Eclogites in the interior of the Tibetan Plateau and their geodynamic implications

Eclogites have been recently reported in the interior of the Tibetan Plateau, including in the central Qiangtang metamorphic belt, in the Basu metamorphic massif of the eastern Bangong-Nujiang suture zone, and at Songdo and Pengco in the eastern Lhasa terrane. Some typical ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) metamorphic phenomena, e.g., garnet exsolution from clinopyroxene, were documented in the Basu and Pengco eclogites. The UHP metamorphism in the interior of the Tibetan Plateau marked by these eclogites generally took place in the Early Mesozoic. Along with exhumation of these eclogites, (post-) collision-related magmatism extensively occurred around the central Qiangtang belt, the eastern Ban-gong-Nujiang suture zone, and the eastern Lhasa terrane. The occurrence of these Early Mesozoic ec-logites manifests an out-of-sequence evolution of the Tethys, and they could be a product of diachro-nous collision between the eastern Qiangtang terrane and the irregular continental margin of the united western Qiangtang-Lhasa plate, along the linked eastern Bangong-Nujiang-central Qiangtang zone. The collision-related magmatic rocks could have been originated from lithospheric thickening, melting, or detachment due to the collision. The presence of UHP metamorphic rocks in central Qiangtang and Basu implies likely continental deep-subduction, and the denudation of these two metamorphic zones could have served as the source of the Triassic turbidites in the Songpan-Garzê complex and the Ju-rassic turbidites in the western Bangong-Nujiang zone, respectively. However, studies of the eclogites in the interior of the Tibetan Plateau just began, and many principal aspects still remain to be explored, such as their distributions, typical lithologies and minerals, temperature-pressure conditions, timing of formation and exhumation, protoliths and tectonic setting, and relationship with the evolution of the Tethys and large-scale basins in Tibet.

An efficient quantum secret sharing protocol with orthogonal product states in the 3.3.Hilbert space is presented. The particles in the orthogonal product states form two particle sequences. One sequence is sent to Bob and the other is sent to Charlie after rearranging the particle orders. With the help of Alice, Bob and Charlie make the corresponding local measurement to obtain the information of the or- thogonal product states prepared. This protocol has many distinct features such as great capacity and high efficiency.

A 6-year long GPS observation (1998—2003. indicates that crustal deformation in the Three Gorges area is less active at a marginally measurable rate of 0—5 mm/a relative to stable South china block. However, the impounding water in June 2003.has induced transient displacement at the Three Gorges dam and the emerging reservoir. GPS measurements after the first stage of water filling of the reservoir demonstrate that vertical subsidence close by Yangtze River is about 10—40 mm, and the horizontal displacement is less than 5—10 mm. The maximum subsidence induced by the impoundment is located in the segment of the reservoir from Maoping to Xiangxi. The water loading-induced deformation diminishes rapidly with the distance from banks of the reservoir. The overall pattern of transient deformation is consistent with the simulation result of Farrell, and is attributed to the elastic response of upper lithosphere crust to overlying water reservoir.

The relationship between fluid density and saturation and sonic wave velocity of rock samples taken from the WXS Depression in the South china Sea was studied by an oil-water replacement experiment under simulated in-situ temperature and pressure *** kinds of low-density oils（0.691 and 0.749 g/cm^3. and two kinds of high-density oils（0.83. and 0.873.g/cm^3. were used to saturate the rock samples at different oil-saturation states,and the saturated P- and S-wave velocities were *** Gassmann＇s equation,the theoretical P- and S-wave velocities were also calculated by the fluid replacement *** the comparison of the measured values and the theoretical values, this study comes to the following conclusions.（1） With the increase of oil saturation and the decrease of water saturation,the P-wave velocity of rock samples saturated by low-density oil increases and the changing rule is in accord with the effective fluid theory;the P-wave velocity of rock samples saturated by high-density oil decreases and the changing rule goes against the theory.（2） With the increase of oil density（namely 0.691→0.749→0.83.→0.873.g/cm^3. when oil saturation is unchanged,P-wave velocity increases gradually.（3. The S-wave velocity is always stable and is not affected by the change of oil density and *** results can be used to constrain pre-stack seismic inversion,and the variation rule of sonic wave velocity is valuable for hydrocarbon identification in the study area.

Reconstruction of precipitation variation from tree rings in recent 1000 years in Delingha, Qinghai

Using seven well-replicated Qilian juniper (Sabina przewalskii Kom.) ring-width chronologies developed at Zongwulong and Shalike Mts. in the northeastern part of the Qaidam Basin annual precipitation from previous July to current June in the recent 1000 years was re- constructed for Delingha. The reconstruction can capture 63.1% of precipitation variance and the equation was stable over time. For the reconstructed precipitation, wet periods occurred in AD1520—163. and 193.—2001, whereas dry intervals in 1429—1519 and 163.—1741. In ad- dition, the magnitude in precipitation variation was lower before 143. with about 15 mm, but it increased to 3. mm during the period of 143. to 1850. After 1850, the precipitation variance de- creased again. In contrast to the increase in temperature, a decrease in annual precipitation was evident since the 1990s. The agreement in low-frequency variation between the reconstruction and the glacier accumulation and particulate content in Dunde ice cores during the recent several hundred years suggested that the precipitation reconstructed in this study was rather reliable, and represented a regional signal. This 1000-year reconstruction could benefit our understanding of climatic variation in decadal to century-scale in this region, and provide basic data to climate models and to prediction of future climate in the 21st century.

Climate proxies, such as total organic carbon and nitrogen (TOC, TN), carbonate content (CaCO3., grain-size and pollen of the sediment core retrieved from enclosed Lake Daihai which lies in the north china environment sensitive zone are analyzed to reconstruct the environment evolution of the area based on high-resolution radiocarbon chronology. The results reveal that the TOC and TN contents of the sediments correlate well with pollen percentage and pollen flux variations during the Holocene, and both reach their peak values simultaneously at 6.7―3.5 ka BP (calendar age, 7.6―3.6 ka BP). Since 6.7 ka BP, both the CaCO3.and organic matter contents of the core have simultaneous variations, and their high values also occur during 6.7―3.5 ka BP. While during 9.0―6.7 ka BP (calendar age, 10―7.6 ka BP) relatively lower level of organic matter content and pollen flux corre- spond to the higher level of carbonate content. The above relations suggest that during 6.7―3.5 ka BP, the productivity and effective precipitation were greatly improved in the lake drainage area, and this would probably strengthen the hydrodynamic conditions, enhancing organic matter, pollen and carbonate inputs from terrestrial sources. Such processes would account for the enrichment of both organic matter and carbonate in the sediments. While during 9.0―6.7 ka BP, the lower level of or- ganic matter, pollen flux but high carbonate content show depressed productivity and declined vege- tation coverage. The higher carbonate content at this stage would have probably resulted from the higher evaporation ratio of the lake water under relatively drier climate conditions. Therefore, it is in- ferred that during 6.7―3.5 ka BP, the climate was more humid with abundant rainfalls and vegetation was more flourishing in the Lake Daihai area. This can be seen as Holocene Climate Optimum (HCO). As a result, this has evident discrepancies with the traditional notion that the HCO occurs at Early Holocene or early Mid

A series of 1D nickel(II)/zinc(II)-lanthanide(III) coordination polymers, [M(μ-L)2Ln(NO3.3.n·solvents (HL = bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amine; M = Ni, Ln = Gd (1·NiGd), Tb (2·NiTb), Dy (3.NiDy), Ho (4·NiHo), Y (5·NiY); M = Zn, Ln = Gd (6·ZnGd), Tb (7·ZnTb), Dy (8·ZnDy), Ho (9·ZnHo); solvents = H2O or H2O-ethanol), was synthesized and characterized. All of the complexes are isostructural at 293.K and crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Fddd. Magnetic measurements were performed on 1―9, where weak ferromagnetic interaction is found in 1·NiGd, ferromagnetic interaction in 2·NiTb and 3.NiDy, and antiferromagnetic interaction in 4·NiHo. A remarkable dc magnetic field dependence of ac susceptibilities was found in this series of complexes.

In this article, we discuss several properties of the basic contact process on hexagonal lattice H, showing that it behaves quite similar to the process on d-dimensional lattice Zd in many aspects. Firstly, we construct a coupling between the contact process on hexagonal lattice and the oriented percolation, and prove an equivalent finite space-time condition for the survival of the process. Secondly, we show the complete convergence theorem and the polynomial growth hold for the contact process on hexagonal lattice. Finally, we prove exponential bounds in the supercritical case and exponential decay rates in the subcritical case of the process.
