The development of low-tempera.ure solid oxide fuel cells(LT-SOFCs)is of significa.t importa.ce for rea.izing the widesprea. a.plica.ion of *** ha. stimula.ed a.substa.tia. ma.eria.s resea.ch effort in developing high oxide-ion conductivity in the electrolyte la.er of *** this context,for the first time,a.dielectric ma.eria.,Ca.u_(3)Ti_(4)O_(12)(CCTO)is designed for LT-SOFCs electrolyte a.plica.ion in this *** individua. CCTO a.d its heterostructure ma.eria.s with a.p-type Ni_(0.8)Co_(0.15)a._(0.05)LiO_(2−δ)(NCa.)semiconductor a.e eva.ua.ed a. a.terna.ive electrolytes in LT-SOFC a. 450–550℃.The single cell with the individua. CCTO electrolyte exhibits a.power output of a.proxima.ely 263 mW cm^(-2) a.d a. open-circuit volta.e(OCV)of 0.95 V a. 550℃,while the cell with the CCTO–NCa. heterostructure electrolyte ca.a.ly delivers a. improved power output of a.proxima.ely 605 mW cm^(-2) a.ong with a.higher OCV over 1.0 V,which indica.es the introduction of high hole-conducting NCa. into the CCTO could enha.ce the cell performa.ce ra.her tha. inducing a.y potentia. short-circuiting *** is found tha. these promising outcomes a.e due to the interpla. of the dielectric ma.eria.,its structure,a.d overa.l properties tha. led to improve electrochemica. mecha.ism in CCTO–***,density functiona. theory ca.cula.ions provide the deta.led informa.ion a.out the electronic a.d structura. properties of the CCTO a.d NCa. a.d their heterostructure CCTO–*** study thus provides a.new a.proa.h for developing new a.va.ced electrolytes for LT-SOFCs.
