Overweight and obesity in children are an increasing public health problem,and the influence the gut microbiota has on it,is still *** consumption of prebiotics has been studied in children with overweight and obesity after an intervention with fermented milk,supplemented with different fructans like prebiotics,was carried out to obtain a healthy *** were randomly assigned into three groups,a double-blind intervention was carried out,receiving different fermented milk products for 6 weeks,including the following supplements:Lactobacillus casei strain Shirota,*** strain Shirota with inulin or *** strain Shirota with fructans from Agave salmiana Otto ex *** was extracted from stool samples and the differential abundance of ASv was monitored by high throughput 16S rRNA gene sequencing.A synbiotic with fructans from *** stimulated the abundance and diversity of the microbiota,specifically on genera Faecalibacterium and Holdemanella,thus,leading to a healthier gut microbiota,which led to obtaining the best anthropometric changes in synbiotic *** intervention may provide health benefits to children with overweight or obesity by increasing the richness of the gut microbiota and stimulate beneficial ***,more studies are needed to get a better understanding of the mechanisms of action.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19)is a disease produced by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Cov-2)and it is currently causing a catastrophic pandemic affecting humans *** disease has been lethal for approximately 3.12 million people around the world since January ***,among the most affected countries,Mexico ranks third in deaths after the United States of America and *** the high number of deceased people might also be explained by social aspects and lifestyle customs in Mexico,there is a relationship between this high proportion of deaths and comorbidities such as high blood pressure(HBP),type 2 diabetes,obesity,and metabolic *** official epidemiological figures reported by the Mexican government have indicated that 18.4%of the population suffers from HBP,close to 10.3%of adults suffer from type 2 diabetes,and approximately 36.1%of the population suffers from *** in the gut microbiota(GM)have been associated with these diseases and with COvID-19 severity,presumably due to inflammatory *** data about the association between GM dysbiosis and metabolic diseases could suggest that the high levels of susceptibility to SARSCov-2 infection and COvID-19 morbidity in the Mexican population are primarily due to the prevalence of type 2 diabetes,obesity,and metabolic syndrome.

Comparative Pharmacokinetic Study between Metformin Alone and Combined with Orlistat in Healthy Mexican volunteers

Traditional treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has focused on correcting hyperglycemia. However, T2DM is almost always accompanied by other conditions and risk factors that affect its morbidity and mortality. Obesity represents one of the main risk factors associated in the T2DM and a modest weight loss around 5% is linked with significant reduction in the blood glucose levels. The objective of this study was to compare the pharmacokinetic parameters between two formulations of metformin, alone or combined with orlistat, in healthy volunteers. A single-blinded, single dose, two-period, two-sequence, crossover, randomized and balanced study design with a 7-day washout period was performed in 26 Mexican volunteers. Plasma samples were collected over a 24-hour period after administration of 500 mg metformin alone or combined with 60 mg orlistat in each period. A validated high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a ultraviolet detector was used to analyze metformin concentration in plasma. Bioequivalence between metformin alone and metformin combined with orlistat was determined when the ratio for the 90% confidence intervals (CI) of area under the curve (AUC24h) and maximum concentration (Cmax) of the two formulations were within 80% and 125%. In the current study, the mean ± standard deviation (SD) of Cmax, AUC24h and AUC∞ of the formulation containing only metformin were 1.39 ± 0.44 μg/mL, 7.59 ± 3.17 μg h/mL and 8.48 ± 4.13 μg h/mL, respectively, while the mean ± SD of Cmax, AUC24h and AUC∞ of the formulation containing metformin and orlistat were 1.38 ± 0.48 μg/mL, 7.80 ± 2.83 μg h/mL and 9.13 ± 4.29 μg h/mL, respectively. The parametric 90% CI for Cmax and AUC24h were 87.5-109.3 and 88.7-124.7, respectively. These results suggest that both formulations are bioequivalent and there is not pharmacokinetic interaction between metformin and orlistat.

Genotoxic and Cytotoxic Damage by Cyclophosphamide and Adriamycin as a Response to Treatment in Breast Cancer Patients: Pilot Study

The aim of this study was to evaluate the genotoxicity induced by cyclophosphamide-adriamycin treatment in breast cancer patients through the frequencies of Sister Chromatid Exchange (SCE), Replication Index (RI), Mitotic Index (MI) and Cell Proliferation Index (CPI) and to study the possible association between biomarkers of genotoxicity and the early response to treatment. The frequencies were obtained before and immediately after therapy from 17 patients with breast cancer (p values after treatment in women with active cancers compared to those in a state of remission, however there were not significant differences. Conclusions: It is possible that MI y CPI biomarkers can serve as indicators for early assessment of treatment with cyclophosphamide-adriamycin. It should be noted that these are preliminary results and further study is necessary.

Depreciation factor equation to evaluate the economic losses from ground failure due to subsidence related to groundwater withdrawal

Subsidence due to groundwater withdrawal is a complex hydrogeological process affecting numerous cities settled on top of fluviolacustrine deposits. The discrete spatial variation in the thickness of these deposits, in combination with subsidence due to groundwater withdrawal, generates differential settlements and aseismic ground failure (AGF) characterized by a welldefined scarp. In cities, such AGF causes severe damages to urban infrastructure and considerable economic impact. With the goal of arriving to a general criterion for evaluating the economic losses derived from AGF, in the present work we propose the following equation: ELi = Pvi*DFi. Where Pvi is the value of a property “i”, and DFi is a depreciation factor caused by structural damages of a property “i” due to AGF. The DFi is calculated empirically through: . This last equation is based on the spatial relations of coexistence and proximity of property polygons and the AGF axis. The coexistence is valued as the quotient of the affectation area divided by the total area of the involved property;and the proximity to the AGF axis is expressed as the inverse of the perpendicular distance from the centroid of the property polygon to the AGF axis. The sum of these terms is divided by two to determine the percentage that affects the property value (Pvi). These equations are relevant because it is the first indicator designed for the discrete assessment of the economic impacts due to AGF, and can be applied to real estate infrastructure from either urban or rural areas.

Impact of Chiapanecan Handicrafts

The purpose of this research is to study the perception of Chiapanecan handicrafts as an element of sustainable competitive advantage in the State of Chiapas, Mexico, mainly due to the tourism. Mexican handicrafts contribute to 20.3% of the Gross Domestic Product （GDP） of the cultural sector, that is, 0.6% of the National GDP. This research is quantitative, descriptive, and transversal. The sample selection was made for convenience so certain criteria could be met. In total, 70 tourists were surveyed in the handicraft commerce area. For the data retrieval, an instrument with the “Sustainability SWOT” （sSWOT） was designed, which consists of eight dimensions （trends, environmental challenges, threats, opportunities, strengths, weaknesses, which to prioritize, and where to act）. The instrument consists of 22 items with a single Likert scale ranging from 1 to 5 （1 = Null to 5 = Excellent）. The study showed that 54.29% of the tourists who visit Chiapas perceive that handicrafts have a regular impact on the small producer’s quality of life, while the remaining 45.71% point out that the impact is greater.

Neutral protamine hagedorn/regular insulin in the treatment of inpatient hyperglycemia: Comparison of 3 basal-bolus regimens

AIM To compare the safety and efficacy or 3 basal-bolus regimens of neutral protamine hagedorn(NPH)/regular insulin in the management of inpatient *** We randomized 105 patients with blood glucose levelsbetween 140 and 400 mg/dL to a basal-bolus regimen of NPH insulin given once(n = 30), twice(n = 40) or three times(n = 35) daily, in addition to pre-meal regular insulin. Major outcomes included were differences in glycemic control, frequency of hypoglycemia and total insulin *** NPH insulin given in a once-daily regimen was associated with better glycemic control(58.3%) compared to twice daily(42.4%) and three times daily(48.9) regimens(P = 0.031). The frequency of hypoglycemia was similar between the three groups(2.0%, 0.7% and 1.2%, P = 0.21). The mean insulin dose at discharge was 0.48 ± 0.14 U/kg in the once-daily group compared to 0.69 ± 0.28 in the twice-daily, and 0.65 ± 0.20 in the three times daily regimens(P vement in glycemic control with similar rates of hypoglycemia compared to a twice-daily and a three times-daily regimen. Further studies are needed to evaluate whether this regimen could be implemented in all hospitalized patients with hyperglycemia.

The Thermal Decomposition of Ammonium Perchlorate-Aluminum Propellants in Presence of Metallic Zinc Particles

The thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) with Al and Zn metallic particles was studied at different heating rates in dry air atmosphere and the combustion behavior of AP/Al/Zn propellant was evaluated. The exothermic reaction kinetics was studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA) in non-isothermal conditions and compare with the thermal decomposition of pure AP and AP/aluminum particles analyzed in the same experimental conditions. The Arrhenius parameters were estimated according to the Ozawa and Kissinger methods. The calculated activation energies for the low and high temperature exothermic reactions were 91 and 229 kJ/mol for pure AP, 90 and 112 kJ/mol for 80 wt% AP/20 wt% Al particles. When zinc was incorporated, activation energy of 56 kJ/mol was determined for the only exothermic peak observed for 90 wt% AP/10 wt% Zn and 44 kJ/mol for 78.4 wt% AP/19.6 wt% Al/2 wt% Zn propellant composition.

It has been found that microwave assisted decarboxylation of malonic acid derivatives can be achieved under solvent-free and catalyst free conditions. This new method produces the corresponding carboxylic acid in a pure manner and with a high yield in a very short reaction time: 3 - 10 min. In general terms, the condition under which this reaction is carried out accelerates the decarboxylation significantly of a series of disubstituted malonic acid derivatives, and makes this new process efficient, easy and environmentally friendly.
