Continuous monitoring of the diameter and rings of woody plants is required to evaluate agroforestry products such as *** measurement is still widely used to monitor tree growth but it is *** addition,advanced equipment and software are available but they require technical skills and are costly for ***,we have developed a rapid and low-cost sensing system for estimating the diameters of woody *** apparatus includes a sensor and Internet of things(IoT)technology,which can be used under any network *** apparatus was tested with various trees and the results were compared with those obtained by manual *** findings using the newly developed system demonstrate a strong correlation(R2=0.99)with the manually performed *** rapid and low-cost diameter sensing system will be useful in the expansion of agroforestry sensing networks and beneficial to ***,the system will assist in informing foresters of potential problems in timely manner.

Upper gastrointestinal tract involvement of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease: A pathological review

Upper gastrointestinal(UgI) tract involvement of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) is commonly seen in pediatric patients. Upper endoscopy is included in the routine workup of children with suspected IBD to enhance the diagnosis and management of these patients. Currently, childhood IBD is classified into ulcerative colitis(UC), atypical UC, Crohn's disease(CD) and IBD *** confirmation of UgI tract involvement, in particular the presence of epithelioid(non-caseating) granulomas, is helpful in confirming the diagnosis of IBD and its classification. Herein, we reviewed selected IBD-associated UgI tract manifestations in children. Lymphocytic esophagitis, seen predominantly in CD,is histologically characterized by increased intraepithelial lymphocytes(> 20 in one high-power field) in a background of mucosal injury with absence of granulocytes. Focally enhanced gastritis is a form of gastric inflammation in pediatric IBD marked by a focal lymphohistiocytic pit inflammation with or without granulocytes and plasma cells in a relatively normal background gastric mucosa. Duodenal inflammation seen in children with IBD includes cryptitis,villous flattening, increased intraepithelial lymphocytes, and lamina propria eosinophilia. Finally, epithelioid granulomas not associated with ruptured gland/crypt are a diagnostic feature of CD. The clinicopathologic correlation and differential diagnosis of each microscopic finding are discussed. Clinicians and pathologists should be cognizant of the utility and limitations of these histologic features.

Primary malignant vascular neoplasms of the liver,angiosarcoma and epithelioid hemangioendothelioma,are extremely rare entities in the pediatric *** Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies classification system is recommended for the pathologic diagnosis of hepatic vascular lesions in this age *** this article,we highlight the clinicopathologic characteristics of hepatic angiosarcoma and epithelioid hemangioendothelioma in the pediatric *** angiosarcoma in children shows a slight female predominance with an average age of 40 mo at *** distinct histologic features include whorls of atypical spindled cells and eosinophilic globules,in addition to the general findings of *** diagnosis of pediatric hepatic angiosarcoma is not always straightforward,and the diagnostic challenges are discussed in the *** epithelioid hemangioendothelioma also demonstrates a female predominance,but is more commonly identified in adolescents(median age at diagnosis:12 years).Histologically,the lesion is characterized by epithelioid cells and occasional intracytoplasmic lumina with a background of fibromyxoid *** WWTR1-CAMTA1 and YAP1-TFE3 fusions have been associated with epithelioid hemangioendothelioma,there are currently no known signature genetic alterations seen in pediatric hepatic *** in molecular pathology,particularly for pediatric hepatic angiosarcoma,is necessary for a better understanding of the disease biology,diagnosis,and development of targeted therapies.

Occupant behavior(OB)is one of the significant sources of uncertainty in building performance *** OB modeling has received increased attention in the past decade,research on the degree of granularity or level of detail(LoD)required for representing occupants is still in the nascent *** paper analyzes the modeling and applicability of three LoDs to represent occupants in building performance assessment.A medium-sized prototype office building located in Chicago,Illinois is used as the simulation case *** occupant-centric attributes are adopted to develop the LoDs for OB *** first demonstrate the different modeling approaches required for simulating the three fidelity ***,we illustrate the suitability of the developed LoDs in supporting six building performance use cases across different lifecycle *** study intends to provide guidance for the building simulation community on appropriate OB representation to support various use cases.

Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest burden of tuberculosis and drug-resistant tuberculosis(DR-TB)across the *** on data from the World Health Organization(WHO)global TB Report 2023,it is estimated that there are 10000 cases of DR-TB in ***,a novel antitubercular drug,has been implemented to treat DR-TB *** was administered either a shorter(9 months)or individualized treatment regimen(18 months).However,long treatment duration with various adverse events affects patient ***,a short treatment with less medication is urgently *** 2022,the WHO announced an alternative regimen-bedaquiline,pretomanid,linezolid,and moxifloxacin(BPaLM)to treat DR-TB patients for six months without resistance to fluoroquinolones[1].This recommendation is based on previous clinical trials of TB,Zenix TB,and *** introduction of BPaL and BPaLM provided a bright future for treating DR-TB patients.

An optimal control model of mosquito reduction management in a dengue endemic region

Aedes aegypti is known as the responsible vector in transmitting dengue flavivirus. Unavailability of medication to cure the transmission in human blood becomes a global health issue in recent decades. World epidemiologists are encouraged to focus on investigation toward an effective and inexpensive way to prevent dengue transmission, i.e. mosquito control. In this paper, we present a model depicting the dynamics of mosquito population based on indoor-outdoor life cycle classification. The basic mosquito offspring number is obtained and analysis of equilibria is shown. We bring along a discussion on application of optimal control model which engineers two simultaneous schemes. The first scheme is done by disseminating chemical like Temephos in spots where eggs and larvae develop, meanwhile the second scheme is done by conducting fumigation through areas where adult mosquitoes prevalently nest, indoor as well as outdoor. A version of gradient-based method is presented to set down a workflow in minimizing the objective functional with respect to control variable. Numerical results from analysis of the basic mosquito offspring number with constant control and from optimal control suggest that one has to enhance the usage of fumigation rather than Temephos. It is also suggested that applying both control schemes simultaneously gives the most significant reduction to the population.

Daylight is one of the essential criteria for decent ***,in an urban kampung,access to daylight is limited due to the high-density population in urban Kampung *** study aims to improve the visual and thermal conditions by modifying the aperture of the light pipe based on visual daylight distribution,illuminance level,and thermal conditions in multi-storey houses in hot-humid *** pipe was developed experi-mentally through the simulation model to investigate the performance and impact on the visual and thermal conditions like operational temperature and RH in densely populated Kampung Kota without vertical *** to the results,the two-aperture light pipe residential space enhanced the current situation but did not fulfill the *** two aperture light pipe visually improved daylight distribution by 1.05%-31.36%and illumination level by 8.4%-14.8%.We also found that light pipe also impacts thermal conditions with a 10.92%RH reduction while at the same time increasing temperature up to 10.57%.Therefore,it can be concluded that a two-aperture light pipe has the potential to be applied to actual conditions in hot-humid climates.

The Effect of Uncaria gambir on Optical Properties and Thermal Stability of CNF/PVA Biocomposite Films

Cellulose-based film has gained popularity as an alternative to synthetic polymers due to its outstanding *** all types of cellulose materials available,cellulose nanofiber(CNF)has great potential to be utilized in a diverse range of applications,including as a film *** this study,CNF biocomposite film was prepared by using polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)as a matrix and Uncaria gambir extract as a *** study aims to investigate the effect of Uncaria gambir extract on the optical properties and thermal stability of the produced *** formation of the CNF biocomposite films was confirmed using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy,their transmittance characteristics were measured using UV-Vis spectroscopy and a transmittance meter,while their reflectance was determined using a reflectance *** results revealed that the addition of Uncaria gambir extract to the CNF biocomposite film improved its UV-shielding properties,as indicated by the lower percentage of transmittance in the visible region,10%–70%.In addition,its reflectance increased to 10.6%compared to the CNF film without the addition of Uncaria gambir ***,the thermal stability of the CNF biocomposite film with the addition of Uncaria gambir extract improved to around 400℃–500℃.In conclusion,the results showed that CNF biocomposite film prepared by adding Uncaria gambir extract can be a promising candidate for optical and thermal management materials.
