Purpose:The aim of the present study was to assess both the credibility and strength of evidence arising from systematic reviews with meta-analyses of observational studies on handgrip strength and health ***:An umbrella review of systematic reviews with meta-analyses of observational studies was *** assessed meta-analyses of observational studies based on random-effect summary effect sizes and their p values,95%prediction intervals,heterogeneity,small-study effects,and excess *** graded the evidence from convincing(Class I)to weak(Class IV).Results:From 504 articles returned in a search of the literature,8 systematic reviews were included in our review,with a total of 11 ***,nine of the 11 of the outcomes reported nominally significant summary results(p<0.05),with 4 associations surviving the application of the more stringent p value(p<106).No outcome presented convincing *** associations showed Class II evidence(i.e.,highly suggestive):(1)higher handgrip values at baseline were associated with a minor reduction in mortality risk in the general population(n=34 studies;sample size=1,855,817;relative risk=0.72,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.670.78),(2)cardiovascular death risk in mixed populations(n=15 studies;relative risk=0.84,95%CI:0.780.91),and(3)incidence of disability(n=7 studies;relative risk=0.76,95%CI:0.660.87).Conclusion:The present results show that handgrip strength is a useful indicator for general health status and specifically for early all-cause and cardiovascular mortality,as well as *** further inform intervention strategies,future research is now required to fully understand mechanisms linking handgrip strength scores to these health outcomes.

Background The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,a global health crisis,profoundly impacted all aspects of daily ***,a pivotal stage of psychological and social development,is heavily influenced by the psychosocial and socio-cultural ***,it is imperative to thoroughly understand the psychosocial changes adolescents experienced during the pandemic and implement effective management *** sources We examined the incidence rates of depressive and anxiety disorders among adolescents aged 10–19 years globally and *** utilized data from the Global Burden of Diseases,Injuries,and Risk Factors Study(GBD)2021 to compare pre-pandemic(2018–2019)and pandemic(2020–2021)*** investigation covered 204 countries and territories across the six World Health Organization *** conducted a comprehensive literature search using databases including PubMed/MEDLINE,Scopus,and Google Scholar,employing search terms such as“psychosocial”,“adolescent”,“youth”,“risk factors”,“COVID-19 pandemic”,“prevention”,and“intervention”.Results During the pandemic,the mental health outcomes of adolescents deteriorated,particularly in terms of depressive and anxiety *** to GBD 2021,the incidence rate of anxiety disorders increased from 720.26[95%uncertainty intervals(UI)=548.90–929.19]before the COVID-19 pandemic(2018–2019)to 880.87 per 100,000 people(95%UI=670.43–1132.58)during the COVID-19 pandemic(2020–2021).Similarly,the incidence rate of major depressive disorder increased from 2333.91(95%UI=1626.92–3138.55)before the COVID-19 pandemic to 3030.49 per 100,000 people(95%UI=2096.73–4077.73)during the COVID-19 *** worsening was notably pronounced in high-income countries(HICs).Rapid environmental changes,including heightened social anxiety,school closures,economic crises,and exacerbated racism,have been shown to adversely affect the mental well-being of *** The abrupt shift to remote learning and

Depression, anxiety, and cardiac morbidity outcomes after coronary artery bypass surgery： a contemporary and practical review

Research to date indicates that the number of coronary artery bypass graft （CABG） surgery patients affected by depression （i.e., major, minor, dysthymia） approximates between 30% and 40% of all cases. A longstanding empirical interest on psychosocial factors in CABG surgery patients highlights an association with increased risk of morbidity in the short and longer term. Recent evidence suggests that both depression and anxiety increase the risk for mortality and morbidity after CABG surgery independent of medical factors, although the behavioral and biological mechanisms are poorly understood. Though neither depression nor anxiety seem to markedly affect neuropsy- chological dysfunction, depression confers a risk for incident delirium. Following a comprehensive overview of recent literature, practical advice is described for clinicians taking into consideration possible screening aids to improve recognition of anxiety and depression among CABG surgery patients. An overview of contemporary interventions and randomized, controlled trials are described, along with suggestions for future CABG surgery research.

THE HUMAN RIGHT TO ACCESS CLEAN ENERGY1

This paper proposes the existence of a human right to access clean energy in view of trends favoring greater resortto renewable energy sources within several parallel policy contexts. The existing international framework for theprotection and promotion of human rights may be applied to support an entitlement to access energy for individualbenefi t. However, the application of human rights norms to an appropriate energy source must also be compatiblewith the contemporary sustainable development agenda. This includes balancing economic development, sustainablyusing natural resources, environmental protection and poverty alleviation. A human rights approach must also besuffi ciently receptive to similarities and differences in the energy strategies of developed and developing States. It isargued that a human right to access clean energy more accurately refl ects intergovernmental concerns for both humandevelopment and environmental sustainability. While such a right can be employed to satisfy basic human needs, enhanceliving standards, maintain good human health and alleviate poverty, it can also contribute to the effi cient useof existing natural resources, the prevention of climate change and environmental protection.

Acute systemic accumulation of acrolein in mice by inhalation at a concentration similar to that in cigarette smoke

Cigarette smoke is an important environmental factor associated with a wide array of public health concerns. Acrolein, a component of tobacco smoke and a known toxin to various cell types, may be a key pathological factor mediating the adverse effects linked with tobacco smoke. Although acrolein is known to accumulate in the respiratory system after acute nasal exposure, it is not clear if it accumulates systemically, and less is known in the nervous system. The aim of this study was to assess the degree of acrolein accumulation in the circulation and in the spinal cord following acute acrolein inhalation in mice. Using a laboratory-fabricated inhalation chamber, we found elevated urinary 3-HPMA, an acrolein metabolite, and increased acrolein adducts in the spinal cord after weeks of nasal exposure to acrolein at a concentration similar to that in tobacco smoke. The data indicated that acrolein is absorbed into the circulatory system and some enters the nervous system. It is expected that these findings may facilitate further studies to probe the pathological role of acrolein in the nervous system resulting from smoke and other external sources.

The importance of depression and alcohol use in coronary artery bypass graft surgery patients：risk factors for delirium and poorer quality of life

ObjectiveToinvestigate whether depression, anxiety and stress increase the risk for delirium and poor quality of life （QOL） after co-ronary artery bypass （CABG） *** total of 180 CABG patients （mean age of 63.5 ± 10.1 years, 82.2% males） completed baseline and postoperative self-report questionnaires to assess distress and QOL. Incident delirium was diagnosed postoperatively with a structured clinical interview and patients were monitored every day post-operatively for confusion and disturbance in *** Delirium developed in 63 persons （35% of sample）. After adjustment for covariates, delirium was significantly associated with depression [odds ratio （OR）： 1.08; 95% confidence interval （CI）： 1.03-1.13,P = 0.003], anxiety （OR： 1.07; 95% CI： 1.02-1.13,P= 0.01） and stress （OR： 1.05; 95% CI： 1.00-1.09,P= 0.03）. Preoperative depression scores were associated with poorer QOL including bodily pain （β =-0.39,P = 0.013）, vitality （β=-0.32,P = 0.020）, social functioning （β=-0.51,P≤0.001）, emotional role function （β=-0.44,P = 0.003） and general health （β=-0.33,P = 0.038）. Among the covariates, harmful levels of alcohol use was consistently associated with poorer *** Depression and harmful levels of alcohol use were consistently associated with poorer QOL whereas depression, anxiety and stress were associated with delirium risk. These findings point to further research examining depression and harmful levels of alcohol use in coronary heart disease populations undergoing coronary revascularization.

We present a catheter-based optical diffusion and fluorescence(ODF)probe to study the functional changes of the brain in *** ODF probe enables the simultaneous detection ofthe multi-wavelength absorbance and fluorescence emission from the living rat *** previous studies,including a transient stroke experiment of the rat brain as well as the brainresponse to cocaine,have established the feasibility of simultaneously determining changes incerebral blood volume(CBV),tissue oxygenation(StO2)and intracellular calcium([Ca^(2+)]i,using the fluorescence indicator Rhod2).Here,we present our preliminary results of somatosensory response to electrical forepaw stimulation obtained from the rat cortical brain by using theODF probe,which indicate that the probe could track brain activation by directly detecting[Ca^(2+)]i along with separately distinguishing CBV and StO2 in real *** changes of CBV,StO2 and[Ca^(2+)]i are comparable with the blood-oxygen-level-dependent(BOLD)response tothe stimulation obtained using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI).However,thehigh temporal resolution of the optical methodology is advanced,thus providing a new modalityfor brain functional studies to understand the hemodynamic changes that underlie the neuronalactivity.

Change in quality of life after transcatheter aortic valve implantation and aortic valve replacement surgery in Australian patients aged ≥ 75 years： the effects of EuroSCORE and patient operability

Objective To determine the extent to which differences in generic quality of life （QOL） between transcatheter aortic valve implanta- tion （TAVI） and surgical aortic valve replacement （AVR） patients explained by EuroSCORE and heart-team operability assessment. Methods A total of 146 high-risk patients with EuroSCORE 〉 6 and aged 〉 75 years underwent TAVI （n = 80） or aortic valve replacement （n = 66） between February 2010 and July 2013. A total of 75 patients also completed preoperative and six month SF-12 QOL measures. Analyses examined incident major morbidity, compared six month QOL between groups adjusted for EUroSCORE and operability, and quantified rates of clinically significant QOL improvement and deterioration. Results The AVR group required longer ventilation （〉 24 h）（TAVI 5.0% vs. AVR 20.6%, P = 0.004） and more units of red blood cells [TAVI 0 （0-1） vs. AVR 2 （0-3）, P = 0.01]. New renal failure was higher in TAVI （TAVI 5.0% vs. AVR 0%, P = 0.06）. TAVI patients reported significantly lower vitality （P = 0.01） by comparison to AVR patients, however these findings were no longer significant after adjustment for operability. In both procedures, clinically significant QOL improvement was common [range 25.0% （general health） - 62.9% （physical role）] whereas deterioration in QOL occurred less frequently [range 9.3% （physical role） - 33.3% （mental health）]. Conclusions Clinically significant improvement and deterioration in QOL was evident at six months in high risk elderly aortic valve replacement patients. Overall QOL did not differ between TAVI and AVR once operability was taken into consideration.

＜正＞One of the challenges in the study of signal transduction pathways in neurons is to understand the way in which signals are restricted to subcellular compartments and how different signaling pathways interact. To explore these issues, we are investigating the role of A kinase anchoring proteins （AKAPs） in Drosophila olfactory learning and memory. AKAPs localize PKA specific subcellular locations and assemble PKA into signaling modules that include phosphodiesterases, phosphatases, ion channels and receptors. Based on our large-scale memory mutant screening, we obtained about twelve candidate memory mutants. One of them is 911046, temporarily named joay. Joay is a novel olfactory memory
