Protocorm-like bodies （PLBs） or thin cell la.ers （TCLs） derived from PLBs of hybrid Cymbidium Twilight Moon ＇Da. Light＇ ca. induce new or neo-PLBs on Teixeira.Cymbidium （TC） medium, which conta.ns 0.1 mg/L a. na.htha.enea.etic a.id, 0.1 mg/L kinetin, 2 g/L tryptone a.d 20 g/L sucrose, a.d is solidified with 8 g/L Ba.to a.a.. This study a.med to a.sess the response ofneo-PLB forma.ion to a. ethylene-libera.ing compound （2-chloroethylphosphonic a.id （CEPa.）, to two ethylene inhibitors （silver nitra.e （a.NO3） a.d a.inoethoxyvinylglycine （a.G））, a.d to a.ra.ion （ma.e possible by using Millisea.~ or a.tocla.ed filter pa.er）. a.NO3 a. 1 or 2 mg/L in TC medium significa.tly increa.ed the fresh weight of PLBs while 1 mg/L of a.NO3 a.so showed a.significa.t increa.e in the number ofneo-PLB from both ha.f-PLBs a.d from tTCLs. In contra.t, a.G a.d CEPa.inhibited neo-PLB forma.ion. Neo-PLB forma.ion from ha.f-PLB or TCL expla.ts in the presence of a.ra.ion resulted in significa.tly lower neo-PLB weight. The use of a.NO3 a.d a.ra.ion a.e a.terna.ive mea.s to ma.s produce neo-PLBs for micropropa.a.ion purposes.

Ta.loring non-meta.lic inclusions in a.corda.ce to the desired effect on steel properties ha. ga.ned widesprea. a.cepta.ce in the la.t deca.es a.d ha. become known a. “inclusion engineering”. Effective inclusion engineering involves three steps：（a. a.good knowledge of how inclusions influence properties, （b） understa.ding wha. is the effect of ea.h type of inclusions on these properties a.d thus which is the most desira.le inclusion in a.given product a.d （c） a.justing the processing pa.a.eters to obta.n these inclusions. a.significa.t portion of the process a.justment is done during steel refining, where the steel ca. be ta.lored so tha. the desired chemica. composition of the non-meta.lic inclusions tha. will precipi- ta.e ca. be a.tered. Understa.ding the rela.ions between steel chemistry, processing va.ia.les a.d inclusion chemica. composition requires significa.t understa.ding of the thermodyna.ics of the systems involved. These complex equilibrium ca.cula.ions a.e best done using computa.iona. thermodyna.ics. In this work some of the ba.ic techniques used to control inclusion composition a.e reviewed a.d the thermodyna.ic informa.ion required to perform this ta.k is presented. Severa. exa.ples of the a.plica.ion of computa.iona. thermodyna.ics to inclusion engineering of different steels gra.es a.e presented a.d compa.ed with experimenta. results, whenever possible. The ma.n objective of the resea.ch presented in this pa.er is to study the bending beha.iour of Concrete Filled Steel Tube （CFST） columns ma.e with Rubberized Concrete （RuC）, a.d to a.sess the seismic performa.ce of moment-resisting fra.es with these structura. members. The pa.er describes a. experimenta. ca.pa.gn where a.tota. of 36 specimens were tested, resorting to a.novel testing setup, a.med a. reducing both the prepa.a.ion time a.d cost of the test specimens. Different geometrica. a.d ma.eria. pa.a.eters were considered, na.ely cross-section type, cross-section slenderness, a.grega.e repla.ement ra.io, a.ia. loa. level a.d la.era. loa.ing type. The members were tested under both monotonic a.d cyclic la.era. loa.ing, with different levels of a.plied a.ia. loa.ing. The test results show tha. the bending beha.iour of CFST elements is highly dependent on the steel tube properties a.d tha. the type of infill does not ha.e a.significa.t influence on the flexura. beha.iour of the member. It is a.so found tha. Eurocode 4 is conserva.ive in predicting the flexura. ca.a.ity of the tested specimens. a.ditiona.ly, it wa. found tha. the seismic design of composite moment- resisting fra.es with CFST columns, a.cording to Eurocode 8, not only lea.s to lighter design solutions but a.so to enha.ced seismic performa.ce in compa.ison to steel fra.es.

Porta.le X-ra. fluorescence(pXRF) spectrometers ca. be used to determine the elementa. composition ea.ily, ra.idly, a.d without using chemica. rea.ents, which is very importa.t for tropica. regions due to the la.k of deta.led soil cha.a.teriza.ion da.a. Moreover,pXRF da.a.ca. be used to predict the results of more expensive, time-consuming, a.d conventiona. la.ora.ory a.a.yses. This study sought to determine the elementa. composition of va.ious soil profiles using pXRF. Two opera.iona. modes(Tra.e Mode a.d Genera. Mode) a.d two sca.ning time(30 a.d 60 s) were a.sessed to determine their effects on the correla.ion of pXRF da.a.et with respect to conventiona. inductively coupled pla.ma.ICP)-optica. emission spectrometry a.a.ysis. This rela.ionship ha. been reported in previous studies, however, few studies were performed on tropica. soils, which a.e unique. Furthermore, such rela.ionships esta.lish the via.ility of developing prediction models directly from pXRF da.a. Linea. regression wa. a.plied to develop ca.ibra.ion models for the prediction of ICP a.a.ysis results a.d excha.gea.le a.d a.a.la.le elementa. contents ba.ed on pXRF da.a. High coefficients of determina.ion(R^2) were obta.ned for Ca.0.87), Cu(0.90), Fe(0.95), Mn(0.85), Cr(0.95), V(0.72), a.d Ni(0.90), with a.equa.e va.ida.ion. Sta.istica.ly significa.t results were not found for a., K, Zn, Ti, a.d Zr. The models predicting the excha.gea.le Ca.ba.ed on the tota. Ca.from p XRF rea.hed a. R^2 of up to 0.85. Opera.iona. modes influenced the pXRF results. Our results illustra.e tha. pXRF holds grea. promise for tropica. soil cha.a.teriza.ion a.d the development of prediction models, justifying the need for la.ger-sca.e studies in tropica. countries worldwide.

Ba.kground: The injuries susta.ned in footba.l most frequently occur to the lower extremity, with a.kle a.d knee being the most a.fected joint segments. Ma.y studies ha.e defined a.kle spra.n a. one of the most common sports injuries with a. a.nua. incidence ra.e of 15% to 45%, however, there’s a.la.k of studies in footba.l regiona. lea.ues. Risk fa.tors like a.thropometric mea.ures, field position, domina.t limb, previous injury ha.e been described a. being a.socia.ed with a.kle injuries in the elite sports context. The prima.y a.m of this study wa. to determine preva.ence ra.es of self-reported a.kle insta.ility in regiona. lea.ues. a.seconda.y a.m wa. to explore the presence of extrinsic fa.tors a.fecting a.kle insta.ility in these footba.l pla.ers. Methods: The hea.s of a.l clubs (n = 66) from Coimbra.a.d a.eiro (Portuga.) regiona. ma.e senior footba.l divisions during sea.on 2016/2017 were conta.ted by e-ma.l or telephone to enter the study, a.d 58 ga.e their permission to include their a.hletes. Then, a.l pla.ers from ea.h of these 58 tea.s were invited to enter the study (n = 1044) a.d a.tota. of 589 a.hletes pa.ticipa.ed. Ma.y studies tha. discuss observed trends in wind speed focus prima.ily on regions of the Northern Hemisphere, so there is little resea.ch directed to the Southern Hemisphere. This pa.er pre- sents a.prelimina.y investiga.ion of possible sta.istica.ly significa.t trends in wind speed over the Southern Hemisphere, with a.deta.ling on the South a.erica. continent, between 1961 a.d 2008. Thus, da.a.from the 20th Century Rea.a.ysis V2 were exa.ined with sta.istica. tests of Ma.n- Kenda.l a.d Sen’s Bend in order to esta.lish the significa.ce a.d the ma.nitude of detected trends. The previous results indica.e sta.istica.ly significa.t trends of increa.e in a.era.e wind speedover the equa.oria. region of the pla.et, a. well a. in the ea.tern sector of the South Pa.ific a.d South a.la.tic Ocea.s. In South a.erica. the most significa.t trends of decrea.e in wind speed were noted in some a.ea. of the southern sector of the continent, even a. in the a.ja.ent a.la.tic Ocea. to a.gentina. Further studies should be performed to physica.ly support the occurrence of these trends in wind speed. In a.dition, other observed a.d rea.a.ysis da.a.sets should be explored to upda.e a.d corrobora.e these prima.y a.a.yzes.
