Background and Aim: HCV genotypes have been documented in clinical *** goal of this study is to learn viral replication capacity of different HCV genotypes in human ***: 4.1 otherwise healthy Chinese blood donors with positive HCV antibody reaction were employed in the *** subjects were not being treated with antiviral drugs *** genotyping was determined followed by serum viral load *** antibody reaction against HCV Core,NS3,NS4.and NS5 epitope antigens was analyzed,respectively,for each of the ***: Genotyping analysis showed that among these individuals 6.7% was infected with genotype 1a,4..5% with 1b,36.0% with 2a,6.7% with 2b,2.6% with 3a,1.8% with 3b,2.4. with 6 and 2.0% *** 1b and 2a were the predominant ones in this Chinese cohort,causing 77.6% HCV *** the genotype groups,individuals infected with genotype 2a had a HCV RNA viral load （108copies/ml） over 100-fold （2.3log） higher than that infected with other genotypes （104.105copies/ml）,indicating a replication priority of genotype *** is no correlation between HCV genotype and antibody response against HCV Core,NS3,NS4.and NS5 epitope *** appears that the amplification advantage of genotype 2a results from its nature of favorable interaction with host cellular ***: HCV genotype 1b and 2a are both the predominant genotypes in china;of the seven HCV subtypes analyzed genotype 2a possesses a significant replication priority in this Chinese cohort.

Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone in northeastern South china Sea inferred from geophysical interpretations

A segment of Mesozoic subduction-accretion zone was inferred across thenortheastern South china Sea at approximately NE4.0 orientation. Basic evidence includes thefollowing: A belt of peek gross horizontal Bouguer gravity gradient (PGHGBA) is comparable in sizeand intensity to that of the Manila subduction-accretion zone. A belt of high positive magneticanomalies appears to the north and sub-parallel to the PGHGBA, representing the volcanic arcassociated to the subduction zone. The PGHGBA crosses obliquely both Cenozoic structures and presentseafloor topography, indicating a pre-Cenozoic age. The segment is offset left-laterally byNW-running strike-slip faults, in concord with the Mesozoic stress field of South china. Inaddition, the existence of the subduction zone is supported by wide-angle seismic data obtained indifferent years by different institutions. At approximate localities, a north-dipping ramp of Mohosurface is indicated by records of ocean-bottom seismometers, and a strong reflector about 8 kmbeneath the Moho reflector is indicated by both OBS and long-cable seismic records. Theidentification of a segment of Mesozoic subduction zone in NE South china Sea fills nicely the gapof the Great Late Mesozoic Circum SE Asia Subduction-acrretion Zone, which extended from Sumatra,Java, SE Kalimantan to N Palawan, and from Taiwan, Ryukyu to SW Japan.

A new Paphiopedilum entity found in southern guangdong was studied taxonomically by means of internal transcribed spacer of nuclear ribosomal DNA analysis in addition to morphological and phytogeographical *** entity is similar to Paphiopedilum gratrixianum(Masters)Rolfe morphologically,from which it differs by having narrower leaves not wider than 2 cm and lacking purple spots toward abaxial base,pale green dorsal sepal veined with pale purplish brown and not heavily spotted with purple,and staminode subtruncate and mucronate at *** analysis of internal transcribed spacer sequences of this entity and its allies came to the same conclusion that the entity is a member of Paphiopedilum section Paphiopedilum and closely related to but distinct from *** a result,it is treated here as a new species,Paphiopedilum guangdongense ***&***.

Aiming at the shortcomings of the existing wedgelet compression arithmetics, a novel contour-representing algorithm based on wedgelets is presented in this paper. Firstly the input image is binarized and the most optimized wedgelets are found by means of quadtree framework. Then the contours are reconstructed by applying the wedgelets, the data volume is compressed, and the shortcomings of the contour representation based on normal wavelet are ameliorated, the better effect for the visualization is obtained, too.

Dual fluorescence in situ hybridization in detection of HER-2 oncogene amplification in primary hepatocellular carcinoma

BACKGROUND: Molecular cytogenetics of oncogene HER-2 amplification in primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unknown. The aim of this study was to in vestigate the frequency of HER-2 oncogene amplification in primary HCC and its relations to clinicopathological pa rameters and prognosis. METHODS: Forty-two surgical samples from patients with primary HCC were detected for their HER-2 oncogene am plification. The number of chromosome 17 and their ratio were tested by dual fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique, and then the correlations between HER-2 amplification, clinicopathological characteristics and prog nosis were analyzed statistically. RESULTS: HER-2 oncogene amplification was detected in 9 (21.4.) of the 4. primary HCCs, including 4.patient with high copy (HC) (9.5%) and 5 patients with low copy (LC) (11.9%). HER-2 amplification was associated signifi cantly with tumor size and postoperative survival time o HCC patients (P0.05). The HER-2 oncogene copy was exa mined in 31 (73.8%) of the 4. primary HCCs, consisting of 9 patients with HER-2 amplification (21.4.) and 22 pa tients with aneuploidy (52.4.). No significant relation were observed between the HER-2 oncogene copy, patien sex, tumor size, histopathological grading, clinical stag ing, postoperative relapse and survival time (P >0.05); bu the HER-2 oncogene copy was correlated significantly to age, AFP level and HBV infection (P <0.05). CONCLUSIONS: There are a lower frequency of HER-2 oncogene amplification and a higher frequency of chromo- some 17 aneuploidy in primary HCC. HER-2 oncogene amplification may be involved in the development and pro- gression of large HCC in some patients, and seems to be a valuably independent prognostic factor predicting the r

Abnormal lipid levels, indicative of dyslipidemia,have risen significantly, posing a risk for cardiovascular diseases. Despite efforts, many patients struggle to achieve target lipid levels, necessitating improved treatment strategies. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus affect millions of adults in china,with long-term complications adding to the disease burden. Early intervention and effective management are crucial to mitigate its impact. Prevalent among older adults, chronic kidney disease is associated with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases, necessitating comprehensive management approaches. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome, characterized by a cluster of risk factors, has increased in both adults and adolescents, calling for lifestyle modifications and public health interventions. Ambient and household air pollution remain significant environmental risk factors, despite some improvements in air quality. Continued efforts to reduce emissions are essential for mitigating associated health risks. Addressing these risk factors requires a multifaceted approach, including public health initiatives, policy interventions, and individual-level strategies to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce environmental exposures. BACKGROUND: The inoculation of plasmid DNA encod-ing tumor-associated antigens is a novel and powerful stra-tegy for antitumor vaccination. This study was designed toconstruct the DNA vaccine of mouse AFP and to observethe specific cellular immunologic responses and the antitu-mor responses in mice induced by this ***: The murine AFP gene was amplified by RT-PCR from total RNA extracted from Hepal-6 cells andcloned into the vector pcDNA3.1 to construct *** DNA vaccine was identified by restriction enzymeanalysis, sequencing and expression. EL-4.( mAFP) wasdeveloped by stable transfection of EL-4.cells with *** frequency of cells producing IFN-γ in splenocytes har-vested from the mice immunized with the DNA vaccine byintramuscular injection was measured by enzyme linkedimmunospot (ELISPOT). The mice immunized with theDNA vaccine were inoculated with EL-4.(mAFP) cells inback to observe the inhibitory effect of the immunizationon tumor. On the other hand, blood samples were collect-ed from the immunized mice to check the functions of theliver and ***: The murine AFP gene was successfully clonedby RT-PCR. Results from restriction enzyme analysis, se-quencing and expression showed that the DNA vaccine wassuccessfully constructed. The expression of mAFP mRNAin EL-4.(mAFP) was confirmed by RT-PCR. The resultsof ELISPOT showed that the number of IFN-γ-producingcells of the pmAFP vaccine group was significantly higherthan that of other groups (P 4.. 4. ± 123. 71 mm3 ) wassignificantly smaller than that in other groups (P<0.01).The function of mouse liver and kidney in each group ***: The successfully constructed DNA vaccineof AFP can induce specific cellular immunologic responsesand significant antitumor reponses in mouse and has no im-pact on the function of mouse liver and kindey.

A new pollination mechanism is reported of an orchid species,Bulbophyllum penicillium,based on a field observation in Southeast Yunnan of *** species has a sensitive lip,and there is a distance of 2-3 mm between it and column *** the lip is touched by a landing insect,it will move up and down or swing left and right continuously,just like a moving *** suck a lip movement,the pollinator,a very small fruit fly (Drosophila sp.) ca.1 mm in height,will be pressed toward the column apex where anther and stigma are located,and then cross-pollination takes *** unique mode of pollination,depending on the movement of lip rather than insect itself,has never been found before in either Orchidaceae or other families of angiosperms.

Simulation of 1991-2005 Meiyu seasons in the Yangtze-Huaihe region using BCC_RegCM 1.0

By using BCC_RegCM 1.0 (RegCM for short) from Beijing Climate center (BCC), china Meteorological Administration (CMA), the Meiyu season characters over the Yangtze-Huaihe region during 1991-2005 are simulated. The major conclusions of this study may be summarized as the following: (1) RegCM can reproduce the interannual variation and the spatial distribution of the summertime precipitation and temperature in the Yangtze-Huaihe region. (2) By use of a generalized Meiyu criterion and in accordance with model-calculated precipitation and temperature, the Meiyu onset and ending date have been determined. Compared with the observation, RegCM can simulate the interannual variation of the Yangtze-Huaihe Meiyu with preferable capability for most of the normal Meiyu years (such as 1995, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004., especially for the rich Meiyu years of 1996, 1998 and 1999. (3) In terms of the average simulation for the recent 15 years, the timings of onset and ending of Meiyu occur on June 1 and July 13, respectively, which are earlier than the climatological observation. For duration, Meiyu persists for 32 d, 3 d shorter than the observation. The index of Meiyu intensity is 2.4., while the climatological one is 3.00. Therefore, RegCM is capable of simulating the climatological Meiyu duration and intensity, while the capability of simulating the onset and ending date of Meiyu still needs to be improved.
