Wellbore instability in oil and gas industry well drillings is a significant challenge that is linked to shale swelling when shale interacts with free water molecules in the water-based drilling *** design of environmentally benign,biodegradable,and effective shale hydration inhibitors is a prominent objective of contemporary exploration in well-drilling fluids as a replacement for the common KCl which is detrimental to aquatic *** work reports the synthesis and potential of novel green acrylic polymer-amyl ester activated carbon(-C)nanocomposite to hinder shale hydration in formations during *** less hydrophobic acrylic acid-acrylamide-activated carbon-amyl ester(AA-AAm-C-Amyl)and more hydrophobic acrylic acid-acrylamide-octadecene-activated carbon-amyl ester(AA-AAm-OD-CAmyl)composites were synthesized,characterized,and tested with standard methods as a cleaner fluid additive for shale swelling inhibition,and their results compared with that of *** polymer matrixes displayed remarkable thermal *** also indicate that AA-AAm-C-Amyl and AA-AAm-OD-CAmyl composites could stabilize wellbore effectively with 95.2%and 93.7%anti-swelling ratio,and shale recovery capacity of 97%and 95.2%*** surface evaluation of the composite fluidtreated bentonite revealed that the mechanism of inhibition could be based on the collaborative action of nanopore plugging of carbon core and strong adsorption of the polymer component of the materials on clay surfaces via encapsulation and hydrogen bonding to form an impressive filter cake which could actively prevent water invasion into ***,AA-AAm-C-Amyl and AA-AAm-OD-C-Amyl composites could be a sustainable substitute for the conventional KCl as a shale inhibitor for welldrilling.

This paper presents a novel Simulink models with an evaluation study of more widely used On-Line Maximum Power Point tracking(MPPT)techniques for Photo-Voltaic based Battery Storage Systems(PV-BSS).To have a full comparative study in terms of the dynamic response,battery state of charge(SOC),and oscillations around the Maximum Power Point(MPP)of the PV-BSS to variations in climate conditions,these techniques are simulated in Matlab/*** introduced methodologies are classified into two types;the first type is conventional hill-climbing techniques which are based on instantaneous PV data measurements such as Perturb&Observe and Incremental Conductance *** second type is a novel proposed methodology is based on using solar irradiance and cell temperature measurements with pre-build Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)model to predict DC–DC converter optimum duty cycle to track *** evaluation study is introduced for conventional and proposed On-Line MPPT *** comparative study can be useful in specifying the appropriateness of the MPPT techniques for *** the introduced model can be used as a valued reference model for future research related to Soft Computing(SC)MPPT techniques.A significant improvement of SOC is achieved by the proposed model and methodology with high accuracy and lower oscillations.

The speed of increasing threats to the riverine water resources makes it more critical to protect the health of Old Brahmaputra River *** current study was done to investigate the concentrations,distributions,sources,and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediment from the Old Brahmaputra River,*** were collected from seven sites and analyzed with an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer(ICP-MS).The results showed that mean concentrations(mg/kg) of heavy metals were in the order of nickel(Ni)(44.69)> chromium(Cr)(30.16)> lead(Pb)(19.31)>copper(Cu)(17.84)> cadmium(Cd)(3.94)> arsenic(As)(2.73).The contamination factor(CF),pollution load index(PLI),enrichment factor(EF),and geo-accumulation index(Igeo) indicated low to moderate *** unit analysis revealed that the studied metals from all stations posed low *** sediment of the study river was uncontaminated to moderately contaminated,posing a minimal ecological ***,Cr,Ni,and Pb originated from anthropogenic sources rather than geogenic sources,and caused the severity of *** this regard,pollutant-based intensive monitoring of heavy metals and holistic ecological risk assessments are required to maintain a sound and healthy aquatic environment in the river.

This paper presents a computational study of the air flow past a triangular boattailed *** study shows that there is a single normal shock wave impinges the projectile at transonic *** supersonic speeds,the formed shock waves are smeared compared to a conical boattailed ***,there is a reduction of the wake region behind the triangular base and the rear stagnation point is nearer to the projectile base resulting in base drag ***,there is an improvement of the stability of the triangular boattailed projectile since a lower overturning moment is incurred.

The friction factor is a crucial parameter in calculating frictional pressure losses. However, it is a decisive challenge to estimate, especially for turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids in pipes. The objective of this paper is to examine the validity of friction factor correla- tions adopting a new informative-based approach, the Akaike information criterion （AIC） along with the coeffi- cient of determination （R2）. Over a wide range of measured data, the results show that each model is accurate when it is examined against a specific dataset while the E1-Emam et al. （Oil Gas J 101：74-83, 2003） model proves its supe- riority. In addition to its simple and explicit form, it covers a wide range of flow behavior indices and generalized Reynolds numbers. It is also shown that the traditional belief that a high R2 means a better model may be mis- leading. AIC overcomes the shortcomings of R2 as a trade between the complexity of the model and its accuracy not only to find a best approximating model but also to develop statistical inference based on the data. The authors present AIC to initiate an innovative strategy to help alleviate several challenges faced by the professionals in the oil and gas industry.
