fMRI time series analysis based on stationary wavelet and spectrum analysis

The low signal to noise ratio (SNR) of functional MRI (fMRI) prefers more sensitive data analysis methods. Based on stationary wavelet transform and spectrum analysis, a new method with high detective sensitivity was developed for analyzing fMRI time series, which does not require any prior assumption of the characteristics of noises. In the proposed method, every component of fMRI time series in the different time-frequency scales of stationary wavelet transform was discerned by the spectrum analysis, then the components from noises were removed using the stationary wavelet transform, finally the components of real brain activation were detected by cross-correlation analysis. The results obtained from both simulated and in vivo visual experiments illustrated that the proposed method has much higher sensitivity than the traditional cross-correlation method.

Preparation of Pt/K_2.a_2.i_3._(10) and its photo-catalytic activity for hydrogen evolution from methanol water solution

A layered perovskite-type oxide K2.a2.i3.10 was prepared with high-temperature solid-state reaction, and characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and ultraviolet-visible diffuse re-flectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis DRS). Platinum was loaded onto K2.a2.i3.10 as a co-catalyst with different methods. The dispersion of platinum on K2.a2.i3.10 was determined with HOT method. The photocatalytic activity of Pt/K2.a2.i3.10 was studied. This catalyst showed much higher activity in hydrogen evolution reaction than Ni/K2.a2.i3.10. The effects of different amounts of loaded platinum and several preparation methods were evaluated. The best achieved hydrogen evolution rate was 2.3.88 μmol·h?1 by Pt(2.)/K2.a2.i3.10. A possible band structure and mechanism were discussed based on the results.

A natural hybrid species in Petrocosmea named Longianthera in Yanshan County,Yunnan Province is confirmed for the first time based on molecular and morphological *** character count procedure of the variable characters show that Longianthera populations are characteristic of the intermediate morphological traits between its putative parents Yanshan and Petrocosmea *** nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer region and three chloroplast regions of matK,trnL-F,and trnT-L are sequenced in the putative hybrid and the related *** alignment of DNA sequences and the phylogenetic trees could exclude all the other species in Petrocosmea as the parental species except for Yanshan and *** haplotypes in the 3. internal transcribed spacer sequences and six haplotypes in 42.cpDNA sequences were found from 14 individuals of Longianthera *** analyses of DNA sequences,haplotypes,and phylogenetic trees indicate that Longianthera is likely a hybrid species between its putative parents Yanshan and ***,in which Yanshan might be the most possible maternal *** factors may contribute to the natural hybridization between these two parental species in Petrocosmea,such as the overlapped geographic distribution,habitats,flowering periods,and shared ***,the new species of Yanshan and the natural hybrid species of Longianthera are described.

Transparent γ-LiAlO2.single crystal has been grown by Temperature Gradient technique. The surface of the wafer annealed in O2.atmosphere at 1100°C for 70 h became opaque and Li-poor phase (LiAl5O8); while, that annealed in Li-rich atmosphere kept transparent and smooth. The full-width at half maximum value dropped to 3. arcsecs when the wafer was annealed in Li-rich atmosphere. That annealed in O2.atmosphere increased to 78 arcsec. Compared with absorption spectra, we can conclude that the 196 nm absorption peak was caused by Li vacancies and the 73. nm peak was caused by O vacancies.

Effects of various solar indices on accuracy of Earth’s thermospheric neutral density models

Four kinds of solar indices F10.7, E10.7, S10, Mg10 and four thermospheric neutral density models, i.e., CIRA72. DTM94, NRLMSISE00 and JB2.06, are discussed. The CHAMP accelerometer data are used to calculate thermospheric total mass density. Based on the comparison of the model densities with CHAMP observations, the effects of various indices on the model accuracy are detected. It is found that under quiet and moderate solar conditions (F10.72.0) the error’s standard deviation using E10.7 increases quickly and causes the models’ accuracy to fall down. With regard to S10, Mg10, their effects under quiet solar conditions are inconspicuous. If under active solar conditions, they can reduce the model error’s standard deviation by 5%-10%, implying that S10, Mg10 make the model error more stable. The JB2.06 model, which was constructed by multi-solar-index (F10.7, S10, Mg10), is compared with DTM94 and NRLMSISE00 based on single-solar-index. It is found that JB2.06’s accuracy is better than DTM94’s, and is close to NRLMSISE00 under the quiet solar condition. During the solar burst occurring on October 2., 2.03. JB2.06 has been in best agreement with CHAMP observations. All in all, the new indices may improve thermospheric density models’ accuracy under some special conditions. Concretely, E10.7 may reduce the average error of models and S10, Mg10 may prevent the error’s divergence.

Effects of isolation after sexual experience on anxiety-like, depressive-like behaviors and affective states in male rats

Studies on social isolation have provided evidence for an enhanced anxiety-like phenotype, depressive-like symptoms and higher levels of 2.-kHz ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs); whereas sexual experience could induce significant changes in affective states, decrease anxiety-and depressive-like responses. However, the behavioral and emotional alterations in male rats exposed to isolation after sexual experience remain poorly understood. Therefore, the present study examined anxiety-and depressive-like parameters, as well as USV emissions in male rats isolated for 1, 2. or 7 d following 1-week sexual (male-female paired housing) or social (male-male paired housing) interaction. Isolation for 1 d resulted in increased depressive-like symptoms, and 2.d isolation induced elevated anxiety-like behavior in sexually inexperienced rats, while rats with sexual experience exhibited comparable levels of emotionality at each isolation time. Moreover, isolated rats without sexual experience emitted less 2.-and 50-kHz USVs, but sexually experienced rats exhibited similar affective states compared with control ones. These results suggested that prior sexual experience could have a modulatory effect on experimental rat emotional responses to isolation.

Fenneropaeneus chinensis is an important species in marine fishery resources and aquaculture in china. A genetic linkage map is essential for improving the efficiency of its breeding by marker-as- sisted selection and identifying commercially important genes. Linkage maps of F. chinensis were constructed with an F2.mapping population (110 progenies) using amplified fragment length polymor- phic (AFLP) marker in this study. Fifty-five AFLP primer combinations produced 53.1}AFLP markers fitting for map strategy in mapping family. The markers with 3.1 segregating ratios were analyzed using F2.intercross model for the common linkage map, while the markers with 1:1 ratio were analyzed using the pseudo-testcross strategy. The maps of male, female and common were constructed. The female map included 103.markers that formed 2. linkage groups, covering a total length of 1090 cM. All mark- ers were linked with the linkage groups. Segregation distortion was observed for 6 of 103.markers in the female map. The average distance between markers was 14.53.cM and ranged from 4.4 to 2..8 cM. The male map included 144 markers that formed 3. linkage groups. Ten markers remained unlinked in male map. Segregation distortion was observed for 7 of 144 markers in the male map. The total dis- tance of male map covered 1617 cM. The average distance between markers was 16.3. cM. The male map was 3.1}6% longer than the female map, which may reflect sex-specific recombination rates in Chinese shrimp. The common map was composed of 2.6 markers, including in 44 linkage groups covering a total distance of 1772.1 cM. Two markers remained unlinked. No distorted markers of 2.6 markers were shown in the common map. The distance between markers was 10.42.cM. An average estimated genome size for the Chinese shrimp was 2.2. cM, which was consistent with the relative size of the Penaeid genome. The ecosystem in northeastern china and the Russian Far East is a hotspot of scientific research into the global carbon *** aboveground biomass(AGB) is an important component in the land surface carbon *** this study,using forest inventory data and forest distribution data,the AGB was estimated for forest in Daxinganlin in northeastern china by combining charge-coupled device(CCD) data from the Small Satellite for Disaster and Environment Monitoring and Forecast(HJ-1) and Geoscience Laser Altimeter System(GLAS) waveform data from the Ice,Cloud and land Elevation Satellite(ICESat).The forest AGB prediction models were separately developed for different forest types in the research area at GLAS footprint level from GLAS waveform parameters and field survey plot biomass in the Changqing(CQ) Forest Center,which was calculated from forest inventory *** resulted statistical regression models have a R2.0.68 for conifer and R2.0.71 for broadleaf *** models were used to estimate biomass for all GLAS footprints of forest located in the study *** GLAS footprint biomass coupled with various spectral reflectivity parameters and vegetation indices derived from HJ-1 satellite CCD data were used in multiple regression analyses to establish biomass prediction models(R2.0.55 and R2.0.52.for needle and broadleaf respectively).Then the models were used to produce a forest AGB map for the whole study area using the HJ-1 *** data obtained from forest inventory data of the Zhuanglin(ZL) Forest Center were used as independent field measurements to validate the AGB estimated from HJ-1 CCD data(R2.0.71).About 80% of biomass samples had an error less than 2. t ha-1,and the mean error of all validation samples is 5.74 t *** pixel-level biomass map was then stratified into different biomass levels to illustrate the AGB spatial distribution pattern in this *** was found that HJ-1 wide-swath data and GLAS waveform data can be combined to estim

Periodicity of Retzius lines in fossil Pongo from South china

Periodicity of Retzius lines is a key factor in dental development. In this study, we examined the periodicity of Retzius lines in fossil Pongo from South china using polarized light microscope observation of dental ground sections. The periodicities all of the 15 teeth were 9 d. Comparisons of periodicity were made with extant primates, fossil apes and hominins. Periodicity of fossil Pongo from South china was relatively long but fell within the variation of extant Pongo, Gorilla and modern human, and longer than periodicity of Pan and other extant primates. Fossil Pongo from South china was similar to Lufengpithecus and Sivapithecus, shorter than Gigantopithecus and longer than European and African fossil apes and most early hominins in periodicity. Generally, the periodicities of Asian large-body fossil apes were longer than the periodicities of European and African large-body fossil apes in Miocene. Difference among species and trend of evolution in periodicity were analyzed and discussed. We found that periodicity might gradually increase from Proconsul in early Miocene to several fossil apes in Miocene and then Gigantopithecus in Pleistocene. In addition, this study made correlate analysis between periodicity and body mass respectively in males and females of six extant apes and five fossil apes, and found that periodicity positively correlated with body mass.

Compositions of heavy minerals in Northeastern china sandlands and provenance analysis

Sand samples deposited since the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) from the Hulun Buir, Horqin and Otin-dag sandlands were measured for their assemblages of heavy minerals and chemical compositions of detrital garnets and tourmalines. Heavy mineral assemblages of these three sandlands consist mainly of garnet, ilmenite, epidote and minor amphibole and magnetite. Garnets consist mainly of high Mg type-A ones (58% on average), and minor type-B ones. Toumalines are mainly composed of Mg-rich and minor Fe-rich ones. Compared with those of central-southern Mongolia and central Tarim, these three sandlands are derived from the Phanerozoic rocks of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt and the Archean and Paleoprotorozoic basement rocks of the North china Craton. Our results provide direct evidence that the present-day sands may be reworked from LGM ones. Differences of heavy mineral composi-tions occur between the samples of the three sandlands and Taklimakan Desert, indicating that the material of the western arid regions contributes little to the eastern sandlands.
