MINERALIZATION AGES OF GOLD-HYDROTHERMAL DEPOSITS IN NORTHERN ZONE OF EASTERN KUNLUN MOUNTAINS BASED ON FISSION TRACK ANALYSIS

The age of mineralization in a mining area is a primary factor in various researches related to ore\|forming process. It is that the uncertainty of mineralization ages of gold ore deposits in northern zone of eastern Kunlun Mountains, Qinghai Province, restrains to probe the relationship of the deposits to the regional tectonic evolution. This paper documents the fission track method used to determine the ages of gold ore deposits in eastern Kunlun Mountains and considers the implication for the origin of the *** Kunlun Mountains is the northern part of the Qinghai—Tibet Plateau and is of three deep\|seated fault belts in about EW extension. This work mainly includes three gold ore districts. All of them, in the north of Mid\|Kunlun fault belt, belong to northern part of eastern Kunlun Mountains. The Yanjingou district, with geographical coordinate 96°00’E and 3.°10’N, is located 60 km north of Hongqigou district . Both of them are large, typical tectonoalteration gold deposits and were formed in similar geological setting. Hongshuihe ore district is located 50 km east of Yanjingou district and includes tectonoalteration and magmatic cryptoexplosive gold deposits. Outcroped strata are dominantly Jinshuikou Group metamorphic rocks of Lower Proterozoic erathem. The occurrence area of igneous rocks, especially granitoid, accounts for about 90% in first two districts and become less in Hongshuihe district. The gold deposits occur in NW\|striking fault belts. The Rb\|Sr isochron age and K\|Ar isotopic age of Moyite relevant to the gold mineralization are respectively 228 25Ma and 207 1Ma. Rb\|Sr dating of diorite porphyrite is 209 09Ma. Sericite selected from Yanjingou orebody has 252 9Ma K\|Ar age. The ore in Hongqigou district has 197Ma K\|Ar age and 210Ma model age of Pb isotope of galena.

Multi-origin alkanes related to CO_2-rich, mantle-derived fluid in Dongying Sag, Bohai Bay Basin

With the newly obtained carbon isotope data for the natural gas, a pilot study of multiple-sourced alkanes related to the mantled-derived fluid is presented. The carbon isotope values of alkanes in the Dongying Sag possess the features indicating a general organic origin. However, there are two sub-populations in the isotopic data set, which reflect two specific types of origins. In general, the sub-population with high δ13.CH4 values is related to the CO2-rich, mantle-derived fluid, and it is distributed in the belts where mantle-derived fluid flow and basic volcanic activities have occurred. geological and geochemical studies demonstrate that this variation of methane carbon isotope values in the Dongying Sag is unrelated with the basin bury and thermal histories, types of source rocks, and reactions between basin fluid and rocks. Mixing of mantle-derived fluid and organic sourced hydrocarbons is probably the cause for the variation.

Mantle plume or superplume activities have often been invoked as a cause for the breakup of the Neoproterozoic supercontinent ***,associated Neoproterozoic continental flood basalts,a requisite product of mantle plume activities,have rarely been *** sensitive high-resolution ion microprobe(shrimp) U-Pb zircon ages,geochemical,and Hf-Nd isotopic data are reported here for the Bikou Group basalts,the largest Neoproterozoic volcanic units in the northwestern Yangtze block, South *** Bikou basalts are mainly tholeiitic in composition,and they can be stratigraphically subdivided into the lower and upper *** U-Pb zircon dating of intercalated rhyolites indicates that the lower and upper group basalts were erupted at 821±7 Ma and 811±12 Ma,respectively. The two basalt groups define two populations on most elemental and isotopic diagrams. The lower group basalts display strong subcontinental lithospheric mantle affinities and large variableεNd(t)) andεHf(t)) values that correlate negatively with Th/Ta and positively with *** upper group basalts,on the other hand,show ocean-island basalt(OIB) affinities and highly positiveεHf(t)) andεNd(t)) values. Numerical modeling indicates that the lower and upper group basalts were formed at melting temperatures of>13.0℃and>1450℃and mantle potential temperatures of 1400- 1488℃and 1550±3.℃,***, the upper group basalts were derived from an anomalously hot asthenosphere mantle,～160℃hotter than the contemporary ambient mid-ocean-ridge basalt(MORB) source *** results are at clear variance with the alternative tectonic model that the Bikou basalts were part of a continental magmatic *** work suggests that the Bikou basalts are likely the remnants of Neoproterozoic continental flood basalts that formed in response to a mantle plume starting ca.825 Ma during the breakup of the supercontinent Rodinia.

A combined procedure for separating Lu,Hf,Rb,Sr,Sm and Nd from a single sample digestion is presented in this *** procedure consists of the following four steps:(1) sample dissolution in a mixture of concentrated HF-HNO-HClO;(2) Lu and Hf separation from the Rb,Sr,LMREE and other matrix elements by HF-free extraction chromatography;(3. Rb,Sr and LMREE separation from other matrix elements using a cation-exchange resin;(4) Sm and Nd separation from others LMREE by extraction *** feasibility,flexibility and reproducibility of Rb-Sr,Sm-Nd and Lu-Hf isotope systems are demonstrated for international standard solutions and Certified Reference Materials(CRMs). Results show good agreement with previously reported values by isotope dilution methods,indicating the technique has fewer problems in respect to well-known sample inhomogeneity of natural geological materials and demonstrating its potential application to the study of limited and precious terrestrial rocks or minerals(like peridotite,kimberlite and xenoliths) and extra-terrestrial samples(like lunar rock and meteorites).

AGE OF THE ALTYN TAGH STRIKE—SLIP FAULT

A 100～500m\|wide mylonite zone in the Altun Group of Lower Proterozoic age was discovered along the Altyn Tagh strike\|slip fault. The zone is mainly composed of amphibolitic and granitic mylonites. The planar joints of the rocks strike in NE70 and dip steeply (nearly vertical), coincident with the striking of Altyn Tagh fault zone, and their stretched lineations are nearly horizontal. Shear strains are well developed and show sinistral sheared. The amphibolitic and granitic mylonites are most probably the products of deep\|seated melting caused by sinistral strike\|slip shearing as suggested by the evidence below: (1) The migmatization is intensely developed and spatially controlled by the shear zone, and the rock has a set of NNE perspective foliation which is in accord with the direction of the Altyn Tagh strike\|slip fault zone. (2) The recrystallized hornblende aggregate is distributed in band with obvious nebulous texture, indicating the characteristics of anatexis, and the hornblendes are oriented and form the nearly horizontal stretching lineation; some hornblendes have titanite inclusions, and magmatic long\|columnar zircons are in directional arrangement.(3. The banded felsic material is developed, and the plagioclase is characteristic of high\|temperature plastic deformation and shows sinistral shear stain. (4) In mylonites, all the axis C fabric of quartz shows the feature of sinistral shearing and the majority is generally middle to low temperature fabric, but there also exists high temperature fabric, which suggests that high temperature shearing occur in the early stage of strike\|slip deformation and it is characterized by middle to low temperature shearing at the beginning of anatexis or in the late stage of the deformation. (5) On the XZ plane of mylonite and mylonitized rocks, there exists the consistent sinistral shear stain, which suggests the products of the same strike\|slip *** were separated from three samples of mylonitized gra

The Ashele Cu-Zn deposit is a typical VMS deposit in chinese Altay located in the southern margin of the Altaid *** deposit occurred in the polyphase fold system,and the main orebody is located at the hinge of the *** orebodies show lenticular form,and are stratabound by a suite of early to middle Devonian bimodal volcanic *** hosting basalt is low K tholeiite and characterized with high Mg,Fe,Ca and low K,*** basalts show flat REE pattern with Ce negative anomaly(Ce/Ce 0.73.0.76).Niobium,Ta, Zr,Hf are depleted and Rb,Ba,Th,U,Sr,Pb are enriched with respect to the *** the Sr and Nd isotopes show depleted properties,while the(Sr/Sr) and theε(t)range from 0.70469 to 0.70488 and 4.6 to 5.3.*** geochemical and isotopic data from the hosting basalt show that it originates from an island arc *** also report the S isotope data from the massive orebody,andδS‰change from 1.8‰to 5.6‰.The S isotope data provide evidence that the sulfur originates from a mixing source between magma and seawater *** propose that the mafic magma provides the ore-forming metal and some percentage of sulfur,while it also acts as a heat engine which makes the fluids leach the metal from the underlying volcanic *** the geological characteristics of the Ashele and geochemical data,and comparing with other Cu-Zn VMS deposits in the world,we propose that Ashele formed in *** arc setting.

Zircon shrimp geochronology and geochemistry of TTG rocks in Sushui Complex from Zhongtiao Mountains with its geological implications

The tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite (TTG) rocks in Sushui Complex of Zhongtiao Block can be divided into two series according to their zircon U-Pb ages and geochemical characteristics: one is subduction-related (SR) and the other collision-related (CR) . The SR TTG rocks, together with other Late Archean island arc magmatism, were developed as a result of oceanic subduction between the Eastern and Western blocks in Late Archean; while the CR TTG rocks formed in a thickened crustal environment, which was responding to the collision between the Eastern and Western blocks in Paleoproterozoic. All these features support a model that the Zhongtiao Block is a part of the Trans-North china Orogen in the middle of North china Craton.

The early Precambrian North china craton(NCC) in eastern Hebei Province(also known as the Jidong area) was intruded by granitic batholiths and plutons spatially associated with gold deposits. No consensus has been reached regarding timing and tectonic setting of the gold deposits,chiefly due to the lack of reliable geochronological *** gold deposits in the district are localized by NE-striking faults within granite plutons and/or nearby Archean amphibolites,as well as in Proterozoic sedimentary *** mineralizations in the area are characterized by quartz(±albite) veinand sulfide-disseminated styles;both types of ores have relatively low sulfide contents(3.to 17 wt%NaCl equiv.),HO-CO±CH,N solutions, with CO contents in the inclusions ranging from 5 to 40 mol%.Fluid inclusion homogenization temperatures are between 240 and 400℃,and estimates of the trapping pressures vary significantly from 0.5 to 3.7 *** isotope(O,H,S,C,and Pb) data from these deposits indicate a major magmatic component in the mineralizing fluids and the ore-forming materials,with a partial contribution by Archean host rocks,suggesting that these deposits are basically intrusion-related. shrimp zircon U-Pb geochronology of the gold-hosting granitic intrusions,in combination with previous Ar-Ar and Rb-Sr dates on hydrothermal minerals(e.g.,sericite),indicates that there was no Archean gold mineralization,but instead suggests that at least three episodes of granitic magmatism and associated gold mineralization took place during the Mesozoic.

The Shiyingtan gold deposit,located in a Late Paleozoic volcanic sequence along the northern margin of Tarim plate and western part of Kanggurtag metallogenic belt,was the first low-sulfidation epithermal gold deposit discovered in the eastern part of the Tianshan range,NW *** deposit is closely associated with an arcuate fracture system along the margins of a Permian *** mineralization is hosted in andesite,ignimbrites,and volcanic breccia with magmatic ages of ca.290-270 *** main orebodies,with a combined 200 000 oz Au resource,are composed of a series of steep,interconnected, crustiform-banded quartz veins,which together are as wide as 20 m and extend to depths of>200 *** gangue minerals in the ore-bearing veins consist of quartz,chalcedony,calcite,chlorite,adularia and sericite;metallic minerals mainly include pyrite,chalcopyrite,native gold,and *** temperatures and salinities of primary fluid inclusions in quartz vary from 13. to 250℃and from 0.8 to 6.7 wt%NaCl equiv.,*** and oxygen isotope data indicate that the mineralizing fluid was mainly of meteoric *** geologic and geochemical investigations confirm that the Shiyingtan gold deposit is a Late Paleozoic epithermal gold deposit of the adularia-sericite type.

The igneous rocks in southeastern Hubei Province are mainly Yangshanian syntectic intermediate-acid magrnatic series. According to their regional geological setting, characteristics of ithochemistry, isotope,REE and metallogenic type, the syntectic intermediate-acid magmatic series can be further divided into two subseries: diorite-quartz monzonite magmatic subseries with high content of alkali and sodium, and quartz diorite - granodiorite magmatic subseries with low content of alkali and high potassium. They controlled the distribution and type of iron and copper ore deposits in this area
