 11 kg *** weaning ages could cause different length of early-weaner phases until 7 kg BW and thus it would influence the dietary need of whey permeate during 7 to 11 kg BW of *** study aimed to evaluate if weaning ages would affect the dietary needs of whey permeate for optimum growth performance of pigs at 7 to 11 kg ***:A total of 1,632 pigs were weaned at d 21(d 21.2±1.3)or d 25(d 24.6±1.1)after *** pigs had a common early-weaner feeds until they reached 7 kg *** pigs reached 7 kg BW within a weaning age group,they were allotted in a randomized complete block design(2×4 factorial).Two factors were weaning age groups(21 and 25 d of age)and varying whey permeate levels(7.50%,11.25%,15.00%,and 18.75%).Data were analyzed using the GLm and NLIN procedures of SAS for slope-ratio and broken-line analyses to determine the growth response to whey permeate and optimal daily whey permeate intake for the growth of the pigs weaned at different ***:pigs weaned at 21 d of age had a common diet for 11 d to reach 7 kg BW whereas pigs weaned at 25 d of age needed 2 *** G:F of pigs weaned at 25 d of age responded to increased daily whey permeate intake greater(ppigs weaned at 21 d of *** were obtained(ppermeate intake or 17.0%and 14.4%of whey permeate for G:F of pigs weaned at 21 and 25 d of age,***:pigs weaned at an older age with a short early-weaner phase had a greater growth response to whey permeate intake compared with pigs weaned at a younger age with a long early-weaner *** weaning ages affected dietary needs of whey permeate for optimum growth performance of pigs from 7 to 11 kg BW.

AIm： To determine whether the hematocrit （Hct） at admission or at 24 h after admission was associated with severe acute pancreatitis （Ap）, organ failure （OF）, and pancreatic necrosis. mETHODS： A total of 336 consecutive patients with a first Ap episode were studied. Etiology, Hct values at admission and at 24 h, development of severe Ap according to Atlanta＇s criteria, pancreatic necrosis, OF and mortality were recorded. Hemoconcentration was defined as Hct level 〉44% for males and 〉40% for females. The t-test and ;x^2 test were used to assess the association of hemoconcentration to the severity, necrosis and OF. Diagnostic accuracy was also determined. RESULTS： Biliary disease was the most frequent etiology （n = 148）. mean Hct levels at admission were 41±6% for females and 46±7% for males （p〈0.01）. Seventyeight （23%） patients had severe Ap, and OF developed in 45 （13%） patients. According to contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan, 36% （54/150） patients showed pancreatic necrosis. Hct levels were elevated in 58% （55/96） and 61% （33/54） patients with interstitial and necrotizing pancreatitis, respectively. Neither Hct levels at admission nor hemoconcentration at 24 h were associated with the severity, necrosis or OF. Sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive values for both determinations were very low; and negative predictive values were between 61% and 86%, being the highest value for OF. CONCLUSION： Hct is not a useful marker to predict a worse outcome in acute pancreatitis. In spite of the high negative predictive value of hemoconcentration, the prognosis gain is limited due to an already high incidence of mild disease.
