Because of increased need to tissue and organ transplantation, tissue engineering (TE) researches have significantly increased in recent years in Iran. The present study explored briefly the advances in the TE approaches in Iran. Through comprehensive search, we explored main TE components researches include cell, scaffold, growth factor and bioreactor conducted in Iran. The field of TE and regenerative medicine in Iran dates back to the early part of the 1990 decade and the advent of stem cell researches. During past two decades, Iran was one of leader in stem cell research in Middle East. The next major step in TE was application and fabrication of scaffolds for TE in the early 2000s with focused on engineering bone and nerve tissue. Iranian researchers extensively used natural scaffolds in their studies and hybridized natural polymers and inorganic scaffolds. There are many universities and government research institutes are conducting active research on tissue-engineering technologies. Limitations to TE in Iran include property design and validation of bioreactors. In conclusion, in the last few years, fields of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine such as stem cell technology and scaffolds have progressed in Iran, but one of the biggest challenges for TE is bioreactors researches.

Antimicrobial susceptibility of Helicobacter pylori strains isolated from patients in Shiraz, Southern Iran

AIM: To improve our understanding of Iranian regional variation in Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori ) antibiotic resistance rates to find the best antibiotic therapy for eradication of H. pylori ***: A total of 266 patients undergoing endoscopy in Shiraz, Southern Iran, were included in this study. H. pylori strains were isolated from antral biopsies by culture and confirmed by the rapid urease-test and gram staining. Antibiotic susceptibility of H. pylori isolates was determined by ***: A total of 121 H. pylori strains were isolated, 50 from male and 71 from female patients. Data showed that 44% (n = 53), 20% (n = 24), 5% (n = 6), and 3% (n = 4) of all strains were resistant to the antibiotics metronidazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and tetracycline, respectively. When the antibiotics were considered together we found 11 sensitivity patterns for the strains. Resistance to metronidazole was significantly higher in female than in male patients (P 256 mg/L) which was found in 71% of the isolates is considerable. In the case of amoxicillin, an increased resistance rate of 20% is worrying. Resistance to clarithromycin and tetracycline is also emerging among the H. pylori strains in our region.

The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) as a metabolic disorder affecting the liver function is rapidly increasing and there is a need to develop new and more efficient treatment. This study was designed to evaluate the protective effect of Cichorium intybus L. and Cinnamon mixture infusion (2.5 and 0.5 g/100mL and twice/day) on patients with NAFLD. This before-after clinical trial study was performed on 25 patients with NAFLD. They were administered the mixture of extract prepared in special bags twice a day for 30 days. Hepatic and metabolic markers of NAFLD like alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphates (ALP), fasting blood sugar (FBS), cholesterol (chol), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) in plasma and also, fatty liver ultrasonographic grading were determined before and after using the extracts. 30-day treatment with extracts in NAFLD patients resulted in a significant decrease in ALT and AST. FBS, TG and ALP were also decreased after administration of the extracts but not significantly. A significant linear correlation was found between age and ALP, and between gender and liver enzymes. It is concluded that the mixture of Cichorium intybus L. and Cinnamon extracts has some benefits in NAFLD patients making them valuable for future investigations.

＜正＞Introduction: APL accounts for 10% of adult acute myeloid leukemia and presents with coagulopathy and a specific chromosomal translocation, t（15;17）, that fuses the promyelocytic leukemia （PML） and retinoic acid receptor a （RARa） genes. As2O3 is able to induce complete remission in t（15;17）-positive APLs and has shown substantial efficacy and low side effects in treating both newly diagnosed and relapsed patients, Although the exact mechanism of arsenic efficacy remains unknown, arsenic actions may result in the induction of apoptosis, the inhibition of growth and angiogenesis, and the promotion of differentiation. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of As2O3 on APL cells, using NB4 cell line. NB4 is a human APL permanent cell line which harbors the （15;17） translocation with the PML/RARa fusion genes.

Flavonoids are present in foods such as fruits and vegetables. Several studies have demonstrated a relationship between the consumption of flavonoid-rich foods and prevention of human disease, including neurodegenerative disorders. We assessed the effect of rutin （quercetin-3-O-rutinoside） on oxidative stress in kainic acid （KA）-induced seizure. METHODS： Thirty-six BALB/c mice were randomly divided into three groups. In the control group, saline （intra-peritoneal, i.p.） was administered for 7 d, and on the last day, KA （10 mg/kg, i.p.） was injected 30 min after administration of saline. In rutin groups, mice were pretreated with rutin （100 and 200 mg/kg, i.p.） for 7 d, and on the last day, KA （10 mg/kg, i.p.） was injected 30 min after administration of rutin. Subsequently, behavioural changes were observed in mice. Lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress were measured respectively in the early and late phases after KA-induced seizures. RESULTS： Seizure scores in the rutin groups were significantly lower than those in the control group （P 〈 0.01）. Furthermore, rutin dose-dependently inhibited the number of wet-dog shakes （WDS）（P 〈 0.05）. Malondialdehyde level in the hippocampus of the rutin groups was significantly lower than that in the hippocampus of the control group on days 1 and 21 after KA administration. In the rutin groups, the thiol levels observed on day 1 after KA administration were higher than that in the control group （P 〈 0.01）. CONCLUSION： These results indicate that rutin has potential anticonvulsant and antioxidative activities against oxidative stress in KA-induced seizure in mice.

It seems that defects on micro-minerals levels have an etiologic role involved in type 1 diabetes mellitus pathogenicity. The aim of our study were to evaluate the serum levels of zinc and iron and investigate their possible relationship between these biochemical parameters with demographic conditions and glycemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus disorder. In this case-control based study, 68 female with type 1 diabetes mellitus with a mean age of 52.2 ±2 as case group and 122 healthy women as a control group with a mean age of 49/4 ±3/2 were investigated .for biochemical analysis ,10 mL fasting venous blood sample were obtained from each subjects. FBS （fasting blood glucose）, fructosamine （glycemic control parameter） were determined （spectrophotometry method, （pars azmoon, Iran）, nitroblue tetrazoline method respectively）.serum zinc level with colorimetric method （Biorex-UK） and serum iron with photometric method （pars azmoon, Iran） were determined. Statistical analysis using SPSS software performed. Significant levels considered as P 〈 0.05. According to this study there is statistically significant difference between serum levels of iron and zinc in patients with type 1 diabetes compared to controls .indeed serum level of iron and zinc had lower level in patient group toward controls. In patients group, there are a positive correlation between age and decreased level of serum zinc （P 〈 0.05）. Also there was a significant negative correlation between the glycemic control status and serum zinc. Other studied parameters concluded BMI （body mass index）, Weight and height have not significant difference between groups. The decrease in serum iron and zinc level in women with type 1 diabetes may be related to low dietary intake or increased excretion of micro minerals or the presence of confounding factors that require more extensive intervention studies to confirm it.

This study was carried out in Nilüfer Stream in Bursa City,where intensive industrial,agricultural and mining activities are *** temporal and spatial variation of arsenic was evaluated by examining its concentrations between March 2015 and December *** between March 2015 and December 2019 were evaluated as pre-pandemic,and values between March 2020 and December 2021 were evaluated as *** results were compared with national and international standards and the chronic and cancer risks were calculated for *** the 7-year general averages were examined,it was seen that the highest concentration was 0.0256 mg/L at the 8th Station,and the lowest concentration was 0.0182 mg/L at the 1st *** reason why the highest value is at the 8th station was that the wastewater of Nilüfer and Bursa Organized Industrial Zones was discharged to Bursa West Wastewater Treatment Plant before this *** the pandemic the raises in concentrations were observed at all stations,except for the 3rd *** shows that the pollution load had increased in general during the ***,it was estimated that there was a decrease in the pollution load of the industrial wastewater coming to the 3rd Station,which was located after the Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant of the *** was observed that all stations examined were higher than drinking water standards and lower than irrigation water standards according to WHO and Turkish National *** measuring stations were greater than 1 of the hazard quotient(HQ)*** terms of human consumption risk,all stations had a chronic and carcinogenic risk according to the values before and after the *** the pandemic conditions,the HQ order of the stations was 8>10>7>9>2>6>4>1>*** general,post-pandemic HQ values had generally increased and the risk of cancer had increased.

The main purpose of this study is to reveal the relationship between the perceived cognitive flexibility and sense of inadequacy of older adults and middle adults with their attitudes towards social media use and *** the participants,210(68.2%)were female and 98(31.8%)were *** sample consisted of 49.4%of middle adults aged between 50-59 years,and a total of 308 adults,50.6%of whom were older adults aged 60 and over.“Personal Information Form”,“Sense of Inadequacy Scale”,“Cognitive Flexibility Scale”,and“Media and Technology Use and Attitudes Scale”were used to collect data in the *** to the findings of the study,older-and middle-aged adults differed in their sense of inadequacy and cognitive flexibility capacity.A significant difference was found between social media use and technology attitudes of older and middle *** findings were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature.
