Quality of effluents from Hattar Industrial Estate

Of 6634 registered industries in Pakistan, 1228 are considered to be highly polluting. The major industries include textile, pharmaceutical, chemicals (organic and inorganic), food industries, ceramics, steel, oil mills and leather tanning which spread all over four provinces, with the larger number located in Sindh and Punjab, with smaller number in North Western Frontier Province (NWFP) and Baluchistan. Hattar Industrial Estate extending over 700 acres located in Haripur district of NWFP is a new industrial estate, which has been developed with proper planning for management of industrial effluents. The major industries located in Hattar are ghee industry, chemical (sulfuric acid, synthetic fiber) industry, textile industry and pharmaceuticals industry. These industries, although developed with proper planning are discharging their effluents in the nearby natural drains and ulti- mately collected in a big drain near Wah. The farmers in the vicinity are using these effluents for growing vegetables and cereal crops due to shortage of water. In view of this discussion, there is a dire need to determine if these effluents are hazardous for soil and plant growth. So, effluents from different industries, sewage and normal tap water samples were collected and analysed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total soluble salts (TSS), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total nitrogen, cations and anions and heavy metals. The effluents of ghee and textile industries are highly alkaline. EC and TSS loads of ghee and textile industries are also above the National Environmental Quality Standards (NEQS), Pakistan. All the effluents had residual sodium carbonates (RSCs), carbonates and bicarbonates in amounts that cannot be used for irrigation. Total toxic metals load in all the effluents is also above the limit i.e. 2.0 mg/L. Copper in effluents of textile and sewage, manganese in ghee industry effluents and iron contents in all the effluents were high

A Simple and Convenient Synthesis of Isolated-Fused Heterocycles Based on: 2-Imino-<i>N</i>-phenyl-2<i>H</i>-chromene-3-carboxamide

Starting from 2-imino-N-phenyl-2H-chromene-3-carbox-amide, (1) a series of functionalized chromenes were achieved;such as, 2-ethoxy-2,3-dihydro-3-phenylchromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one (2), and 2-hydrazinyl-2,3-dihydro-3-phenylchromeno-[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one (3). Furthermore, reactions of (3) with some of laboratory available compounds gave pyrazoles (4-9, 12, 13a, 13b), tetrazoles (11), 2-(2-benzylidenehydrazinyl)-3-phenyl-3H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin4(10H)-oneisoxazoles (14), 5-chloro-1-(4-oxo-3-phenyl-4,10-dihydro-3H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-2-yl)-3-phenyl-2, 3-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile (17), pyrimidines (28a, b), pyridines (29a-29e, 30, 33a, 33b), benzo[b][1, 4]oxazepin-2- amines (32a, b), 3-chloro-4-(2-imino-2H-chromen-3-yl)-1-phenyl-4-(phenylamino) azetidin-2-one (34a-34e) and 2-(2- imino-2H-chromen-3-yl)-3-phenyl-2-(phenyl amino)thiazolidin-4-onee (35a-35e). The structures of these compounds were established by elemental analysis, IR, MS and NMR spectral analysis.

为了观察美国白人,亚洲人和黑人三个种族群体之间的收入不平等,我打算看看高等教育教育如何与这些群体的收入相关?为了发现种族间的收入不平等,我将接受高等教育年数与不同种族中的同性和异性的平均收入进行了比较。我采用这种方法,是因为考虑到平均高等教育年份高应该会产生更高的收入,可以使用多元线性回归分析以三种方式进行考察。首先,通过比较上述种族群体中男性的收入-教育关系。二,上述种族中女性的收入-教育关系。最后,高等教育对同一种族男女平均收入的影响,有助于观察任何种族中存在的性别歧视。我把两个年龄段的种族和性别不平等分作四个年龄组,从25岁到64岁。从美国人口普查局获得的关于收入,教育,种族,年龄和性别的数据分析结果与文献相一致。结果显示,与白人相比,亚洲人和黑人有收入不平等的迹象。在收到高等教育的亚洲人之间,收入差距更为突出。性别不平等程度最高的是白人男性和女性之间,黑人(的性别不平等程度)最低,可能是因为白人男性工资较高,黑人男性工资最低。收入与教育的相关性对于女人来说往往比男人更多。

The triple-negative subtype of breast cancer(TNBC)has the bleakest prognosis,owing to its lack of either hormone receptor as well as human epidermal growth factor receptor ***,immunotherapy has emerged as the front-runner for TNBC treatment,which avoids potentially damaging ***,despite its documented association with aggressive side effects and developed resistance,immune checkpoint blockade continues to dominate the TNBC immunotherapy *** immune checkpoint blockade drawbacks necessitate the exploration of other immunotherapeutic methods that would expand options for TNBC *** such method is the exploitation and recruitment of natural killer cells,which by harnessing the innate rather than adaptive immune system could potentially circumvent the downsides of immune checkpoint *** this review,the authors will elucidate the advantageousness of natural killer cell-based immuno-oncology in TNBC as well as demonstrate the need to more extensively research such therapies in the future.

在当下数字化时代,成千上万的大学生们正在使用社交媒体(SM),可以说这已经成为一种生活方式。最近,社交媒体的使用已经引发了许多关于其对学术影响的争论,随着社交媒体的出现,社区之间的联系变得紧密起来,但演讲教室仍然与其他教师、学生以及其他许多可能提高学习水平的人们保持相当隔绝的状态。由于他们能够同时做很多事情,今天的学生们被认为是“数码原住民”。随着社会媒体(SM)发展速度的加快,人们越来越担心让年轻学生参与积极行为的可能性。本研究旨在通过加纳的大学生们之间的协作学习来调查社交媒体对学生的学习成绩的影响。且本研究是基于所提出的技术接受模型(TAM)和建构主义理论的概念框架。该研究采用了两种不同的方法,即混合方法研究(MMR),这是解决研究问题的最佳方法。研究设计由两个阶段组成,第一阶段的定性方面由10个半结构化问题组成,第二阶段的定量方面使用在线Kwik调查(N=322)。本研究采用定量研究设计的方法,通过技术接受模型(TAM)和建构主义理论的研究,探讨如何利用社交媒体(SM)进行协作学习,提高加纳的大学生们的学习成绩。此项在线调查问卷被分发给加纳的三所公立大学的学生们。在进行问卷调查的过程中,没有给学生提供任何以避免偏爱倾向的方案。在获得数据后,即用统计工具对不完整的数据进行清理和删除。在这项研究中,24个项目是从一个已经尝试和测试的结构中挑选出来的。然而,根据他们的社交媒体(SM)研究,从而对问题语言方面进行了一些修改。由于测量模型具有足够的可靠性和正确性,采用Smart-PLS 2.0进行路径分析,并且计算模型中的路径系数。可以说学业成绩采用社交媒体(SM)的路径系数在预期方向上具有显著的统计学意义,即感知易用性、感知有用性、与同伴的交互和协作学习。这项研究再次揭示了社会通过协作学习提高学生的学习能力。然而,这项研究却面临了一些挑战,例如:技术接受模型(TAM)没有考虑到环境或经济因素,且这些因素可能会对一个人的行为意图产生影响。并且该研究为移动学习提供了明确的方法、规则和政策,以便将学生的社交媒体活动纳入他们的最终成绩。

Inferior glenohumeral joint dislocation with greater tuberosity avulsion

Inferior glenohumeral dislocation is the least common type of glenohumeral dislocations. It may be associated with fractures of the adjacent bones and neurovascular compromise. It should be treated immediately by close reduction. The associated neuropraxia usually recovers with time. Traction-counter traction method is commonly used for reduction followed by immobilization of the shoulder for three weeks. Here, we report a case of inferior glenohumeral joint dislocation with greater tuberosity fracture with transient neurovascular compromise and present a brief review of the literature.

Larngeal Manifestations of Relapsing Polychondritis

The incidence of Relapsing Polychondritis is estimated to be 3.5 cases per million with only 600 cases being reported in the world. It can affect any age ranging from 5 to 84 years with predominance in the fourth and fifth decade. Male to female ratio varies from 1:1 to 1:3. It is believed to be an immunologic reaction to collagen Type II which is predominantly presented in the cartilaginous structures of the body and in the eye. The diagnosis is based on the presence of three or more clinical signs, one clinical sign in addition to histological confirmation, or involvement of two or more sites with a favorable response to treatment based on Mc Adam diagnostic criteria. The otolaryngologic manifestations of RP span the ears, nose, larynx and tracheobronchial tree. The symptoms include change in voice quality, respiratory discomfort, stridor, dyspnea, cough, chocking, anterior neck tenderness mainly over the thyroid cartilage and cricoid cartilages, aspiration and difficulty in swallowing. The laryngeal manifestations should be evaluated using high resolution computerized tomography, Magnetic resonance imaging, pulmonary function testing, plain radiography and pulmonary function testing.

Effect of Constant Magnetic Field on Convective Heat Transfer through Anisotropic River Beds

An analytical investigation is conducted to study the effect of magnetic field on convection heat transfer through packed porous beds which consists of a horizontal fluid layer (river bed) and a porous zone with anisotropic permeability and underlined by a surface heated by a constant temperature T1. The free surface of the fluid layer overlying the horizontal porous layer receives solar rays to length of day and is then considered heated isothermally at temperature T2 such as T1 T2. Flow in porous medium is assumed to be governed by the generalized Brinkman-extended Darcy law and in the fluid layer by the Navier-Stokes model. The Beavers-Joseph condition is applied at the interface between the two layers. The influence of Hartmann number and hydrodynamic anisotropy on the convective phenomenon is investigated analytically. It is found that the magnetic field, the anisotropic permeability and the thickness of the porous lining, ε, have a strong influence of the geothermal convective flow and the heat transfer rate.
