Healthcare utilization patterns and economic burden of animal bites:A cross-sectional study

Objective:To determine the healthcare utilization patterns and estimate the economic burden of animal bites in Golestan province,north part of ***:This cross-sectional study was performed based on the data of 12181 animal-bite patients from Golestan province who were referred to the rabies prophylaxis centers between March 2019 and March *** study was a societal perspective,and all patients were investigated by census *** micro-costing method with a bottom-up approach as well as the human capital approach were used to estimate the economic ***:In our study,the economic burden caused by animal bites was estimated at$1383639(275354672060 Rials).The largest share of costs was related to direct healthcare costs,direct non-healthcare costs,and indirect costs accouting for 91%,5%,and 4%,*** addition,the average cost of a animal-bite patient was estimated at$113.5(22605260 Rials)(The average cost of a case in type 2 and 3 exposures was$45 and$412.8,respectively).The largest share of direct healthcare costs was related to immunoglobulin,vaccine,and personnel expenses accounting for 61.3%,19.8%,and 11.65%,***:Our study shows that animal bites in Golestan province,north of Iran impose a high economic burden on the communities,especially the healthcare system,which indicates the need to review management and control programs of animal bites and rabies based on animal-bite patterns of the area.

Terpenoids are novel natural products isolated from mastic *** gum was obtained from the Pistacia Lentiscus *** investigations have documented medical and pharmacological properties of mastic gum such as memory enhancement,antifungal,and antibacterial *** was astonishing to study the possible interaction of mastic gum extract with microtubule proteins which are involved in memory and consciousness since the administration of mastic gum is evidenced in the improvement of brain *** a number of studies have demonstrated the effect of microtubule dynamics on mammals'memory,in this study,we investigated the effect of Oxygenated Sesquiterpenes(OST)on microtubule polymerization in *** was purified from the ethanolic extract of mastic *** results revealed that OST induces microtubule polymerization;however,microtubule depolymerization was not affected and fluorometric assays showed conformational changes of tubulin in the presence of *** interestingly found that colchicine was unable to inhibit MT assembly in the presence of OST and OST was solely more efficient than the combination of OST with paclitaxel for elevating microtubule polymerization *** hope that OST could be a promising agent for memory enhancement and the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases as a novel tubulin-binding compound.

Base isolation concept is currently accepted as a new strategy for earthquake resistance structures. According to different types of base isolation devices, laminated rubber bearing which is made by thin layers of steel shims bonded by rubber is one of the most popular devices to reduce the effects of earthquake in the buildings. Laminated rubber bearings should be protected against failure or instability because failure of isolation devices may cause serious damage on the structures. Hence, the prediction of the behaviour of the laminated rubber bearing with different properties is essential in the design of a seismic bearing. In this paper, a finite element modeling of the laminated rubber bearing is presented. The procedures of modeling the rubber bearing with finite element are described. By the comparison of the numerical and the experimental, the validities of modelling and results have been determined. The results of this study perform that there is a good agreement between finite element analysis and experimental results.

Objective:To investigate the clinical and epidemiological features and outcome of Chryseobacterium and Elizabethkingia *** in children,together with antimicrobial ***:This retrospective study was conducted at a tertiary pediatric hospital in *** patients infected with Chryseobacterium/Elizabethkingia *** those presenting to Ankara City Hospital between March 2014 and March 2022 were ***:A total of 49 cases were included and 29 cases were identified as *** median age was 14(0.2-185.0)*** majority(89.8%)of these patients had an underlying disease,including malignancy(42.9%).Bacteremia(46.9%)and central line-associated bloodstream infection(28.6%)were the most common *** thirty-day all-cause mortality rate was 12.2%.The most commonly used antibiotics were ciprofloxacin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(TMP-SMX).Forty-five(91.8%)isolates were susceptible to ciprofloxacin,44(91.6%)to TMP-SMX,and 21(87.5%)to ***:Chryseobacterium and Elizabethkingia *** emergent,nosocomial pathogens and the majority of cases were older than the neonatal *** were mainly seen in patients with long hospital stays,indwelling devices,and those who have received antibiotics within the last month,especially *** addition,they were associated with bloodstream infection and *** most commonly useful antibiotics according to the resistance patterns were ciprofloxacin and TMP-SMX.

Objective:To investigate the effects of bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) application into the rat endometrium on oxidative stress, cell proliferation and ***: The female rats selected in estrous cycle were divided into three groups (saline, media and BMSC group). The intrauterine and intraperitoneal injections were performed using the saline (200 μL), culture media (200 μL) and 1×106 BMSCs/200 μL culture media, and then they were mated with male rats. On the 7th day of the pregnancy, uterine samples were harvested and dyed with heamatoxylin-eosin histochemically, anti-endothelial nitric oxide synthase and anti-inducible nitric oxide synthase, and anti-proliferating cell nuclear antigen immunohistochemically, with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferas dUTP nick end labeling for apoptosis. The stainings were evaluated by H-score and the results were analyzed using one-way ANOVA test ***: It was found that BMSCs increased the endometrial thickness, endometrial epithelium thickness and number of endometrial glands compared to control and sham groups. The intrauterine BMSC application decreased both anti-endothelial nitric oxide synthase and anti-inducible nitric oxide synthase immunoreactivities and the number of apoptotic cells compared to the intraperitoneal applications whereas the immunoreactivity of proliferating cell nuclear antigen was ***: In current study, we define that stem cells do not cause any structural damages. Also they change the distribution of oxidative stress and cell proliferation marker. These findings support the reliability of stem cells in clinical use in the case of infertility.

AIM: Nitric oxide (NO) is a highly reactive oxidant synthesized from L-arginine by nitric oxide synthase (NOS). NO may cause injury through the generation of potent radicals. Nw-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) is a non-selective inhibitor of NOS. We aimed to evaluate whether L-NAME treatment had protective effects against oxidative stress in rats intragastrically fed with ethanol during a 4 wk-period. METHODS: Thirty-six male Wistar rats were divided into 3 equal groups: group 1 (control group-isocaloric dextrose was given), group 2 (6 g/kg·d ethanol-induced group) and group 3 (both ethanol 6 g/kg·d and L-NAME 500 mg/L in drinking water-given group). Animals were sacrificed at the end of 4 wk-experimental period, and intracardiac blood and liver tissues were obtained. Biochemical measurements were performed both in plasma and in homogenized liver tissues. Alanine amino transferase (ALT), aspartate amino transferase (AST), malondialdehyde (MDA), NO, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione (GSH) levels were measured by spectrophotometry. RESULTS: ALT and AST in group 2 (62 U/L and 128 U/L, respectively) were higher than those in group 1 (24 U/L and 38 U/L) and group 3 (37 U/L and 81 U/L) (P<0.001 for both). Plasma and tissue levels of MDA in group 2 (4.66 μmol/L and 0.55 μmol/mg protein) were higher than in group 1 (2.65 μmol/L and 0.34 nmol/mg protein) and group 3 (3.43 μmol/L and 0.36 nmol/mg protein) (P<0.001 for both). Plasma and liver tissue levels of NO in group 2 (54.67 μmol/L and 586.50 nmol/mg protein) were higher than in group 1 (34.67 μmol/L and 435.33 nmol/mg protein) and group 3 (27.50 μmool/L and 412.75 nmol/mg protein ) (P<0.001 for both). Plasma and liver tissue SOD activities in group 2 (15.25 U/mL and 5.38 U/ mg protein, respectively) were lower than in group 1 (20.00 U/mL and 8.13 U/ mg protein) and group 3 (19.00 U/mL and 6.93 U/ mg protein) (P<0.001 for both). 目的:探讨大荨麻提取物对高胆固醇血症大鼠血脂的影响。方法:雄性大鼠口服高胆固醇饮食(10mL/kg)4周,制备高胆固醇血症大鼠模型。造模同时灌服100、300mg/kg大荨麻提取物或10mg/kg洛伐他汀。观察大荨麻提取物对大鼠血脂、肝功能和肝脏病理的影响。结果:100、300mg/kg大荨麻提取物可以明显减少高胆固醇血症大鼠血总胆固醇和低密度脂蛋白胆固醇含量,并可以降低丙氨酸氨基转移酶(alanine aminotransferase,ALT)和天冬氨酸氨基转移酶(aspartate aminotransferase,AST)活性。苏木精和伊红染色显示,100mg/kg大荨麻提取物组肝脏组织未见明显脂肪变性,细胞形态与对照组相似;300mg/kg大荨麻提取物组肝脏组织可见到中等程度的脂肪变性。结论:大荨麻提取物可能通过降低血浆胆固醇含量和血浆ALT、AST活性治疗大鼠高胆固醇血症。
