A 1063 bp cDNA clone encoding a putative 37 kDa laminin receptor precursor (37 kDa LRP) is isolated from the mantle tissue of pearl oyster,Pinctada fucata. The amino acid sequence predicted from the cDNA sequence is 301 residues long,with a calculated molec-ular mass of 33.5 kDa. RT-PCR analysis shows that 37 kDa LRP mRNA is especially highly expressed in the mantle while widely expressed in several tissues. In situ hybridization analysis reveals that 37 kDa LRP is expressed in the outer epithelial cells of the mantle edge,suggesting its involvement in cell proliferation and secretion in P. fucata. The identification and characterization of 37 kDa LRP in the pearl oyster will help us to further understand the signal transduction in the processes of mantle epithelial cell proliferation and tissue formation.

In this paper, a fuzzy dynamic characteristic modeling and adaptive control method is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems. By employing fuzzy dynamic characteristic model, the controlled plant is described as a slowly time-varying fuzzy system, wherein the parameters are estimated online by using recursive Least-Squares algorithm. Under this framework, a fuzzy adaptive controller is constructed, and the stability condition of the closed-loop system is also derived. The main advantage of the proposed method lies in no requirement for the prior knowledge of system model and less parameters to tune, which allows engineers to operate it in a simple, straightforward manner. The proposed method is applied to the control of hypersonic vehicle, and simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Rotation symmetric Boolean functions (RSBFs) have been used as components of different cryptosystems. This class of functions are invariant under circular translation of indices. In this paper, we investigated balanced RSBFs and 1st order correlation immune RSBFs. Based on constructive techniques, we give an accurate enumeration formula for n-variable balanced RSBFs when n is a power of a prime. Furthermore, an original and efficient method to enumerate all n-variable (n prime) 1st order correlationimmune functions is presented. The exact number of 1st order correlation immune RSBFs with 11 variables is 6925047156550478825225250374129764511077684773805520800 and the number of 13 variables has 189 digits. Then for more variables, we also provide a significant lower bound on the number of 1st order correlation immune RSBFs.

A neural-network-based adaptive variable structure control methodology isproposed for the tracking problem of nonlinear discrete-time input-output systems. The unknowndynamics of the system are approximated via radial basis function neural networks. The control lawis based on sliding modes and simple to implement. The discrete-time adaptive law for tuning theweight of neural networks is presented using the adaptive filtering algorithm with residueupper-bound compensation. The application of the proposed controller to engine idle speed controldesign is discussed. The results indicate the validation and effectiveness of this approach.

A six-state quantum key distribution scheme with measuring-basis encryption technique, which is based on the six-state protocol and the MBE protocol, is proposed. In this modified six-state quantum key distribution protocol, Alice and Bob use a control key to synchronize the use of their measuring-basis so that they always use the same measuring-basis. This modified six-state quantum key distribution protocol retains the advantage of higher security and at the same time has a higher efficiency.

The expression of inducible genes in plants is regulated by specific transcription factors at the transcrip-tional level. A typical transcription factor usually contains a DNA-binding domain, a transcription regulation domain, a dimerization site and a nuclear localization domain. These functional domains define the characteristic, localization and regulatory role of a transcription factor. Transcription factors recognize and bind to specific cis-acting elements or interact with other proteins, and then activate or repress the transcription of target genes by their functional domains. In recent years, elucidation on the structure and function of transcription factors has become an important subject in plant molecular biology.

Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) is a key block used as the phase/frequency detector in an All-Digital Phase-Locked Loop (ADPLL). Usually, it occupies a large proportion of ADPLL's total power consumption up to about 30% to 40%. In this paper, the detailed power consumption of different components in the TDC is analyzed. A Power Management Block (PMB) is presented for the TDC to reduce its power consumption. A 24-bits TDC core with the proposed PMB is implemented in HJTC 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Simulation results show that up to 84% power reduction is achieved using our proposed technique.

This study addresses the design of an output-feedback H-infinity and fuzzy mixed controller for an advanced vertical and/or short take-off and landing aircraft that exhibits satisfactory global stability criteria. A fuzzy logic based optimization approach is employed to solve autonomously the constrained control allocation problem by suitably adjusting the components of the output vector and finding a proper vector in the attainable moment set. Simulations show that the designed fuzzy controller is better suited to resist external disturbances, and is robust against parameter perturbations.

The degradation of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) by using gamma rays generated by a 60Co source in the presence of O3 was investigated. The radiolysis of 4-CP and the kinetics of 4-CP min-eralization were analyzed based on the determination of total organic carbon (TOC). The influence of initial 4-CP concentration and the free radicals scavengers (such as NaHCO3 and t-butanol) on the 4-CP degradation was also studied. The results showed that when the radiation rate was 336 Gy·min?1, 4-chlorophenol at concentration of 10 mg·L?1 could be completely degraded at the radiation dose of 2 kGy. The degradation of 4-chlorophenol could be described by a first-order reaction model, the rate constant of 4-CP degradation by combined ozonation and radiation was 0.1016 min?1, which was 2.4 times higher than the sum of radiation (0.0294 min?1) and ozonation (0.0137 min?1). It re-vealed that the combination of radiation and ozonation resulted in synergistic effect, which can re-markably increase the degradation efficiency of 4-CP.
