Natural history of liver cirrhosis in south China based on a large cohort study in one center： a follow-up study for up to 5 years in 920 patients

Background The natural history of the profile and development of the miscellaneous complications. iver cirrhosis in China has not been we complications of liver cirrhosis as we understood. This study aimed to elucidate as the mortality of those cirrhotics with Methods We assembled data from the clinical characteristics, especially from the profile complications of cirrhosis on admission, and collected information by telephone or interview with patients and/or their family members in clinic to evaluate the development of complications in 920 patients enrolled in a prospective non-randomized cohort study, and followed up from June 2006 to October 2010. Mortality was calculated using Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regress analysis. We employed both of the Child-Pugh scoring system and model for end-stage liver disease （MELD） scoring system to compare with the accordance and veracity between liver function and the long-term outcome. Results On admission, only 7.4% patients had no complications, 44.5% patients with one complication （ascites, esophageal/gastric varices or hepatocellular carcinoma）, 33.8% patients with two coexisting complications, and 7.5% patients had complications concurrently with ascites, esophageal/gastric varices and hepatocellular carcinoma. During the follow-up （mean follow-up time was 17 months, ranging from 1.0 to 52.2 months） of all the patients, 37.5% patients survived without new complications, 62.5% patients had new complications, and the overall mortality was 53.9%. Patients with one or more complications had higher mortality （total mortality, 1-year or 3-year mortality） and shorter mean survival time than those without any complication; the major cause of mortality of these cirrhotic patients was hepatocellular carcinoma （59%）. Evaluated with the Child-Pugh score system, the total mortality in those with the scores more than 12 （class C） was 71.4%, the 1-year and 3-year mortalities were 57.1% and 71.4% respectively; while evaluated with the

This paper deals with the identification of Hammerstein-Wiener models with an irregular function in the input block. These models comprise a set of linear segments. The linear time invariant(LTI) block may be parametric or nonparametric. The nonlinearity of the output can be any continuous function of arbitrary shape; it is not necessarily assumed to be invertible. Subsequently, sine inputs will be used to identify the system parameters. First, the output nonlinearity is determined by filtering the system output and varying the phase of a given reference sine signal; second, the parameters of the linear block can be determined for any frequency; and finally, the input nonlinearity can be obtained by changing the offset and amplitude of the input sine signal.

The current targeting drug delivery mainly relies on cancer cell surface ***,in many cases,binding affinities between protein receptors and homing ligands is relatively low and the expression level between cancer and normal cells is not *** from conventional targeting strategies,we have developed a general cancer targeting platform by building artificial receptor on cancer cell surface via a chemical remodeling of cell surface glycans.A new tetrazine(Tz)functionalized chemical receptor has been designed and efficiently installed on cancer cell surface as“overexpressed”biomarker through a metabolic glycan *** from the reported bioconjugation for drug targeting,the tetrazine labeled cancer cells not only locally activate TCO-caged prodrugs but also release active drugs via the unique bioorthogonal Tz-TCO click-release *** studies have demonstrated that the new drug targeting strategy enables local activation of prodrug,which ultimately leads to effective and safe cancer therapy.

With the increasing railway vehicle speed, pantograph--catenary （PAC） system has become an important part as its incidents still stand among the prin- cipal causes of railway traffic interruption. Indeed, when a rail vehicle moves, the pantograph should constantly press against the underside of the catenary. Nonetheless, it is difficult to get around the complexity of the physical interaction between the pantograph and the contact wire, which could deteriorate the quality of the electricity transfer. Thus, PAC system performances could dramati- cally be reduced because of bad current collection. Therefore, in this paper, we present an output feedback solution in order to design an active control of PAC system. The proposed solution is based on the backstepping control and an adaptive observer that estimates both the （unknown） catenary parameters and the system state. All synthesis steps are given and the closed-loop analysis shows asymptotic tracking behavior regardless of the time-vary- ing catenary stiffness. Furthermore, a numerical example shows that the PAC contact can be regulated with desired effect.

Aim:Chemoresistance is a prevalent issue in cancer ***(PTX)is a microtubule-binding anticancer drug used in various cancer ***,cancer cells often show chemoresistance against PTX with the help of P-glycoprotein(Pgp)-a drug efflux *** has also been observed that overexpressed T-type calcium channels(TTCCs)maintain calcium homeostasis in cancer cells,and calcium has a role in ***,the aim of this study was to test the adjuvant role of TTA-A2,a TTCC blocker,in enhancing the anticancer effect of PTX on the A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell ***:Morphology assay,calcium imaging assay,clonogenic assay,apoptosis assay,and real-time polymerase chain reaction(real-time PCR)were performed to find the adjuvant role of *** were treated with PTX at 10 nM concentration and TTA-A2 at 50 and 100 nM *** and TTA-A2 were used in the combination treatment at 10 and 100 nM concentrations,***:Immunocytochemistry confirmed the expression of TTCC in A549 *** assay showed altered morphology of A549 *** adjuvant role of TTA-A2 was observed in the calcium imaging assay in spheroids,in the clonogenic assay in monolayers,and in the apoptosis assay in both *** real-time PCR,it was observed that,even though cells express the mRNA of Pgp,it is non-significant upon treatment with PTX and ***:TTA-A2 can be used as an adjuvant to reduce chemoresistance in cancer cells as well as to enhance the anticancer effect of the standard anticancer drug *** a potent TTCC inhibitor,TTA-A2 may also enhance the anticancer effects of other anticancer drugs.
