An analysis on the evolvement processes of lake eutrophication and their characteristics of the typical lakes in the middle and lower reaches of yangtze River

According to the study on the aquatic environment of the typical lakes in the middle and lower reaches of yangtze River, lake eutrophication is a process in which the lake ecosystem degenerates, resulting in the deterioration of the water quality due to the enrichment of the nutrients. Moreover, the succession of lake ecosystem and change of water quality both couple well with the evolvement of tro- phic state. Then the conceptual model is mentioned and ten lake states are classified. Based on these, the authors analyzed the eutrophication processes of the typical lakes in the middle and lower reaches of yangtze River. The large lakes with taking in - send- ing out water typical of Poyang Lake evolve from State 1 before the 1980s into State 2 after the 1980s, the large and medium lakes typical of Taihu Lake evolve from State 1-2 in the 1960s into State 8 in the 1980s then into State 9 in the 1990s, the medium and small shallow lakes typical of Honghu Lake evolve from State 1 in the 1960s into State 2 after the 1980s and the small city (suburban) lakes typical of Donghu Lake evolve from State 2 in the 1960s into State 9 after the 1970s. Further, the 1980s is the key con- version period of the lakes of various types typical of Poyang Lake, Honghu Lake and Taihu Lake con- verting into mesotrophic state, the 1990s is that of Taihu Lake into eutrophic state and the 1970s is thatof the small city (suburban) lakes typical of Donghu Lake into eutrophic state. The series of nutrient evolvement of different typical lakes are similar, but the processes are not synchronous, which is related to the various human and natural driving mechanisms in lake basins.

The iterative method in functional analysis is applied to looking for asolution of the Poisson-Boltzmann equation in order to describe the problems of the distribution ofthe potentials in the electric double layer (EDL) inside the water pool for a cylindrical inversemicelle. Potentials as a function of the position of a particular point in EDL are computed, whichdisplay a quantitative agreement with those from earlier calculation of Debye and Huckel in the caseof low potentials. But it is also shown that in the higher-potential range the iterativecalculations can give more accurate results. These results indicate the utility of this functionalanalysis technique in the description of the properties of EDL for a cylindrical inverse micelle.

This paper reviews the recent progress in the electron transfer and interfacial behavior of redox proteins. Significant achievements in the relevant fields are summarized including the direct electron transfer between proteins and electrodes, the thermodynamic and kinetic properties, catalytic activities and activity regulation of the redox proteins. It has been demonstrated that the electrochemical technique is an effective tool for protein studies, especially for probing into the electron transfer and interfacial behavior of redox proteins.

A method to calculate and counterbalance the inertia force of slider-crank mechanisms in high-speed presses

A new method to calculate and counterbalance the inertia force of slider-crank mechanisms in high-speed mechanical presses was put forward. By analyzing the kinematic characteristics of a center-located slider-crank mechanism whose crank rotates at a constant angular velocity,the kinematic parameters of the slide,connecting rod and crank were formulated approximately. On the basis of the results above,three inertia forces and the input moment in the mechanism during its idle running were investigated and formulated by dynamic analysis. A verification experiment was performed on a slider-crank mechanism at a high-speed press machine. The forces derived from the established formulas were compared respectively with those obtained by the ADAMS software and the classical method of connecting rod mass substitution. It was experimentally found that the proposed formulas have an improved performance over related earlier techniques. By use of these results,a 1 000 kN 1 250 rpm four-point high-speed press machine was designed and manufactured. The slide of this press is driven by four sets of slider-crank mechanisms with symmetrical layout and opposite rotation directions to counterbalance the horizontal inertia forces. Four eccentric counterbalance blocks were designed to counterbalance the vertical force after their mass and equivalent eccentric radius were formulated. The high-speed press machine designed by the proposed counterbalance method has worked with satisfactory performance and good dynamic balance for more than four years in practical production.

In this paper,it is shown that the regular representation and regular covariant representation of the crossed products A×α G correspond to the twisted multiplicative unitary operators,where A is a Woronowicz C~*-algebra acted upon by a discrete group ***,it is also shown that the regular covariant C~*-algebra is the Woronowicz C~*-algebra which corresponds to a multiplicative ***,an explicit description of the multiplicative unitary operator for C(SU_q(2) )×α (?) is given in terms of those of the Woronowicz C~*-algebra C(SU_q(2) ) and the discrete group G.

Partial Rescue of pos5 Mutants by YEF1 and UTR1 Genes in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Let R be an integral domain of characteristic zero such that the corresponding group rings have block decompositions. We first prove that the submodule consisting of all the R-valued ξi-symmetric functions of several variables is a symmetry class, where ξi is any block character. Then we present a relationship among certain operators introduced for block character. Then we present a relationship among certain operators introduced for block characters. As a consequence, we obtain a decomposition of an arbitrary R-valued function of several variables. Finally, we describe the symmetry property of such summands and determine all the symmetry classes.

Analysis of the Resveratrol-binding Protein using Phage-displayed Random Peptide Library

Resveratrol,a plant polyphenol,is found in significant amounts in the skin of grapes and insome traditional *** is reported to exert different biological activities,such as inhibiting lipid peroxidation,scavenging free radicals,inhibiting platelet aggregation,and anticancer *** order to screen theresveratrol-binding proteins,we synthesized biotinylated resveratrol,purified by liquid chromatography andimmobilized it into streptavidin-coated microplate wells.3.(4,5-Demethylthiazol-)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazoliumbromide assay showed little change in the anticancer activity of biotinylated resveratrol in vitro.A randomlibrary of phage-displayed peptides was screened for binding to immobilized resveratrol to isolate resveratrol-binding *** peptides were found to bind to resveratrol specifically,which was proven byenzyme-linked immunosorbent *** amino acid sequence analysis of the selected peptides andhuman proteins using the BLAST program,the results showed that resveratrol has an affinity for variousproteins such as breast cancer-associated antigen,breast cancer resistance protein,death-associatedtranscription factor,and human cyclin-dependent *** results demonstrate that our study providesa feasible method for the study of binding proteins of natural compounds using a phage-displayed randompeptide library.

The role of aerial algae in the formation of the landscape of the Yunnan Stone Forest,Yunnan Province, china

Aerial algae on the surface of carbonate rocks at the Stone Forest, Shilin County, Yunnan Province, china, and their bioerosion were investigated in the field and studied in the laboratory in detail. Through the observation, identification and statistics of more than one hun- dred algal samples and rock samples with the optical microscopes (stereomicroscope, biological microscope) and the scanning electronic microscope (SEM), the relationships between erosional forms on the surface of the Stone Forest and algae and/or algal communities and the genetic mechanism for the formation of erosional forms were analyzed. It is suggested that aerial algae play an active role in bioerosive processes that may affect the formation of karst erosional forms. These effects include both direct and indirect ones. The direct effect is the initiative control (algal shape-controlling role) of algae on the formation of karst forms of various scales, mostly mi- cro-scale (3.) and minor-scale (10-3.10-1m) erosional forms. The algal shape-controlling roles can be divided into the algal individual shape-controlling role and the algal community shape-controlling role. The former mostly controls the formation of micro-scale erosional forms, while the latter mostly controls the formation of micro-scale and smaller minor-scale erosional forms. The indirect effect refers to the promoting role of algae in the formation of karst forms, which may affect the formation of karst forms of all types and scales. The bioerosion of algae accelerates the weathering process of the whole Stone Forest karst landforms.
