Tensile and compression properties of Zr-based bulk amorphous alloy at different temperatures

mechanical properties of the Zr41Ti14Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 bulk amorphous alloy at different temperatures were investigated. The compression test was carried out on a Gleebe-3.00 machine at 3.5 and 3.5°C, respectively, in the supercooled liquid region. It is shown that decreasing the compressive rate and increasing temperature have a similar influence trend on the compressive behavior of the bulk amorphous alloy. Room and low temperature tensile strengths were tested on the Instron materials testing system. At low temperature, the tensile strength decreased with decreasing of the testing temperature. Hardness measurement indicated that below the glass transition temperature, the hardness decreased with increasing of the annealing temperature and duration time. It, however, increased when the annealing treatment was performed above the glass transition temperature.

Development and Physical Properties of Film of Wheat Gluten Cross-linked by Transglutaminase

Films were developed from the modified wheat glutens by microbial transglutamina se(MTGase, [E/S]=10u/g,15u/g and 20u/g) in order to improve physical and barri er properties of the *** was used as a *** films prepared from the modified-glutens by MTGase show a lower elongation at break(E) and a water vapor permeability(WVP), and a higher tensile strength(TS) than the nati ve gluten *** the modified gluten films by different concentrations of MT Gase are immersed in water at 25℃,their weight losses decreased significantly, and their water resistance increases obviously as expected, compared with the c ontrol gluten films. Moreover, an addition of glycerol as plasticizer greatly mo dified water vapor barrier and mechanical properties of the films.

The design of large-scale machine system is a very complex *** design problems usually have a lot of design variables and constraints so that they are difficult to be solved rapidly and efficiently by using conventional *** this paper,a new multilevel design method oriented network environment is proposed,which maps the design problem of large-scale machine system into a hypergraph with degree of linking strength (DLS) between *** decomposition of hypergraph,this method can divide the complex design problem into some small and simple subproblems that can be solved concurrently in a network.

The prediction and control criterion of both the wrinkle limit and fracture limit on the cylindrical cup deep-drawing are given, and the prediction and control diagram of both the wrinkle limit and fracture limit are also given. The results show that it is suitable for no-flange cylindrical cup deep-drawing, narrow-flange cylindrical cup deep-drawing, wide-flange cylindrical cup deep-drawing/expanding compound forming and rigid punch expanding forming.

Relationship between Multi-Phase Formation and Molecular Structure for Liquid Crystal System

4 mechanical model of liquid crystals （ LCs ） was used to explain the phase formation and thermal properties . The LC plusses in the model are micro- machine systems consisting of an ensemble of molecular rotors, and some dynamie parameters in a semi-experiment molecular orbit method. A novel explanation on the multi-phase formation of LC system is obtained. It is found that the value of the critical rotational velueity is a key parameter for the characterization of each homologous series. The dipole moment of the molecules was also discussed.

Corrosion of titanium in supercritical water oxidation environments

Supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) can effectively destroy many kinds of civilian and military wastes. The high temperature and high pressure SCWO operation conditions generate very corrosive environment that many engineering materials fail to withstand. Preliminary test shows that titanium may be a promising material in most of SCWO conditions. Commercially pure titanium is tested in four kinds of SCWO environments. Phenol, sodium dodecyl benzosulfonate, n amine phenol, and chlorpyrifos were chosen as typical target pollutants. The results show that titanium is only superficially attacked in the first three SCWO environments while in chlorpyrifos SCWO medium titanium is corroded. The corrosion is temperature dependent, with heavier corrosion occurring at near critical temperature. X ray diffraction analysis shows that the corrosion products consist of titanium oxy phosphates and titanium oxide, in which Ti 5O 4(PO 4) 4 is the main phase.

Numerical Simulation of Solidification Microstructure and Effects of Phase-field Parameters on Grain Growth Morphologies

By a simple phase field model, a series of numerical simulations of solidification microstructure was performed to show a rich variety of dendritic patterns. At the same time, the relation between the morphology of grain growth and some parameters including the strength of anisotropy, dimensionless latent heat and the size of initial solid zone was studied. It is for the first time that patterns of grain growth were associated with the size of initial solid zone, which is an interesting issue. The possible reason for this may be that variation in the size of initial solid zone may bring about fluctuation of the interface energy, making the interface unstable.

An Expert System in FRP Composite Material Design

An expert system prototype for fibre-reinforced plastic matrix (FRP) composite material design, ESFRP, has been developed. The system consists of seven main functional parts: a general inference engine, a set of knowledge bases, a material properties algorithm base, an explanation engine, various data bases, several function models and the user interface. The ESFRP can simulate human experts to make design scheme for fibre-reinforced plastics design, FRP layered plates design and FRP typical engineering components design. It can also predict the material properties and make strength analysis according to the micro and macro mechanics of composite materials. A satisfied result can be gained through the reiterative design.
