The World Health Organization has raised concerns about the possibility of airborne transmission in enclosed and poorly ventilated ***,rapid monitoring of airborne viruses is necessary in multi-use facilities with dense ***,an electrostatic air sampler(250 L/min)was developed in this work to obtain indoor viral aerosol samples for analysis via the Polymerase Chain Reaction(PCR).Aerosol tests with H1N1 and HCoV-229E were performed to evaluate the sample collection *** analysis,along with another aerosol test,was conducted to evaluate the recovery of the virus particles collected by the *** laboratory tests,our electrostatic sampler obtained viral samples that were detectable by PCR under the simulated viral pandemic scenario(3000 RNA copies per cubic meter of air)within 40 *** resulting cycle threshold(C)values were 35.07 and 37.1 for H1N1 and HCoV-229E,*** the performance evaluation in the laboratory,field tests were conducted in a university classroom from October 28 to december 2,*** A and HCoV-229E were detected in two air samples,and the corresponding C,values were 35.3 and *** PCR results are similar to those obtained from laboratory tests,considering the simulatedviralpandemic scenario.

Background Many guidelines recommend non-drug interventions(NdIs)for managing common conditions in primary ***,compared with drug interventions,NdIs are less widely known,promoted and *** aim to(1)examine general practitioners’(GPs’)knowledge,attitudes and practices for NdIs,including their use of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners(RACGP)Handbook of Non-drug Interventions(HANdI),and(2)identify factors influencing their use of NdIs and *** We conducted a web-based cross-sectional survey of practicing GP members in Australia during October-November *** survey contained five sections:characteristics of GP;knowledge and use of NdIs;attitudes towards NdIs;barriers and enablers to using HANdI;and suggestions of NdIs and ideas to improve the uptake of NdIs in primary *** Of the 366 GPs who completed the survey,242(66%)were female,and 248(74%)were≥45 years *** in three GPs reported that they regularly(‘always’)recommend NdIs to their patients when appropriate(34%),whereas one-third of GPs were unaware of HANdI(39%).GPs identified several factors that improve the uptake of HANdI,including‘access and integration of HANdI in clinical practice’,‘content and support to use in practice’and‘awareness and training’.Conclusions While many GPs are aware of the effectiveness of NdIs and often endorse their use,obstacles still prevent widespread adoption in primary *** results of this survey can serve as a foundation for developing implementation strategies to improve the uptake of effective evidence-based NdIs in primary care.

The partial differential equation(PdE)solution of the telegrapher is a promising fault location method among time-domain and model-based *** research works have shown that the leap-frog process is superior to other explicit methods for the PdE ***,its implementation is challenged by determining the initial conditions in time and the boundary conditions in *** letter proposes two implicit solution methods for determining the initial conditions and an analytical way to obtain the boundary conditions founded on the signal *** results show that the proposal gives fault location accuracy superior to the existing leap-frog scheme,particularly in the presence of harmonics.

We use particle-in-cell,fully electromagnetic,plasma kinetic simulation to study the effect of external magnetic field on electron scale Kelvin–Helmholtz instability(ESKHI).The results are applicable to collisionless plasmas when,e.g.,solar wind interacts with planetary magnetospheres or a magnetic field is generated in AGN *** find that as in the case of magnetohydrodynamic(MHd)KHI,in the kinetic regime,the presence of an external magnetic field reduces the growth rate of the *** the MHd case,there is a known threshold magnetic field for KHI stabilization,while for ESKHI this is to be analytically *** a kinetic analytical expression,we use several numerical simulation runs to establish an empirical dependence of ESKHI growth rate,Γ(B_(0))ω_(pe),on the strength of the applied external magnetic *** find the best fit is hyperbolic,Γ(B_(0))ω_(pe)=Γ_(0)ω_(pe)/(A+BB_(0)),where Γ_(0) is the ESKHI growth rate without an external magnetic field and B_(0)=B_(0)/B_(MHd)is the ratio of external and two-fluid MHd stability threshold magnetic field,derived *** analytical theory to back up this growth rate dependence on the external magnetic field is *** results suggest that in astrophysical settings where a strong magnetic field pre-exists,the generation of an additional magnetic field by the ESKHI is suppressed,which implies that nature provides a“safety valve”—natural protection not to“over-generate”magnetic field by the ESKHI ***,we find that our two-fluid MHd threshold magnetic field is the same(up to a factor √γ_(0))as the dC saturation magnetic field,previously predicted by fully kinetic theory.
